A Quantitative Study Examining the Relationship Between Gender and Career Advancement in Product Management
Gender-based career advancement disparities are prevalent across various fields, yet their impact on product management remains understudied. This quantitative correlational study investigated career advancement barriers faced by 173 full-time, salaried U.S.-based product managers and senior product managers, focusing on gender differences. Survey data explored the relationship between gender and perceived barriers, including lack of culture fit, exclusion from informal networks, mentoring deficiencies, poor organizational career management, limited developmental assignments, and geographic mobility constraints. Organizational justice theory and the glass ceiling metaphor framed this research, utilizing a Mann-Whitney U test for analysis. Results revealed a statistically significant relationship between gender and the perception of 'lack of culture fit' as a career advancement barrier. This study contributes to existing gender-based career advancement disparity research, highlighting the intersection of gender, career progression, and the product management field. The findings offer valuable insights for product management professionals and organizational leaders to promote gender equity through informed career development strategies

Facilitating Learner Success Through Theory-Based Instructor Training
This conceptual review examines how theory-based instructor training can support learner success in online education by fostering autonomy, engagement, and self-regulation. Drawing on self-regulated learning (SRL) and transactional distance theory, the paper highlights the critical role of instructors in reducing psychological distance and promoting student-directed learning. It emphasizes that many faculty members lack formal preparation in pedagogy, particularly for the online environment, and thus require structured development opportunities. The review advocates for training programs that mirror the student learning experience, enabling instructors to practice and apply SRL strategies in their teaching. Components such as reflective goal-setting, peer interaction, meaningful feedback, and structured content delivery are essential to student and instructor development. Institutional approaches to faculty support— such as mentoring, incentives, instructional design collaboration, and alignment with quality standards— are explored. By adopting training frameworks grounded in SRL and transactional distance theory, institutions can improve instructional consistency, increase faculty confidence, and ultimately enhance student achievement in flexible and distance learning environments

Enhancing Digital Literacy in Higher Education: A Comprehensive Analysis of Digital Skill Development Among College Students
This study investigates the development of digital skills among college students, examining their self-perception and the influence of various elements on their digital literacy. We surveyed 305 participants, and covered areas such as Information and Data Literacy, Communication and Collaboration Skills, Digital Content Creation, Digital Safety, and Technology Agility. Using paired t-tests and regression analysis, our study demonstrated significant improvements in digital skills compared to pre- and post- college education. A majority of participants recognized the importance of technology in education and regression analysis showed that higher education levels positively correlated with digital skill proficien-cy, and e-learning interactivity was essential in skill enhancement. Surprisingly, the COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly affect digital skill development. The findings highlight the crucial role of college edu-cation, particularly e-learning and course digital technology requirements, in advancing digital compe-tencies, suggesting that factors beyond the pandemic are more influential in shaping digital skills

The Strategic Use of Data in High-Performing Colleges
With the dramatically increasing capabilities of information technology, the effective use of data has become critical in higher education. Nevertheless, extant literature on how top-performing institutions foster data-based decision making is limited. We examined how institutions with higher-than-predicted graduation rates use data in decision-making. Site visits were conducted with in-depth interviews and focus groups at 5 institutions with 172 participants. Recurrent themes included: 1) senior leadership’s embrace of data, 2) emphasis on data relevance and its accessibility, and 3) strategic use of data. The findings may be helpful to policymakers and practitioners seeking effective ways to improve college graduation rates
