    Get PDF
The integration of ergonomics into engineering machine design is essential for enhancing user comfort, reducing workplace injuries, and improving operational efficiency. Traditional ergonomic assessments often rely on manual evaluations and predefined models, which may not fully capture the complexity of human-machine interactions. This study explores the application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to optimize ergonomic design in engineering machines. ANN-based systems leverage intelligent learning algorithms to analyze human factors, predict ergonomic risks, and recommend design improvements. By incorporating real-time data processing and adaptive learning, ANN enhances decision-making in ergonomic assessments, leading to safer and more efficient machine designs. The research examines key ergonomic parameters, including posture analysis, force exertion, and user adaptability, utilizing ANN to refine design configurations. The proposed approach aims to bridge the gap between conventional ergonomic methods and intelligent automation, ultimately contributing to a more effective and user-centered engineering design process. This study highlights the potential of ANN-based systems in revolutionizing machine ergonomics, fostering enhanced productivity, and promoting workplace safety. The conventional Resistance to Change that cause poor application of ergonomics in engineering machine design was 15%. Meanwhile, when an ANN based system was imbibed into the system, it reduced it to13.4%. Finally, the percentage improvement in application of ergonomics in engineering machine design when an ANN based system was applied was 1.6%

Réduction Des GES Dans Les Ports Africains : Vers Des Infrastructures Vertes

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
An effective land regulation system is crucial for good governance, especially as Liberian communities such as Slipway continue to face persistent land-related challenges. To address this, the study used the existing analog cadastral map to identify land tenure types and contentious parcels. A geospatial database was then developed along with a web-based land information sharing system built on the Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM). The methodology involved collecting both spatial and non-spatial data in Slipway, with an application designed using PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and Apache (Apache HTTP Server) for the user interface, the STDM plugin (Quantum GIS) for cadastral operations, and PostgreSQL as the database. The research results identified 133 parcels on the cadastral map, covering a total area of 1,077,396 square feet. Of these, eleven (11) parcels totaling 93,130 square feet had no identified owners. One hundred and twelve (112) parcels, representing 799,184 square feet, were private properties. Six (6) parcels, or 122,994 square feet, were under dispute, and the remaining three (3) parcels, totaling 62,089 square feet, were public land. This information enabled the creation of a social tenure relationship table, which allows users to add parties and spatial units, make queries, and upload documents. Key features such as user authentication, a search form, and an interactive map were integrated into the system. The final product is a geospatial database and a web-based platform for land information sharing that enables users to query, register, and update parcel-related data

Discrete Detection of Qualitative Changes in Agricultural Land Using Heaviside Thresholds : Application to Soil Monitoring

    Get PDF
Soil quality is a central indicator of sustainability in agricultural production systems. This article proposes a discrete method for the automatic detection of qualitative changes in soils, based on Heaviside threshold functions and a simple yet robust temporal analysis. The method classifies daily observations into three states: improvement, stability, or degradation, depending on their position relative to a critical threshold and a defined tolerance. A MATLAB simulation illustrates the efficiency of the model, with a graph enabling direct interpretation of soil dynamics. The approach is designed for use in precision agriculture and automated monitoring contexts.
