An Empirical Study on the Relationship between Personal Financial Risk Attitude and Psychological Risk Attitude
Traditional economic theories assumethat individuals are endowed with certain risk preferences that are unaltered by experiences. However, recent evidence indicates that physiological, cultural, and behavioral factors play an important role in an individual's willingness to take financial risks. In the context of investment decisions, many financial companies ask customers to complete a survey before they can help the customers on financial investment or portfolios. The idea and motivation behind the study stems from one of the fundamental issues of human nature - our tolerance to risk in various facets of life. Through this study we wanted to correlate innate human nature to financial risk tolerance, especially considering when planning an individuals investment strategy
An Environmental Evaluation Tool for Engineers
The objective of this study is to explore / analyze and evaluate environmental tools and propose a tool that manages various environmental resources such as air, water, energy, land, mineral etc. The study is broadly classified into two categories. First step provides a background of the environmental issues while second step proposes a computer program tailored for environmental resource management. The focus of this study is to develop an environmental evaluation tool for engineers. This can be achieved with the help of the computer program or computational tools. In environmental process design calculations are very complex in nature. The steps are repeated and it follows to the same procedure. The procedure when carried out manually is time consuming. Computer applications are proven to be useful for finding solutions due to their rapid computational ability and providing accurate results. It has shown its utility in all respects of computational work not only to save the time but also to give satisfactory accurate results. It has been accepted as one of the most efficient methods when dealing with the tedious calculations and complexity that an environment engineer has to face in real world
Corporate Bank Lending: Scenario Analysis as an Alternative to Traditional Metrics
For most financial institutions today, lending is a multistep process that often is separated from the credit review process. In an ideal situation, the credit proposal delineates the inherent risks to the transaction; however, the thrust of credit approval is more often the internal selling of the deal. As such, the credit proposal, if it does err, errs in overselling the strengths of the credit and in underestimating the risks in the transaction. In researching a new book on corporate lending, one of the authors examined some twenty loan agreements, selecting several for inclusion in the text. In every company or industry that was analyzed, the problems experienced could not have been discovered by traditional credit analysis. Instead, they resulted from several factors:performance not essentially at variance from that of its deteriorating industry negative conditions in the economy; fraud; and reduced demand due to the recession that began in 2008. The concept of scenario analysis in bank lending can only be effective if research is conducted to determine the causal factors that effect loan repayment. The authors suggest that non-performing loan experience should be studied over several years to develop regressions on selected independent variables

A New Model for Diagnosing Sleep Apnea through Features Extraction of the SpO2 Signal
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), is thenmost common form of different types of sleep-related breathing disorders. It is characterized by repetitive cessations of respiratory flow during sleep, which occur due to a collapse of the upper airway at the level of the oropharynx. The traditional diagnosis of OSA requires an expensive and complex overnight procedure called polysomnography (PSG). PSG contains several biomedical signals recording set, such as EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiration and SpO2. In contrast, simple monitoring systems can be built as cheaper alternatives to the current PSGs in the diagnosis of OSA, which can also reduce the abundant burdens of hospital sleep centers. In this study, we develop a comprehensive feature set based on the arterial oxygen saturation signal measured by pulse oximetry (SpO2) to obtain high quality signal features in discriminating the OSA. The three features of Spo2 signal which are Delta Index, Central Tendency Measure with radius 0.5 (ctm50) and Oxygen Desaturation Index(odi3) are extracted, tested and evaluated using the MATLAB toolset. It was found that SpO2 signal characteristics could be helpful in order to evaluate sleep quality

TCP-UB: A New Congestion Aware Transmission Control Protocol Variant
Transmission control protocol (TCP) is a connection oriented protocol for several types of distributed applications. TCP is reliable particularly for traditional fixed networks. With emergence of faster wireless networks, TCP has been performing poorly in its original format. The performance of TCP is affected due to assorted factors including congestion window, maximum packet size, retry limit, recovery mechanism, backup mechanism and mobility. To overcome deficiency of original TCP, Several modifications have been introduced to improve network quality. The mobility is a major hurdle in degrading the performance of mobile wireless networks. In this paper, we introduce and implement new TCP variant University of Bridgeport (UB) that combines the features of TCP Westwood and Vegas. We examine the performance of TCP-UB, Vegas and Westwood using different realistic scenarios. NS2 simulator demonstrates the stability of TCP-UB as compared with TCP Vegas and Westwood in highly congested networks from the mobility point of view
