The Role of IoT (Internet of Things) Technologies in enhancing precision Agriculture Practices for food security in Nigeria
The growing demand for food in terms of quality and quantity has increased the need for industrialization and intensification in the agriculture field. Internet of Things (IoT) is a highly promising technology that is offering many innovative solutions to modernize the agriculture sector. The Internet of Things (IOT) has become important to almost every area of life due to the huge advantages it possesses. Nigeria currently is eager to employ various IOT applications to ease the difficulties farmers encounter by using smart farming to usher in precision Agriculture. This is very necessary as majority of Nigerian populace depend hugely on agriculture. The aim of the study was to assess the role of IoT Technologies to enhance precision agriculture and enjoy the benefits, including food security in Nigeria. It is important that all farm management practices will be meticulously planned, monitored, and controlled before planting to storage and distribution stage using precise Agritech. Precision Agriculture in Nigeria is an unavoidable farming system for Nigeria farmers to efficiently manage their farm, thereby combating the issue of food security as the nation’s population increases daily, and with the prediction that the world’s population is expected to climax 9.8 billion by 2050.The methodology adopted is a desk methodology. This is because it involves collection of secondary data. Data is basically collected from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. The study indicated that precision agriculture technologies play a crucial role in enhancing farm productivity by enabling more efficient and effective farming practices. These technologies, which include GPS (Global Positioning System)-guided equipment, remote sensing, and data analysis, allow farmers to precisely monitor and manage their crops and soil. By using GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems), farmers can create detailed maps of their fields, identifying variations in soil types and nutrient levels. Remote sensing technologies, such as drones and satellites, provide real-time data on crop health, helping to detect issues like pest infestations and water stress. IoT-based agricultural monitoring solutions have been identified based on the sub-domains to which they belong. The identified sub-domains are soil monitoring, air monitoring, temperature monitoring, water monitoring, disease monitoring, location monitoring, environmental conditions monitoring, pest monitoring, and fertilization monitoring. Further, the IoT paradigm improves human interaction in the physical world through low-cost electronic devices and communication protocols. IoT also monitors different environmental conditions to create dense and real-time maps of noise level, air, water pollution, temperature, and damaging radiations. Data collected from these different environmental parameters by the devices is transmitted to the user by trigger alerts or sending recommendations to authorities via messages. Definition of ConceptsSmart Farming: This can be referred to as the application of modern information and communication technologies techniques/skills into agriculture in order to achieve higher productivity [3]. Smart farming or smart agriculture can provide the farmer with daily updates with respect to the soil, crop health, and energy consumption level within the farm [31].Smart Irrigation: It uses controllers to monitor weather and soil conditions, state of evaporation and plant healthiness while adjusting watering schedules to maintain and moderate the required water on a smart farm. Smart irrigation is targeted of agricultural crops all year round [23].Livestock Detection Management: IOT is used to track the location of livestock, identify the livestock, check for their healthiness, locations and when properly deployed, it can solve the herders/farmers clashes [17].Weather Monitoring: This involves the systematic approach of measuring the atmosphere and climate, including variables such as temperature, moisture, wind velocity and barometric pressure using IOT [32].Nutrient Management: This involves the smart monitoring of soil nutrients level using IOT for effective crop production [20].Machines for Routine Operations: This involves optimization of routes for drivers’ assistance and reducing the harvest and treatment of crops [4].PA (Precision Agriculture): is a new advanced method in which farmers provide optimized inputs such as water and fertilizer to enhance productivity, quality, and yield [5]Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). IPC is the global standard for measuring food insecurity of hunger. The different phases of hunger using this scale include (IPC Phase1,2,3,4 and 5)[29
De La Connaissance Des Mères Du Quartier Butanuka Sur Les Déterminants De La Diarrhée Aigue Chez Les Enfants De Moins Cinq Ans
Cette étude descriptive, transversale et prospective concerne les mères des enfants de moins de 5ans du quartier Butanuka qui avaient présenté au moins un épisode de diarrhéeaigüe en 2021.Elle a pour but d’identifier les déterminants de la survenue des diarrhées aigües infanto-juvéniles attribuables à l’enfant, aux comportements maternels et à l’environnement. Elle contribue à la prévention de ces affections. Elle a intéressé une population de 185 mères des enfants de moins de cinq ans. Les principaux résultats obtenus avaient été : 41% des mères ont l’âge entre 18-25 ans ; 40% des mères ont le niveau d’étude primaire ; 56% des mères sont des ménagères. Les déterminants de la survenue des diarrhées aigües attribuables à :-L’enfant lui-même : 100% des mères ont évoqué les mauvaises habitudes d’hygiènes de l’enfant selon l’âge ; 45% les maladies et 77% l’allaitement au sein interrompu avant 2 ans ;-Aux comportements maternels : 100% des mères ont évoqué l’arrêt de l’allaitement maternel exclusif avant 6 mois, les mauvaises habitudes d’hygiène et les mauvaises préparations,-Manipulations ou conservations des aliments et eau de boisson et 83% les mauvaises pratiques de sevrage. -Liés à l’environnement : 100% des mères ont évoqué les microbes, les mauvaises conditions d’assainissement et d’hygiène ; 71% la pauvreté ; 70% le manque d’eau potable salubre et 72%, le manque d’installations sanitaires de base
Medical Therapy of Non-Compressible Haemorrhage
