Synergistic Model of Parent and Teacher Collaboration in Character Education at Islamic Based Schools in Medan City
Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping students' personalities, but its effectiveness greatly depends on the synergy between parents and teachers. This study aims to analyze effective synergy models in character education at Al-Ulum Private High School and Jabal Rahmah Mulia Boarding School in Medan. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis to explore communication patterns, parental involvement, and collaboration challenges. The results show that participatory communication, family support, and a conducive social environment are key factors in successful synergy, which has a positive impact on improving student discipline, responsibility, and honesty. Teachers play the role of murabbi who instill morals, while parents reinforce values at home. The main obstacles include parents' time constraints, differences in perceptions of character education, and the influence of the social environment. This study produced a synergy model based on the Indonesian socio-cultural context that is adaptive to Islamic values and the realities of urban families. The implication is that schools need to strengthen collaboration with parents through digital communication and moral values-based parenting programs to strengthen student character building
Islamic Education Strategy Based on the Integration of Local Wisdom for Developing Students Spiritual Character
Islamic education amid the tide of modernization faces serious challenges in the form of weakening spiritual character and the disconnection of religious values from the local cultural context. This condition calls for an educational approach that is not only normative, but also contextual and rooted in local wisdom. This study aims to identify the Islamic educational values contained in the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy and analyze strategies for integrating them into the spiritual character development of students in Nagori Maligas Bayu. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method and a philosophical-contextual analysis of the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer concept, combined with an Islamic educational perspective. The results show that the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy contains Islamic educational values, including purity, sincerity, gratitude, empathy, responsibility, discipline, moral courage, respect for parents, and balance in life. The integration of these values in Islamic education has implications for strengthening the spiritual character of students holistically through a reflective, dialogical, and locally-based approach. This study emphasizes the importance of local wisdom as a strategic resource for the development of relevant and sustainable Islamic education
Management of Nonformal Islamic Education Institutions: A Case Study Analysis on Majelis Taklim
The governance of majelis taklim (Islamic study groups) is still diverse and unstandardized, resulting in differences in community participation and management effectiveness, which in turn affect the quality of Nonformal Islamic education. This study examines the governance of Nonformal Islamic educational institutions, specifically majelis taklim, through a qualitative multisite approach in eighteen majelis taklim in Mandailing Natal Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed two distinct governance models: open and closed. Open governance is typically found in majelis taklim established and managed by the community, characterized by high participation in decision-making and management. In contrast, closed governance is observed in majelis taklim managed by religious scholars, where decisions are centralized. The type of governance structure influences community participation levels, open governance shows higher involvement, while closed governance is more limited. These findings indicate that governance structures play a crucial role in determining community engagement and influencing Nonformal Islamic education practices. This study implies the importance of adaptive and participatory governance guidelines to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic study group management and strengthen the role of communities in Islamic education
Partnership Strategy in Developing Education Quality In Islamic Based Schools
This study was motivated by the importance of school partnerships with external parties as a strategy for improving the quality of education, particularly in Islamic schools that uphold the values of ukhuwah and cooperation. The objective is to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of partnerships aimed at supporting holistic educational quality improvement, encompassing academic, moral, and spiritual aspects. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that schools implement partnerships systematically: planning includes setting objectives, identifying programs, drafting cooperation agreements, and socialization; implementation involves various partners in the areas of health, safety, academics, and Islamic character building; evaluation is carried out through evaluation planning, monitoring obstacles, drafting recommendations, and preparing reports. However, documentation of evaluation results still needs to be improved. This study concludes that structured partnerships, aligned with the principles of mutual cooperation and Islamic values, and evaluated on a regular basis, can serve as an effective strategy to enhance the quality of Islamic education and are worthy of replication while considering local contexts
