Raincoat: Appropriation, Intermedial Translation and the Non-Manichean Adaptation of O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi
The area of adaptation has always remained a ground of contest and conflict especially when there is appropriation and inter-medial translation influenced by culture. This paper is based on the film Raincoat, which is an adaptation of O. Henry’s well-known short story The Gift of the Magi. The change of setting as well as social relations, has raised the necessity of certain appropriations in the adaptation. Change in social relations forces the characters to be self-censored at every step, in every action. Yet, their social relationship can hardly censor the personal affection they share for one another. The intermedial translation of the silence, the unexplained actions and the unquestioned identification of certain characters reflect their ideologies as representatives of a particular culture. The objective of this paper is primarily to analyse this appropriation, which demands the characters’ denial to overthrow the social matrix. In the course of the study, this paper also aims to observe the inter-medial translations which, although shape the adaptation as an ‘analogy’, maintain a Non-Manichean predicament

An Analytical Study on the Interface Design of Mobile Shopping Application Based on Regional Cultural Design Elements

How Generations Respond to Online Education: Study of Generation Y and Z Applying BRT Theory
The adoption of online education among generations Y and Z in India is being examined in this study using the behavioural reasoning theory (BRT). The PLS-SEM method is used to analyze data on a sample of 284 participants. The results show that while usage barriers, image barriers, and traditional barriers hinder the adoption of online education, factors like career opportunities, learning autonomy, self-efficacy, and relative advantage promote it. The importance of openness is positively correlated with the adoption of online learning. Positive factors also affect attitude and adoption intention, whereas negative factors have the opposite effect. The study also finds a strong positive correlation between intention to adopt and attitude. Although limited to Indian generation Y and Z learners, this research offers practical implications for designing effective online courses and highlights new insights into learners\u27 perspectives on mobile apps, websites, and other learning sources. The study\u27s originality lies in its application of the BRT theory to understand the reasons for and against adopting online education platforms

Social and Legal Studies on Crimes Against Children and Related Laws
Presently human society is going through many complex problems along with progress. The main problem in these problems can be called \u27crime\u27 because today\u27s time has become full of run-of-the-mill life. Due to this people spend most of their time earning their livelihood. Often both men and women are employed in families. Due to this, they are not able to pay much attention to their family and their children. And their children do most of the daily chores alone, such as going to school, going to tuition or coaching classes, bringing vegetables and other rations from the market, etc. Seeing these children alone, outside anti-social elements first show sympathy for them and commit crimes by making friends with them. When a crime happens to these families, some of them break away from everyday life because of those crimes and even some people become mentally deranged. Many times, along with these families, children are mostly the victims. Because of their immature understanding, they are not able to understand the outside world properly and are unable to tell their family members properly. The amount of development that human society has done in developing human civilization has touched new dimensions from the scientific point of view. But still, they have failed to stop the crimes, even though various types of laws have been implemented by the governments, yet they have failed to stop the crimes. This research paper studies the laws in relation to crimes against children and analyzes the effects on society is to be analyzed
A Critical Appreciation of R. K. Narayan’s A Tiger for Malgudi
R.K. Narayan’s novels are remarkable for their technical maturity. Narayan has completely stated his faith in the values popularised by Hindu mythology and its recognition of life and death. The monk describes to his disciple tiger that one is glad or unhappy in this society because of one’s karma in earlier life. The Sanyasi’s conversation with the disciple also has a reverberation of the karma as described in The Upanishad which articulates, “Those whose conduct here has been good will quickly attain a good birth of a Brahman, the birth of a Kshatriya or the birth of a Vaisya. But those, whose conduct here has been evil, will quickly attain an evil birth of a dog”.The styles in his novels are straightforward and simple. In a work of fiction, while studying its technique, importance is given to its narrative perspective. The aim of this study is to critically analyze R. K. Narayan’s A Tiger for Malgudi giving importance to narrative technique, plot construction, humor, the characteristics of the tiger, and how time plays an important role in arranging the events. R.K.