Drug delivery systems are being developed for many treatments including hemostasis. Increasing the concentration of therapeutic coagulants in areas where tissue grows and can be achieved by applying them directly to the injury, such as through catheters or external devices, or by using therapeutic methods that target the expression of molecular markers of vascular damage. Excessive bleeding is difficult to treat with external measures because blood pressure pushes hemostatic drugs out, reducing their effectiveness. This review means that small particles can be used to deliver therapeutic agents such as coagulants, small molecules, or other chemical or biological agents that enter the wounds during bleeding. A recent example of a cross-sectional study showed that stimulation increased thrombin activity and tranexamic acid in the treatment of hemorrage in 2 murine bleeding models and a porcine model of fatal non-compressible bleeding. Numerous devices are available that expose bandages and new methods that make it easier to apply them to the site of vascular injury could reduce the number of deaths from bleeding worldwide
Unmasking Subacute Thyroiditis in a Young Male with PUO: A Case Report
Pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO) poses a diagnostic challenge, defined as persistent fever exceeding 38.3°C (100°F) without an identified cause after extensive investigation. Subacute thyroiditis (SAT), an uncommon inflammatory condition of the thyroid gland, typically presents with neck pain, thyrotoxic symptoms, and elevated inflammatory markers. However, it rarely manifests as PUO without typical symptoms. We report a case of a 32-year-old Indian male presenting with a 20-day history of persistent fever without localized symptoms, initially treated empirically with antibiotics without improvement. Clinical examination revealed a firm, non-tender goiter, and laboratory investigations showed elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Subsequent thyroid function tests indicated elevated free T4 levels with low TSH, suggestive of thyroiditis, after negative thyroid autoantibodies ruling out Graves' disease. Further investigations including imaging and tests for PUO were negative, prompting an empirical trial of steroid therapy which resulted in rapid clinical improvement. Subsequent thyroid function tests revealed transient hypothyroidism, resolving without intervention. Retrospectively, a diagnosis of subacute thyroiditis was established, highlighting its atypical presentation as PUO. Our case sheds light on the importance of considering uncommon thyroid pathologies in the differential diagnosis of PUO, especially when typical symptoms are absent

Application of HACCP in the Processing of Frozen Gindara Fish (Lepidocybium flavobrunneum) at PT. Tridaya Eramina Bahari
One marine fish exporting company, PT. Tridaya Eramina Bahari, describes HACCP as a system for assessing and managing food-related health risks. This investigation aims to examine how PT. Tridaya Eramina Bahari applies Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) to quality control when processing frozen gindara fish (Lepidocybium flavobrunneum). This study employs observations and interviews as part of a survey methodology. The data analysis method used is quantitative-descriptive. This research shows that at all stages of the Gindara Fish (Lepidocybium flavobrunneum) processing at PT. Tridaya Eramina Bahari, three critical control points (CCP) were established: the raw material receiving stage, the packaging and labelling, and the metal detector inspection. Based on data obtained at the time of receipt of raw materials, the samples used meet the requirements and comply with the standards set by PT. Tridaya Eramina Bahari. Packaging and labelling feasibility results were also obtained based on the packing analysis form by the company's QC staff. Modeling The Started Tear Of A Linen Fabric: Case Of A White Woven Fabric
This article relates the behavior of the initiated tear of a white woven linen fabric. The initiated tearing of fabrics is represented by mathematical models and developed from the physical characteristics of the fabrics and the characteristics of the yarns constituting the fabric. Among the evaluation parameters we distinguish: the weight of the fabric, the yarn density in warp and weft of the fabric, the width of the fabric, the resistance of the yarns, the kilometric resistance of the yarns and the actual metric number of the yarns. The fabrics studied during this work are composed of 55% cotton and 45% also, tests and experiments were carried out with 66 fabric samples of the same composition in order to better understand the phenomenon of initiated tearing. The mathematical models given in this work are associated with their precision reflected by the relative and absolute errors
Effect of Time Difference in Catching Wire Bubu on Catch Results in the Waters of the Musi Tributary, Terusan Village, Musi Banyuasin Regency
This study aims to determine the effect of the difference in fishing time of wire bubu on the catch. This research was carried out for 30 arrests in the waters of the Musi tributary of the Musi River in Terusan Village, Musi Banyuasin Regency from January 4, 2024 to February 3, 2024. The method used in this study uses the experimental fishing method which is carried out during the day (11.00-17.00) and at night (18.00-24.00). The data obtained was then analyzed using the mean difference test (t-test). The results showed that the catch of sepat fish and snakehead fish during the day and night was significantly different (P0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in fish catches during the day and at night where the catch using bubu fishing gear at night is higher than during the day
The Effect Of Institutional Ownership, Internal Audit Organization Status, And Audit Committee On Fraud Prevention With Political Connection As Moderating Variable
This study aims to examine the effects of institutional ownership, internal audit organization status, and audit committee on the frequency of audit committee meetings on fraud prevention, with a moderating variable of political affiliation. The study's sample consisted of 32 mining sector businesses that were listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2020 and 2024, using the Purposive Sampling technique. Secondary data was taken from the websites of individual firms and the Financial Statements and Annual Reports of Mining firms that were posted between 2020 and 2024 on the Indonesia Stock Exchange's official website (www.idx.co.id). The analysis method used in this study is known as Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The following are the study's conclusions: 1) Institutional ownership greatly enhances the ability to avoid fraud, 2) The status of the internal audit organization has a significant benefit for fraud prevention, 3) The frequency with which the Audit Committee meets has an adverse effect on fraud prevention, 4) Political connections can lessen the negative effects of institutional ownership on fraud prevention, 5) The influence of Internal Audit Organization Status may be lessened by the connection between Political Connection and Fraud Prevention, 6) Political Connection is not able to minimize the influence of the Audit Committee on the Frequency of Audit Committee Meetings on Fraud Prevention
