    Modification of Rice Husk-based Activated Charcoal as Microwave Absorbing Material

    Stealth technology is one of the technologies being developed to eliminate RADAR traces from the enemy. The spectrum used in this technology is in the microwave range (8-12 GHz). RAM (Radar Absorbing Material) is one of the techniques that can be used in the design of stealth technology. One material that has the potential to be used as RAM is activated charcoal as a dielectric material. In the manufacture of activated charcoal, a chemical activation method is used with an activator in the form of 5 M HCl to obtain good porosity properties in charcoal. Modification of active charcoal was also carried out using mechanical milling method with time variations of 50, 100, 150, and 200 minutes which were then characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy - Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), and Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). Mechanical milling is proven to be able to change the shape of the charcoal structure from amorphous to semicrystalline with the crystalline phase formed in the form of C60-fullerene. Activated charcoal samples with a time variation of 100 minutes have the best absorbing ability with absorption reaching 78.22% and a reflection loss value of -25.96 dB at a frequency of 9.69 GHz with a frequency bandwidth of 3.68 GHz.Keywords—stealth technology; rice husk activated charcoal; mechanical milling; microwave absorber.

    Infections A Entérobactéries Dans Les Services De Réanimation, Chirurgie Et Urgences Des Hôpitaux d’Antananarivo

    Résumé— Les entérobactéries sont les germes les plus fréquemment rencontrés en milieu hospitalier. L’objectif de la présente étude consiste à décrire les facteurs associés aux infections bactériennes à entérobactéries chez les patients hospitalisés dans les services de réanimation, chirurgie et urgences. Il s’agit d’une étude rétrospective et analytique de 144 cas d’infections bactériennes à entérobactéries pendant une période de 6 mois du mois de Juillet au mois de Décembre 2022 au laboratoire du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Joseph Raseta Befelatanana. Parmi les 144 entérobactéries, 39 cas (27,1%) ont concerné les patients hospitalisés dans les services de réanimation, chrirurgie et urgences dont 20 cas (31,7%) représentés par les entérobactéries du groupe Klebsiella-Enterobacter-Serratia et 16 cas (23,2%) par l’espèce Escherichia coli. 14 (73,7%) isolats d’entérobactéries ont été trouvés dans les suppurations et 7 (70%) isolats dans les liquides d’épanchements. Concernant les facteurs associés, les hommes (41,4%)(p=0,000002), les sujets de moins de 40 ans (36,2%)(p=0,00001), présentant un syndrome infectieux et des signes digestifs (33,3%)(p=0,0001) ont été les plus affectés par les infections à entérobactéries. Les entérobactéries ont été sécrétrices de BLSE (34,4%)(p=0,002) dans la majorité des cas. En bref, les gestes invasifs effectués dans les services de réanimation, chirurgie et urgences favorisent la survenue d’infections nosocomiales à entérobactéries multi-résistantes.Abstract— Enterobacteria are the germs most frequently in hospitals. This is a retrospective and analytical study of 144 cases of bacterial infections with enterobacteria during a period of 6 months from July to December 2022 in the laboratory of the Joseph Raseta Befelatanana University Hospital Center. Among the 144 enterobacteria, 39 cases (27.1%) concerned patients hospitalized in the intensive care, surgery and emergency departments, including 20 cases (31.7%) represented by enterobacteria from the Klebsiella-Enterobacter-Serratia group and 16 cases (23.2%) by the species Escherichia coli. 14 (73.7%) enterobacteria isolates were found in suppurations and 7 (70%) isolates in effusion fluids. Concerning the associated factors, men (41.4%) (p=0.000002), subjects under 40 years old (36.2%) (p=0.00001), presenting an infectious syndrome and digestive signs (33.3%) (p=0.0001) were the most affected by enterobacteria infections. Enterobacteria secreted ESBL (34.4%) (p = 0.002) in the majority of cases.     This research focuses on the design and evaluation of an ontology-based context-aware system for advertising recommendations. The study addresses the limitations of traditional advertising systems, which often neglect key contextual factors such as user location, time, and needs. Using the NeOn methodology, the proposed ontology incorporates these contextual dimensions, integrating widely accepted ontologies like FOAF, OWL-Time, and WGS84 Geo Positioning. The developed ontology was tested using SPARQL and GeoSPARQL queries to ensure it could accurately represent advertising and contextual information, delivering relevant recommendations tailored to users' current situations. The results demonstrate the ontology's scalability, expressiveness, and effectiveness in providing context-aware advertising recommendations. Future work includes developing a mobile application that leverages the ontology to enhance real-time advertising recommendations

    Fungal Leaching of Iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn), and Copper (Cu) in Copper Ore Waste from Ikalamavony, Madagascar, by Aspergillus sp.

