Using Quality Mechanisms to Solve a Practice Service Business Problem of Reducing Delinquent Payments

    No full text
This study focuses on the problem of small service business debt collection from delinquent customer accounts and the ways in which quality control methods can be applied to analyzing the occurrence of past due payments. Small businesses like Helthkare Products, LLC are particularly vulnerable to the risk of lower finances because of a limited source of revenue. Their customer bases tend to be smaller and therefore cannot afford to have too much outstanding debt from its customers because it puts them in a position of having a reduced working capital. The use of quality control can help small businesses understand their customers as well as their own internal business processes to make them more efficient so as to avoid and reduce delinquent payments

Modeling of the Transport Phenomena in Metal Transfer and Weld Formation of GMAW under the Shielding of Ar-He Mixtures

    No full text
A better understanding of the transport mechanism in the metal during a welding process is important for the improvements in the quality and productivity of welding. This project studied the influences of shielding gas compositions on the transport phenomena in the metal domain during gas metal arc welding (GMAW), which include the transient processes of electrode melting; the droplet formation, detachment, transfer and impingement onto the workpiece; and the weld pool dynamics and bead formation. The present study shows that electromagnetic force, which is affected by shielding gas compositions, plays the most significant role in determining the behaviors of metal transfer. For the same welding power input, the increase of He content in the mixture leads to the formation of larger droplets and the decrease of droplet detachment frequency. The predicted phenomena on metal transfer are consistent with the reported experimental observations

    Quantum Mechanics

    No full text
For a long time Scientists thought that all the basic rules like gravity and movements apply to everything in nature -- but when they studied the microscopic world of atoms, electrons, and light waves, none of these things followed the normal rules. Quantum Mechanics, however, is defined as the study of predicting behaviors of microscopic particles within the matter using mathematical formulas and measuring instruments to explore those behaviors. This kind of study takes into consideration power and precision. The laws of quantum came from different experiments and studies, when many physicists --like Max Planck, Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein, E. Schrodinger and others--began to study particles, and they discovered such new physics laws. This piece of work attempts to discuss this theory comparing the classical theory of physics to the modern theory of quantum

Effect of Curvature of the Conformal Microstrip Antenna

    No full text
A comprehensive study of the conformal microstrip printed antenna is presented. The main advantages and drawbacks of a microstrip conformal antenna are discussed. The paper discusses both conformal microstrip arrays. The effect of curvature on the conformal microstrip antenna patch on conical and spherical surfaces is studied. New flexible antenna designs are given for different frequencies . Finally, simulation studies are carried out to study the effect of the curvature on the input impedance, return loss, voltage standing wave ratio, and resonance frequency

Multilateral Peacekeeping in Africa: The Role of the UN and the African Union

    No full text
The United Nations was created to achieve international peace and security through collective measures. The international body has scored some successes in dealing with interstate conflict, but the institution has suffered significant failures in addressing intrastate conflicts. This problem has become largely evident in the addressing of security problems in developing regions, particularly in Africa. Among other things, the Western Powers' lack of high level political will, their lack of resource commitment and their doctrine of non-violation of member states sovereignty stand in the way of the UN functioning effectively in addressing the matters of internal conflicts in Africa. Under such circumstances, there seems to be no alternative but for Africans themselves to rise up and meet the challenge of peacekeeping and conflict under the auspices of the newly established African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC). Obviously, young and weakly developed, the AUPSC needs to seek more support from the UN, Western powers, African sub-regional organizations and individual states in order to effectively address widespread internal conflicts in Africa

Femto Cells: Current Status and Future Directions

    No full text
This is a survey paper on the recently developed and rapidly evolving field of femtocells. Quite often, it is noticed that cell-phone signals are strongly attenuated, when indoors, leading to call dropping or poor call quality. Femtocells are mini base stations that are deployed in users’ homes so that the user can directly connect to the cellular network through the femtocell instead of the outdoor macrocell, thereby increasing call quality. In the later stages of the paper, we also discuss the integration of the femtocell into the 3G architecture, as well as the various interference issues that the femtocell faces
