Spectral problem for the complex mKdV equation: singular manifold method and Lie symmetries

    No full text
This article addresses the study of the complex version of the modifiedKorteweg-de Vries equation using two different approaches. Firstly, thesingular manifold method is applied in order to obtain the associated spectralproblem, binary Darboux transformations and τ\tau-functions. The second partconcerns the identification of the classical Lie symmetries for the spectralproblem. The similarity reductions associated to these symmetries allow us toderive the reduced spectral problems and first integrals for the ordinarydifferential equations arising from such reductions.Comment: This article is intended to be published in the special issue dedicated to Prof. Decio Levi (in Open Communications in Nonlinear Mathematical Physics

    Representing polynomial of ST-CONNECTIVITY

    No full text
We show that the coefficients of the representing polynomial of any monotoneBoolean function are the values of the M\"obius function of an atomisticlattice related to this function. Using this we determine the representingpolynomial of any Boolean function corresponding to a ST-CONNECTIVITY problemin acyclic quivers (directed acyclic multigraphs). Only monomials correspondingto unions of paths have non-zero coefficients which are (1)D(-1)^D where DD isan easily computable function of the quiver corresponding to the monomial (itis the number of plane regions in the case of planar graphs). We determine thatthe number of monomials with non-zero coefficients for the two-dimensional n×nn\times n grid connectivity problem is 2Ω(n2)2^{\Omega(n^2)}.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure

Elimination distance to bounded degree on planar graphs

    No full text
We study the graph parameter elimination distance to bounded degree, whichwas introduced by Bulian and Dawar in their study of the parameterizedcomplexity of the graph isomorphism problem. We prove that the problem isfixed-parameter tractable on planar graphs, that is, there exists an algorithmthat given a planar graph GG and integers dd and kk decides in timef(k,d)ncf(k,d)\cdot n^c for a computable function~ff and constant cc whether theelimination distance of GG to the class of degree dd graphs is at most kk.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figur

    Compositional Confluence Criteria

    No full text
We show how confluence criteria based on decreasing diagrams are generalizedto ones composable with other criteria. For demonstration of the method, theconfluence criteria of orthogonality, rule labeling, and critical pair systemsfor term rewriting are recast into composable forms. We also show how such acriterion can be used for a reduction method that removes rewrite rulesunnecessary for confluence analysis. In addition to them, we prove thatToyama's parallel closedness result based on parallel critical pairs subsumeshis almost parallel closedness theorem

One Belt One Road : une nouvelle architecture des flux mondiaux sous influence chinoise

    No full text
China’s One Belt One Road (OBOR) strategy was launched in September 2013 by Xi Jinping. It is a global transports infrastructure strategy that covers both land (road and rail) and sea roads by connecting ports from Asia to Europe through Africa. With a budget of more than 1,400 billion dollars, it is one of the most important strategies on a global scale. The purpose of this article is firstly to characterize this strategy, from its foundations to the actual enactment modalities. It is then to propose an interpretation based on a Braudelian reading in terms of world economy and hegemonic posture leading to the emergence of new asian global value chains.

Perspectives on interpersonal utility comparisons: an analysis of selected models

    No full text
Recently, new models for comparing the strength of individual preferences have been proposed. This perspective article discusses these models within the context of different accounts of how people attribute mental states to others. The paper highlights that the new models share a common shortcoming with Harsanyi’s Equiprobability Model of Moral Value Judgments, which is the inability to facilitate interpersonal comparisons of preference strengths

Difference varieties and the Green-Lazarsfeld Secant Conjecture

    No full text
The Green-Lazarsfeld Secant Conjecture is a generalization of Green'sConjecture on syzygies of canonical curves to the cases of arbitrary linebundles. We establish the Green-Lazarsfeld Secant Conjecture for curves ofgenus g in all the divisorial case, that is, when the line bundles that fail tobe (p+1)-very ample form a divisor in the Jacobian of the curve.Comment: 12 pages. Study on the Domain Adaption of Korean Speech Act using Daily Conversation Dataset and Petition Corpus

    No full text
In Korean, quantitative speech act studies have usually been conducted on single utterances with unspecified sources. In this study, we annotate sentences from the National Institute of Korean Language's Messenger Corpus and the National Petition Corpus, as well as example sentences from an academic paper on contemporary Korean vlogging, and check the discrepancy between human annotation and model prediction. In particular, for sentences with differences in locutionary and illocutionary forces, we analyze the causes of errors to see if stylistic features used in a particular domain affect the correct inference of speech act. Through this, we see the necessity to build and analyze a balanced corpus in various text domains, taking into account cases with different usage roles, e.g., messenger conversations belonging to private conversations and petition corpus/vlogging script that have an unspecified audience

Universality for tropical and logarithmic maps

    No full text
We prove that every toric monoid appears in a space of maps from tropicalcurves to an orthant. It follows that spaces of logarithmic maps to Artin fansexhibit arbitrary toric singularities: a virtual universality theorem forlogarithmic maps to pairs. The target rank depends on the chosen singularity:we show that the cone over the 7-gon never appears in a space of maps to a rank1 target. We obtain similar results for tropical maps to affine space.Comment: 22 pages. Comments welcome. v4: Published version in journal styl
