    No full text
The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of group counseling using the group discussion technique in preventing excessive Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) behavior among students in Bojonegoro. Group counseling with the group discussion technique aims to help students understand the negative impacts of FoMO, increase self-awareness regarding social media use, and develop critical thinking and self-control skills through interaction and open exchange of ideas within the group. This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of ten students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program in Bojonegoro, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a FoMO scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test to determine the difference in FoMO levels before and after the treatment. The results showed a significant difference between FoMO scores before and after the implementation of group counseling with the group discussion technique, with a t-value of 11.354 and a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. This confirms that group counseling using the discussion technique is an effective intervention in addressing psychological challenges in the digital era such as FoMO and is relevant to be applied in school-based mental health programs

This study aims to explore the contribution of group guidance services to improving the personal discipline of santri, namely behavioral changes that arise from individual awareness and responsibility, rather than merely from rules or sanctions. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research involved four santri selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and related document analysis, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results show that group guidance services facilitate improved discipline through three main mechanisms: increasing self-awareness of regulations, developing time management skills, and providing social support from fellow group members. Active participation in discussions and group dynamics encouraged santri to reflect on their behavior, foster motivation for change, and internalize discipline values sustainably. These findings confirm that group guidance is effective as a holistic disciplinary development medium, going beyond external compliance. This study provides practical implications for guidance and counseling teachers and pesantren administrators to routinely integrate group guidance into student development, in order to foster internal motivation, responsibility, and orderly behavior among santri

The development of modern counseling theory demonstrates the need for an integrative approach that unites psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions in the formation of a healthy personality. This study aims to formulate a conceptual model of Islamic Integrative Adlerian Counseling, a theoretical framework that combines Alfred Adler’s principles of Individual Psychology with Islamic spirituality. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design, through systematic analysis of national and international scholarly sources. The findings indicate that core Adlerian values such as social interest, goal orientation, and the creative self have epistemological compatibility with Islamic teachings, particularly the concepts of tazkiyah al-nafs (purification of the self), ihsan (excellence in conduct), and ukhuwah insaniyah (human brotherhood). The integration of these elements produces a holistic counseling model oriented toward spiritual and social balance, utilizing techniques such as encouragement, muhasabah (self-reflection), and reflection on life’s meaning. Theoretically, this model enriches interdisciplinary studies between Western psychology and Islamic scholarship, while practically, it holds potential as an alternative contextual counseling approach for educational institutions and Muslim communities. These findings affirm the urgency of developing an integrative counseling paradigm aligned with divine and human values in fostering healthy personality development in the modern era

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between academic procrastination and self-regulated learning among students of SMP X. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The sample consisted of 205 eighth-grade students of SMP X selected through a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included an academic procrastination scale and a self-regulated learning scale. The procrastination scale covered four indicators: delaying the initiation or completion of tasks, believing that postponement is preferable, repetitive procrastination behavior, and difficulty in making decisions. The self-regulated learning scale comprised indicators of goal setting and planning, seeking information, keeping records and monitoring, and environmental structuring. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.126). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship (r = –0.561, p = 0.000), indicating that higher levels of self-regulated learning are associated with lower levels of academic procrastination. These findings highlight the important role of self-regulation in minimizing academic delay. This study provides a basis for educators and counselors to develop more targeted interventions and may serve as a reference for future academic support programs in schools

Students’ Language Preferences and Attitudes Toward Full English and Code-Mixing Across Proficiency Levels

    No full text
The choice of instructional language in EFL classrooms remains a key issue, especially in contexts like Indonesia, where students have limited English exposure outside class. Teachers often shift between using full English and code-mixing (English with Bahasa Indonesia). While both approaches offer pedagogical benefits, little is known about how learners at different proficiency levels perceive these practices. This study explores first-year English education students’ preferences toward full English and code-mixing at the university level and how these preferences vary by proficiency. The study involved 60 first-year students at the University of Al Ma’soem and used a Likert-scale questionnaire for data collection. Students were grouped into high and low proficiency levels based on TOEFL scores. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze responses. Results showed most students preferred code-mixing over full English. Low-proficiency students found code-mixing helpful for comprehension and anxiety reduction, while high-proficiency students were more open to full English, especially in communicative tasks. However, both groups agreed code-mixing was useful for grammar explanation and instruction delivery. The study concludes that instructional language should align with students’ proficiency and task type. A flexible approach, rather than a strict English-only policy, may better support students’ learning and emotional needs in EFL classrooms

This study investigates the effect of infographic media and peer collaboration on students' speaking ability in descriptive text learning. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a mixed-methods approach, the research was conducted at a vocational high school (SMK) in Cimahi, Indonesia. The participants consisted of 40 tenth-grade students, divided into an experimental group (n=20) and a control group (n=20). The experimental group received instruction using infographic media and peer collaboration, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure speaking ability and semi-structured interviews to understand students' experiences. The results revealed that the experimental group showed a significant improvement in speaking scores, with a mean increase from 69.00 to 79.00, compared to the control group’s increase from 68.90 to 74.80. The independent sample t-test showed a significant difference (t = 2.520, p = 0.016) between the two groups. Qualitative findings indicated that infographics enhanced comprehension and organization of ideas, while peer collaboration provided practice opportunities and constructive feedback. However, challenges such as unequal participation and the complexity of some infographics were noted. These findings suggest that integrating visual and collaborative learning strategies can effectively enhance students' speaking ability in descriptive tasks.uld not repeat the information already present in the title. No full text
This qualitative study explores how Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) supports students in learning cultural and moral values through narrative texts. Conducted in a vocational high school in Karawang, the research involved classroom observation and interviews with tenth-grade students. The CSR strategy, consisting of four stages: preview, click and clunk, get the gist, and wrap up, was implemented to guide students through reading activities. Findings reveal that each stage contributed to students’ understanding by encouraging prediction, vocabulary development, identification of main ideas, and reflection on values. Students were able to connect the content of the narrative text with real-life cultural and moral themes, enhancing both their reading comprehension and character awareness. The strategy also promoted collaborative learning, active participation, and engagement in value-based discussions. CSR supported not only language development but also the internalization of positive character traits through meaningful reading experiences
