    Utilizing YouTube in Chiropractic Academia

    One of the more popular methods of learning in today's world is the implementation of social media in academia. Learning to develop one's psychomotor skills has also found new measures. The usage of Smartphone's to capture, edit and post video tutorials on to websites such as YouTube is part of the future of higher education. More than ever before, students are becoming tech savvier with computers, tablets and Smartphone's when compared to the previous generations. Learning new complex psychomotor skills is a difficult task and many students find it easier to learn when they can see a video of that skill demonstrated by the professor versus just reading from their notes and trying to reproduce those same new psychomotor skills. The utilization of YouTube in Chiropractic academia is perhaps the easiest and most affordable way to reach that goal

    As an attempt to minimize the environmental damage, the number of counterfeit medications, the potential hazard to human health, this study presents a framework for managing end-of-life pharmaceutical products. Establishing such an infrastructure capable of conducting proper EOL processing options would have numerous advantages when the environment, public health, and financial benefits are considered. Furthermore, a framework that includes environmental, economical and physical concerns for the reverse logistics operations of pharmaceutical products is proposed.     A Simulation Model for the Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

    In this paper we present a model for the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. The model takes into consideration several parameters such as the total number of sensors, network size, percentage of sink nodes, location of sensors, the mobility of sensors, and power consumption. A definition of the life time of the network based on three different criteria is introduced; percentage of available power to total power, percentage of alive sensors to total sensors, and percentage of alive sink sensors to total sink sensors. A Matlab based simulator is developed for the introduced model. A number of wireless sensor networks scenarios are presented and discussed

    Simulation based Study of TCP Variants in Hybrid Network

    © ASEE 2011Transmission control protocol (TCP) was originally designed for fixed networks to provide the reliability of the data delivery. The improvement of TCP performance was also achieved with different types of networks with introduction of new TCP variants. However, there are still many factors that affect performance of TCP. Mobility is one of the major affects on TCP performance in wireless networks and MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). To determine the best TCP variant from mobility point of view, we simulate some TCP variants in real life scenario. This paper addresses the performance of TCP variants such as TCP-Tahoe, TCP-Reno, TCP-New Reno, TCPVegas, TCP-SACK and TCP-Westwood from mobility point of view. The scenarios presented in this paper are supported by Zone routing Protocol (ZRP) with integration of random waypoint mobility model in MANET area. The scenario shows the speed of walking person to a vehicle and suited particularly for mountainous and deserted areas. On the basis of simulation, we analyze Round trip time (RTT) fairness, End-to-End delay, control overhead, number of broken links during the delivery of data. Finally analyzed parameters help to find out the best TCP variant

    Computer Aided Diagnosis System for Wireless Capsule Endoscopy Video

    Along with the advancing of technology in wireless and miniature camera, Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE), the combination of both, enables a physician to diagnose patient's digestive system without actually perform a surgical procedure. Although WCE is a technical breakthrough that allows physicians to visualize the entire small bowel noninvasively, the video viewing time takes 1 - 2 hours. Not only it sets a limit on the wide application of this technology but also it incurs considerable amount of cost. Therefore, it is important to automate such process so that the medical clinicians only focus on interested events. As an extension from our previous work that characterizes the motility of digestive tract in WCE videos, we propose a new assessment system for energy based events detection (EG-EBD) to classify the events in WCE videos. For the system, we first extract general features of a WCE video that can characterize the intestinal contractions in digestive organs. Then, the event boundaries are identified by using High Frequency Content (HFC) function. The segments are classified into WCE event by special features. In this system, we focus on entering duodenum, entering cecum, and active bleeding. This assessment system can be easily extended to discover more WCE events, such as detailed organ segmentation and more diseases, by using new special features. In addition, the system provides a score for every WCE image for each event. Using the event scores, the system helps a specialist to speedup the diagnosis process