    The recovery of waste has become a global concern due to the economy's shift towards a circular economy, which includes the recycling of mining waste. This study aims to highlight the ability of the fungus Aspergillus to dissolve metals as iron, zinc, and copper from Ikalamavony ore waste through the bioleaching process for their recovery. The waste was subjected to granulometric analysis to classify the grains by weight and size, and the metal content was analyzed using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (FAAS). Bioleaching was conducted in two stages: first, the fungi were cultured on Sabouraud agar or broth medium at 28°C for 7 days, then the produced organic acids were recovered and the waste was placed in these acids. The optimization of certain parameters as particle size, sucrose content, medium volume, strain incubation time and bioleaching time was considered. The FAAS analysis results indicated that the waste contained an average of 5.35% Fe, 0.05% Zn, and 18.14% Cu. The optimum parameters obtained for each metal were as follows: for particle size, Fe and Zn: 125 µm; Cu: 200 µm; for sucrose content, Fe: 7.5 g and Zn, Cu: 12.5 g; for the volume of culture medium, Fe, Zn, Cu: 150 ml. The incubation time for the strains was 7 days. With these optimizations, the extracted metals were 73.89% Cu, 56.77% Zn, and 7.89% Fe for a leaching time of 15 days. These results confirm that bioleaching using Aspergillus sp. is an effective technique for the extraction and recovery of copper and zinc from ore waste

    Isolation and Screening of Cellulolytic Bacteria from Mangrove Waters in Mandeh, West Sumatera Province, Indonesia

    Microbial communities in mangrove ecosystems produce cellulase enzymes, essential for breaking down cellulose, which are used in various applications. The objective of the research is to isolate and purify cellulolytics from the mangrove waters on the Mandeh coast, West Sumatera Province, Indonesia. Thirteen sites were used for this study, and water samples were chosen at random. The findings demonstrated that 16 isolates exhibited cellulolytic activity, and 38 isolates that grew in nutrient agar were created by the purified bacteria. The common bacteria found have a high colony elevation, an undulating colony edge, an uneven colony form, and cream pigmentation. The most prevalent form of bacteria is the bacilli cell, and 16 of the 38 isolates exhibited cellulase activity after inoculation. The cellulolytic index (CI) ranged from 0.36 to 4.82, and the highest CI was PUA-18 (4.82), followed by PUA-38 (4.6), PUA-28 (3.74), and PUA-21 (3.61)

    Introduction - The prevalence of corticosteroid use in primary care is an important topic in contemporary medicine due to their wide impact in the treatment of many health conditions. In many cases, corticosteroids are used to treat inflammation, autoimmune diseases, allergies and acute pollution, providing an effective solution for many patients.Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the prevalence of the use of corticosteroids in the treatment of diseases in the pediatric ward at the KKMF in Peja. This analysis will help improve pediatric care and identify ways to optimize the use and management of corticosteroids in this patient group in this city.Methodology - The methodology of this study involved a mix of different methods to collect and analyze data objectively and effectively. Initially, we will select a representative sample of 220 children from pediatrics at the Peja HCMC. After that, we will collect detailed data for each patient, including information on diagnoses, reasons for using corticosteroids, doses used and treatment of side effects. The data will be analyzed to assess the current practice of using these medicines in pediatric care and to identify ways to improve their management and use in Peja hospital, providing recommendations for a more consistent and efficient treatment for pediatric patients. .Results - The results showing an effective and consistent use of corticosteroids in pediatric care at the Peja Medical Center are an important indicator of the quality of medical practice in this health institution.Conclusions - We identified that Dexasone and Urbazone as the most used drugs in the treatment of pediatric diseases in the KKMF. This result suggests a physician preference for these two types of corticosteroids because of their efficacy and safety in the treatment of a wide range of pediatric dis

