Vital Signs and Organs related Disease Diagnosis Systems using CMOS Image Sensors
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the average human life expectancy is 78.8 years. 3.2 million deaths are reported yearly due to heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and COVID-19. Diagnosing the disease is mandatory in the current way of living to avoid unfortunate deaths and maintain average life expectancy. CMOS image sensor (CIS) became a prominent technology in assisting the devices for monitoring and clinical diagnosis to treat diseases in the medical domain. To address the significance of CMOS image sensors' usage in disease diagnosis systems, this paper focuses on the CIS incorporated disease diagnosis systems related to vital organs of the human body like the heart, lungs, brain, eyes, intestines, bones, skin, blood, and bacteria cells causing diseases. The main objective is to evaluate the systems' capabilities and highlight the most potent ones with advantages, disadvantages, and accuracy, that are used in disease diagnosis. We used PRISMA workflow for study selection methodology, and the parameter-based evaluation is performed on disease diagnosis systems related to the human body's organs. The corresponding CIS models used in systems are mapped organ-wise and tabulated the data collected over the last decade
Implementing Product Diversification Strategies: A Construction Industry Perspective
In order to sustain their long-term competitiveness, construction companies are under constant pressure to strategically realign their businesses to adapt to changes in market dynamics. Risk is endemic to construction industry and product diversification has been found effective in achieving economic stability in construction companies. Construction chemicals play a major role in the construction industry and hence, their diversification is crucial to the success of operations. Construction chemicals, also known as dry mortars, belong to specialty chemicals that are used in construction industry to provide high quality performance and durability to structures. This study details a real-life example of: How product diversification can be initiated; How fast and efficiently organizations can respond to changing market and capital needs while growing this new product line
Making Primary Healthcare Services Virtual: SWOT Analysis
Primary healthcare is the first level of personal health care services. It represents the whole society approach to health care and focuses on comprehensive aspects of physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing. Rising healthcare cost, shortage of physicians, and the growing number of patients challenge traditional primary healthcare sustainability. Enabling technologies such as mobile app, video, and sensors to deliver health services would boost primary healthcare capacity and allow more patients to engage in a way that independent of time and location. This research aims to conduct a SWOT analysis as an environmental scan of virtual medical services in primary healthcare and explore the internal and external related factors
Multiclass ECG Signal Analysis Using Global Average-Based 2-D Convolutional Neural Network Modeling
Cardiovascular diseases have been reported to be the leading cause of mortality across the globe. Among such diseases, Myocardial Infarction (MI), also known as “heart attack”, is of main interest among researchers, as its early diagnosis can prevent life threatening cardiac conditions and potentially save human lives. Analyzing the Electrocardiogram (ECG) can provide valuable diagnostic information to detect different types of cardiac arrhythmia. Real-time ECG monitoring systems with advanced machine learning methods provide information about the health status in real-time and have improved user’s experience. However, advanced machine learning methods have put a burden on portable and wearable devices due to their high computing requirements. We present an improved, less complex Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based classifier model that identifies multiple arrhythmia types using the two-dimensional image of the ECG wave in real-time. The proposed model is presented as a three-layer ECG signal analysis model that can potentially be adopted in real-time portable and wearable monitoring devices. We have designed, implemented, and simulated the proposed CNN network using Matlab. We also present the hardware implementation of the proposed method to validate its adaptability in real-time wearable systems. The European ST-T database recorded with single lead L3 is used to validate the CNN classifier and achieved an accuracy of 99.23%, outperforming most existing solutions.https://doi.org/10.3390/electronics1002017
Raspberry Pi-Text Recognition Robot
Computer Vision is one of the most valuable features of robotics. A command droid Robot is a robot which can follow the given instruction using computer vision and the microcontroller. It is designed to run automatically and track the provided instruction e.g., Left, Right, Go and Stop. The robot uses a Camera, microcontroller (RASPBERRY PI), and Artificial Intelligence (COMPUTER VISION) to identify the instruction as well as follow the instruction. The robot is driven by DC motors and cameras and is used to read the instructions. The raspberry-pi interface is utilized to perform the implementation of code/algorithms. This project aims to implement the algorithm using a microcontroller and camera to get the command droid robot deliverables. Command droid robot includes the computer vision technology and computer vision has a lot of application at industrial level e.g., face reorganization system, image processing as well as in robotics
Lessons in Lawfare: Revisiting the South China Sea Ruling Five Years on
In 2012, Manila and Beijing had a standoff over the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, which the former lost to the latter in result. As a smaller power allied with the global hegemon, the Philippines opted for international arbitration pursuant to UNCLOS. A tribunal set under the Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled overwhelmingly in the Philippines’ favor in 2016. But little has changed in real terms since then. This paper explores the viewpoints and strategies of three main players: the Philippines, which preferred multilateralism and international law but changed hearts with the ascend of Duterte; China, which is cognizant of its stature in the world, makes realistic moves, and stresses on bilateral talks; and the United States, which is concerned with its strategic interests but must assure allies and contain the rising challenger. In the last part, the paper further details how this case and its aftermath has emboldened China, delivered a blow to the already struggling international law, diminished the multilateralist and liberal approaches, and provided new lessons and strategies to smaller states which find themselves surrounded by the global power competition, and shed light on American double standards, yet again. It remains unlikely that such sovereignty-sensitive issues would be resolved by international law and courts in this era
Build Back Better: The COVID-19 Pandemic and My Evolution as an Urban Music Educator
This thesis is an action research study exploring the impact the pandemic has had on my own teaching, and more generally, education and music education in the city where I teach. Data includes my own reflections on the pandemic, my own evolution as a teacher over the past eleven years, as well as interviews conducted with colleagues, parents, and students. This study seeks to explore the following questions: How has the experience of schooling during the pandemic changed my students and I? Could aspects of this experience change music education for the better going forward? The study is significant because, as Fitzpatrick (2015) says, the real experts on urban education are the students and teachers themselves. It is also a primary source historical document chronicling a significant time in history, both general and of our profession. The COVID-19 pandemic amplified long-standing inequalities in American society, and the community I serve. Technology served both as a barrier to learning and an opportunity for learning during the pandemic. As a teacher., the pandemic changed my priorities and approach to teaching music, causing me to move beyond unexamined assumptions. This has implications for my future practice as well as that of my colleagues
Video Conferencing Application
Vico is a standalone video conferencing application that runs on any modern browser that supports WebRTC. The main goal is to make video conferences efficient through automated notes and text summary to replace video recordings. Another important feature is removing language barriers by including language translation as a key component of the application
Analysis of Volatility Volume and Open Interest for Nifty Index Futures Using GARCH Analysis and VAR Model
The generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic model (GARCH) is used to estimate volatility for Nifty Index futures on day trades. The purpose is to find out if a contemporaneous or causal relation exists between volatility volume and open interest for Nifty Index futures traded on the National Stock Exchange of India, and the extent and direction of these relationships. A complete absence of bidirectional causality in any particular instance depicts noise trading and empirical analysis according to this study establishes that volume has a stronger impact on volatility compared to open interest. Furthermore, the impulse originating from volatility of volume and open interest is low.https://doi.org/10.3390/ijfs901000