The Influence of Individual Competence, Creativity, and Work Attitude on Lecturer Performance at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training
This study was motivated by the low effectiveness of lecturers’ performance, often influenced by their competence, creativity, and work attitudes at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. The study aimed to analyze the influence of individual competence and creativity on lecturers’ work attitudes and performance. Using a quantitative ex post facto approach, data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed inferentially. The results indicated that all hypotheses were supported: individual competence positively affected work attitudes by 17%, creativity contributed 21% to work attitudes, while competence and creativity influenced performance by 9.6% and 12%, respectively. Work attitudes also had a positive impact of 16% on performance. These findings highlight that enhancing competence, fostering creativity, and cultivating positive work attitudes are interrelated strategies essential for improving lecturers’ professionalism and the overall quality of higher education. The study implies the need for programs that strengthen competence, stimulate creativity, and nurture positive work attitudes to enhance teaching, research, and community service
Qaulan Sadida as A Qur'anic Framework For Revitalizing Character Building in the Digital Era
The digital era offers vast benefits but simultaneously brings challenges such as the spread of hoaxes, the degradation of communication ethics, and the moral crisis among younger generations. The Qur'anic concept of Qaulan Sadida, which signifies truthful, just, and responsible speech, is highly relevant in addressing these issues. This study, employing the thematic exegesis method of Abdul Hayy al-Farmawi, analyzes the meaning of Qaulan Sadida in Qur'an Surah An-Nisa: 9 and Qur'an Surah Al-Ahzab: 70, along with the interpretations of exegetes such as Ibn Kathir, Al-Maraghi, and Al-Qurtubi, who emphasize its social-ethical dimensions and self-restraint. Quraish Shihab further highlights its universal nature, making it applicable to da'wah, education, and social interaction. The findings reveal that Qaulan Sadida encompasses five core principles: honesty, gentleness, beneficial speech, justice, and humility. These values are essential in countering hate speech, information manipulation, and the crisis of digital civility. Revitalizing Qaulan Sadida entails fostering ethical, wise, and courteous communication within digital spaces. Islamic educational institutions play a strategic role in this process by integrating these Qur'anic values into curricula, digital literacy programs, and academic culture, thereby nurturing a Muslim generation that is not only digitally literate but also firmly grounded in Qur'anic character
Multicultural Approach in Islamic Religious Education Curriculum as an Effort to Strengthen Content of Tolerance and Religious Moderation
Indonesia, as a multicultural country, faces serious challenges in maintaining social cohesion due to the increasing potential for conflicts based on intolerance. Islamic Religious Education, which has tended to be normative, is considered to be less than optimal in fostering religious moderation. This study aims to analyze the development of Islamic Religious Education materials based on multicultural values to strengthen religious tolerance and moderation, as well as to examine the role of teachers and school culture. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multisite study design at Panca Budi High School and Darussalam High School. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The results show that the integration of multicultural values into the curriculum and Islamic Religious Education materials is carried out systematically by emphasizing the social dimensions of Islam and applying contextual and dialogical learning strategies. Teachers act as agents of moderation who build an inclusive classroom climate, supported by a school culture that affirms the value of diversity through institutional policies and practices. These findings reinforce multicultural education theory and offer a model for developing an Islamic Religious Education curriculum that is adaptive to the realities of a pluralistic society and relevant to teachers and education policymakers

Augmented Reality as an Interactive Medium for Understanding Qur’anic Verses on the Phenomenon of Rain in Islamic Education Learning
Students’ understanding of kauniyah verses in the Qur’an, particularly regarding the phenomenon of rain, is often limited because the information presented is general and lacks integration with scientific explanations, resulting in varied interpretations. This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media to visualize the process of rainfall based on QS. An-Nūr verse 43 and QS. Ar-Rūm verse 48. Support from tafsir ilmi and the water cycle theory is used to comprehensively understand the meaning of the verses. Students in the Information Systems Study Program are required to connect Qur’anic verses with scientific phenomena, but conventional media limit effective learning. The AR application, developed using Unity, Vuforia, and Blender, displays 3D animations of evaporation, transpiration, condensation, and precipitation phases. The development follows the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, ensuring a procedural, interactive, and user-friendly approach. Testing results show that the application runs stably and effectively enhances understanding of the relationship between the verses, their interpretation, and natural phenomena in a contextual manner, implicating AR as an innovative model to enhance Qur'anic science literacy and digital learning experience