    Etude des Paramètres Hydrologique et Physico-Chimiques de la Rivière Ikelemba dans la Province de l’Equateur en RD Congo

    The objective of this article is to measure the hydrological and physicochemical parameters of the Ikelemba River. The results showed that, the highest average width was recorded at the third station of the Ikelemba River (230 m) during the flood period and the lowest average width (53.3) was obtained during the recession period at the first station. The highest depth values were recorded at the third station of the Ikelemba River (230 m) during flood periods and 5.68 m during recession periods. The lowest values were taken at the first station (8.47m) during flood periods and (1.72m) during recession. The highest velocity values were taken at the third station (55cm/s) during the flood period and (46cm/s) at the receding stage. The lowest values were taken at the first station (35cm/s) during the recession period and 40cm/s) during floods.During periods of flooding, the highest temperature values were recorded in the waters of Stations III (29.2°C) and Station II (28.4°C) in the Ikelemba River. The lowest temperature value was measured at station I (26.7°C). During the flood period, the highest water temperature values of the Ikelemba River from upstream to downstream were recorded in station II (27.5°C) and station III (27.3°C). And the lowest value was taken at the first station (25.8°C). Fluctuations in the conductivity of the waters of the Ikelemba River during the flood period indicate that stations III and II recorded the highest values, respectively 34.1µs/cm and 26.2µs/cm. And the lowest conductivity value was observed at station I with 25.9µs/cm. During the flood period, stations III and II of the Ikelemba River recorded the highest conductivity values of 36.2µs/cm and 31.8µs/cm respectively. The lowest value was observed at station I with 31.4µs/cm.The pH values taken during the two periods in the Ikelemba River show that the waters were more acidic during the recession period than those of the floods. During the flood period, the highest values of dissolved oxygen were observed at stations III and II, 5.01 mg/L and 4.78 mg/L respectively. The lowest value was observed at station I 4.66mg/L at the Ikelemba River. Dissolved oxygen in the waters of the Ikelemba River has the highest levels during the recession period at stations III and II, respectively 4.82 mg/L and 3.96 mg/L. The lowest content was observed at station I with 4.02 mg/L. During the flood period, the highest concentrations of phosphates were taken at stations II and III, respectively 2.8 mg/L and 2.7 mg/L in the Ikelemba River. The lowest concentration was recorded at station I with 2.5mg/L from the Ikelemba River. The concentrations of phosphates observed during the recession period revealed the highest values at stations II and III, respectively 2.5 mg/L and 2.3 mg/L of the Ikelemba River. The lowest concentration was recorded at station I with 2.2 mg/L.During flood periods the highest nitrate concentrations were taken at stations I and III with the same value 3mg/L in the Ikelemba River. The minimum concentration was recorded at station II with 2.8mg/L from the Ikelemba River. The nitrate concentrations observed during the recession period presented the highest values at stations I and III respectively with the same values 2.9 mg/L of the Ikelemba River. The lowest concentration was recorded at station II with 2.7 mg/L from the Ikelemba River

    Perception Of Farmers On The Innovation Of Legowo Jajar System In Padang City: (Case Study in Sungai Sapih Village Kuranji District Padang City West Sumatra Province)

    This study aims to describe the characteristics of rice farmers who implement the Legowo Jajar System in Padang City and Describe farmers' perceptions of the Legowo Jajar System in Padang City. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with the type of survey. The results of research on rice farmers' perceptions of the innovation of the legowo jajar system in Padang City can be concluded that rice farmers who apply the legowo jajar system to the Setia Budi farmer group have a productive age category, the level of education is mostly high school graduation, the area of land owned by farmers ranges from 0.25 - 1.25 Ha, land ownership status is mostly arable land and with an average experience of 49 years. Farmers' perceptions of the implementation of the legowo jajar system in the Setia Budi farmer group in Padang City were negative. In the labor category, the number of inputs used, costs used and results obtained were needed more in the application of the legowo row system than conventional systems

Recent research indicates that several factors influence the effect of plant extract on plants, such as the type of plant used for the extract, the type of terget plant, concentration, and extraction method.
