The Impact of Managers’ Competence on the Relationship between Designation of Respected Firms and ESG Investment
This study examines the relationship between the designation of respected firms and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment, while also investigating the impact of managers' competence on this relationship. Using regression analysis on a sample of 738 Korean firms from 2014 to 2021, the findings reveal that firms designated as the most respected in the market tend to make more ESG investments. Additionally, the most respected firms with highly competent managers are more likely to invest in ESG. These results suggest that the designation as a respected firm serves as an intangible asset that positively affects firm value. This research provides empirical evidence on the connection between the most respected firm designation and ESG investment, offering academic and practical insights into how ESG investment contributes to a company's sustainability
Cybersecurity and Supply Chain Integrity: Evaluating the Economic Consequences of Vulnerabilities in U.S. Infrastructure
Supply chain cybersecurity risks are a major threat to economic security and business continuity across critical sectors in the United States, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and technology. This paper assesses the impact of cyber threats on the supply chain and the measures that can be taken to prevent them, such as threat intelligence, employee awareness, and vendor security. Combining qualitative and quantitative techniques, the study complements economic loss data with qualitative insights into industry issues. Findings from the research show that preventive measures taken in cybersecurity can decrease losses for businesses in high-risk industries by more than 40 percent. Using such technologies as artificial intelligence and blockchain improves threat detection and increases transparency; however, it has certain limitations. The research offers some practical suggestions, such as increasing public-private collaboration, increasing access to sophisticated technology, and enhancing the organizations' compliance with the regulations. These insights enable individuals and organizations to create robust, secure, and sustainable supply chain networks for the future

Information Modeling Methodology in the Distance Learning Process
This article explores the development and application of an information modeling methodology in the distance learning process. The aim is to provide an integrated framework that encapsulates theoretical underpinnings, empirical insights, and practical procedures for designing, implementing, and evaluating an information model suitable for contemporary distance learning environments. In doing so, this paper draws on a broad range of literature related to digital technologies in education, socio-economic transformations, sustainable development, and security considerations. Beginning with an introduction to distance learning and the role of information modeling, the article proceeds to review significant scholarly contributions. It then outlines a comprehensive methodology centered on model design, data gathering, and validation. The results section provides insights gleaned from real-world contexts and case studies, while the discussion underscores the challenges, opportunities, and best practices for stakeholders in distance learning. Finally, the paper concludes with an emphasis on future prospects, policy recommendations, and the role of interdisciplinary collaboration. This examination stands on the foundation of multiple studies, including those addressing the development of modern socio-economic systems under global digitalization, the integration of digital technologies in education, modeling approaches in sustainable development, and strategic management considerations in times of crisis or warfare
US and Canadian Law on Compulsory Licensing of Intellectual Property Rights
The relevance of scientific research lies in the fact that the article explores the theoretical and legal issues of the compulsory licensing in American and Canadian law. Compulsory licensing is a mechanism that allows the state or third parties to use intellectual property (IP) objects without the consent of the copyright holder, but with compensation. This tool is used to balance the interests of copyright holders and society, especially in cases where IP monopoly may impede access to important technologies, medicines or cultural goods. This article discusses the specifics of US and Canadian compulsory licensing legislation, as well as their practical application. The leading method of researching the problem was the deductive method, which made it possible to study the legal and social nature of the processes of using compulsory licensing in American and Canadian law. The article uses inductive method, method of system scientific analysis, comparative legal and historical methods. The leading method behind the problem is to justify the concept of carefully study of judicial practice (on the example of specific court cases) and legislation of US and Canadian compulsory licensing. The author of the article made the following conclusions. First, the convergence of US and Canadian approaches to compulsory licensing may facilitate more efficient use of this mechanism. Second, U.S. enforcement licensing jurisprudence demonstrates the importance of this tool in protecting competition and the public interest. Examples of court decisions such as United States v. Line Material Co. and eBay Inc. v. MercExchange, L.L.C., illustrate how compulsory licensing can be used to provide access to important technologies and medicines. However, its application comes with certain challenges, such as legal barriers and economic consequences. Further development of judicial practice in this area will depend on global challenges and changes in international law. Third, Canada's enforcement licensing jurisprudence demonstrates the importance of this tool in protecting the public interest, particularly in the area of access to medicines. Examples of court decisions such as Apotex Inc. v. Merck & Co. and Eli Lilly and Co. v. Canada, illustrate how compulsory licensing can be used to provide access to important technologies and medicines. However, its application comes with certain challenges, such as legal barriers and economic consequences
Analysis of the Impact of the Organization of Sporting Events: A Literature Review
The competition among countries to host major sporting events goes far beyond merely entertaining their populations; it reflects deeper motivations and leads to significant impacts. Interested countries compete to present strong bids, meticulously prepared by experts and often developed in consultation with nations that have previously hosted such events. Morocco, for instance, seizes every opportunity to submit its candidacy for hosting global tournaments. Recently, it was selected to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. These initiatives raise numerous questions about the underlying objectives of these efforts and the expected economic and social impacts, highlighting the need to examine past experiences to maximize benefits. Undeniably, the preparation for such events prompts governments to invest in necessary infrastructure, whether by modernizing existing facilities or building new ones as required. The debate in the literature generally focuses on assessing the social and economic benefits, such as revenue generation, tourism growth, and job creation resulting from these investments. Our study adopts a meta-analysis of existing literature since 2000, synthesizing international empirical research to evaluate the impact of these events on various sectors, with particular emphasis on their contribution to GDP, tax revenues, job creation, tourism, and social impacts. Our analysis reveals that the economic impact of sporting events is not always positive for all host countries, or at least it does not always meet initial expectations. Several studies indicate that the nations benefiting most from these events are developed countries with already established infrastructure. For these countries, the expenses tend to be lower compared to developing nations, which benefit less or, in some cases, suffer negative economic effects due to the costs associated with hosting. This is particularly true when these countries must incur debt to finance the necessary investments and projects
Teachers' Experiences in Implementing HIV and Aids Policy in Lekwa West Circuit Schools of Standerton, Mpumalanga
This study explores teachers’ experiences in implementing HIV and AIDS policies in Lekwa West Circuit schools, Standerton, Mpumalanga. The purpose is to examine how teachers implement the policy, their roles in its formulation, and the barriers they face. A qualitative research design using a case study approach was employed, with a purposive sample of 10 to 15 Life Orientation and Life Skills teachers who have at least two years of experience. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis of school policies and guidelines. The interview guide was reviewed for validity, and triangulation with document analysis ensured reliability. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes such as training, policy communication, support from school management, and resource availability. Findings revealed that teachers struggle with policy implementation due to limited involvement in its formulation, inadequate training, lack of clear guidelines, and insufficient resources. Life Orientation was also undervalued, and student discipline issues further hindered effective engagement. Recommendations include involving teachers in policy formulation, providing comprehensive training, allocating adequate resources, recognizing Life Orientation as a core subject, addressing student discipline, and conducting regular policy reviews to ensure effectiveness and improvement
