    Stability Test of Combination of Aloe Vera (Aloe vera (L.) Webb) and Honey Gel Using 2 Different Na-CMC Bases

    Aloe vera (L.) Webb and honey have been used medicinally in several cultures for thousands of years to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Gel dosage formulations can be done with several types of ingredients by taking into account the selection of the gelling agent used. This study aims to determine the stability of a gel preparation made from the active combination of aloe vera extract and honey with 2 different Na CMC bases, namely 5 grams (F1) and 2.5 grams (F2). Aloe vera is extracted by maceration method and then made into a gel preparation according to the predetermined formulation. The combination gel formulation of aloe vera extract and honey was evaluated based on organoleptic test, viscosity test, preparation pH, homogeneity, and dispersibility. The results showed that the homogeneity and pH of the preparations were in accordance with the specified criteria, but the viscosity and spreadability tests did not meet the specified criteria. The organoleptic results of the two formulas have a yellowish brown color, a slightly pungent odor and a slightly sticky texture. It was concluded that the best gel in the dosage formulation used in this study was a gel based on 5 grams of Na CMC (F1)

    Dental caries is one of the oral and dental problems in Indonesia. One of the causes of dental caries is the accumulation of dental plaque which is caused by food residue that sticks to the teeth and undergoes fermentation by the bacteria Streptococcus mutans. Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata Roxb) is one of Indonesia\u27s native plants which contains flavonoids, tannins and saponins which can inhibit bacterial growth. The purpose of this study was to formulate the extract of temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata Roxb) into a toothpaste preparation and the physical quality of these preparations. The key extract was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol as a solvent. Divided into several toothpaste preparations made with the concentration of extract of temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata Roxb) FI 2%, FII 4%, FIII 6% with uniform toothpaste. Evaluation of dental preparations including homogeneity, organoleptic, pH, dispersibility and foam height tests. The test results of the three formulations of dental preparations showed that the three formulations were homogeneous, there was no organoleptic change, the pH range of toothpaste from 6.5 to 8.0 which fulfilled the pH requirements of toothpaste according to SNI 12-3524-1995 were 4.5 - 10, 5, the spreadability test of 6.5 to 8.0 cm, and the test of the height range of the foam from 6.6 to 8.3 cm

    Appendicitis is a disease caused by vermimorphic inflammation caused by blockages in the lining of the appendix, so it is necessary to perform surgery to treat the pain caused postoperatively will give a feeling of discomfort and potential complications, therapy given to control the pain that is analgetic administration. The purpose of this study is to know the pattern of analgetic use, evacuate the pattern of analgetic use and know the effectiveness of analgetic use in patients post-surgical appendicitis at RSUP Fatmawati Jakarta Year 2019 with retrospective methods and univariate statstic test to determine the distribution of patient characteristics and distribution of analytical use then wilcoxon statistical test to know the relationship of analytical use to decrease the degree of pain. The results of the study were based on univariate methods of patients suffering from mild pain as much as (60.0%), moderate pain (40.0%) then after administered analgetic patients who do not feel pain (10,5%) mild pain (88.4%) moderate pain (1,1%), then the results of each analgetic wilcoxon test showed, that the administration of a single analgetik influences the decrease in the degree of nnyeri with the results of P-value for Tramadol, Paracetamol, and Ketorolac <0,05,then for analgetic combination of two analgetic combinations that do not give the effect of Ketorolac +Mefenamic Acid, Paracetamol +Ketorolac with the result of P-value >0,005

    The Administration Effect from Guava Fruit Juice (Psidium guajava) Towards Cholesterol Reduction on Hypercholesterolemia Patients

    Red guava (Psidium guajava) fruits contain lots of vitamin C with 183,5 mg/ 100g. Vitamin C has been researched to have an antioxidant activity that can lower total cholesterol levels. This study aims to analyze meat guava juice\u27s effect in reducing total cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemia patients in Samarinda. The research method is quasi-experimental, pre-test and post-test with control design, with purposive sampling as a sampling method. In the study research, as many as ten people were divided into two groups, group one was given a dose of 250 g once a day, and group two was given a dose of 125 g twice a day and both treatments were given 14-days. Cholesterol data is taken by strip-test method and data analysis using paired T-Test. The analysis results obtained a p-value for the treatment group one of 0.018, for treatment group two of 0,00, and the difference between groups one and two of 0,00. The analysis results showed p-value <0.05. Thus, there was no significant difference between the two treatments. So, it can be concluded that red guava fruit juice with a dose of 250 g once a day and a dose of 125 g twice a day can affect lowering cholestero

    Research on avocado seed extract (Persea americana.) At 1% and 3% concentrations for the manufacture of solid soap preparations and physical quality testing of solid soap preparations has been carried out. Avocado seeds have the ability as an antioxidant which can inhibit the main factor in the aging process. This study aims to determine that avocado seed extract (Persea americana.) Can be used as a solid soap with a concentration of 1% and 3% which meet the physical quality test requirements which include pH test, foam power test, organoleptic test, and homogeneity test. The design of this research is experimental research. Avocado seed extract was obtained from the maceration process with 70% ethanol and phytochemical screening was carried out. Making soap formulation is done by calculating using the Lye Calculator and making soap using the Cold Process method. The research results were processed using descriptive analysis. The treatments in this research were the concentration methods added were 1% and 3%. The homogeneity test showed that the three solid soap formulations of avocado seed extract (Persea americana.) Were still homogeneous as indicated by the absence of coarse grains or particles on the surface of the avocado seed extract (Persea americana.) Solid soap which was seen in plain view on the solid soap without the addition of the extract and the concentration of 3%. Meanwhile, the concentration of 1% looks like it is semi-homogeneous. The organoleptic results showed different forms, the formula without the addition of extract and a concentration of 1% had a solid form while the formula with a concentration of 3% had a solid and hard form. The formula without the addition of the extract and the concentration of 1% has a distinctive aroma of lux soap while the formula with a concentration of 3% has a distinctive aroma of avocado seed leaves which is more concentrated, the color of the preparation in each formula is different, influenced by variations in the concentration of mango leaf extract. The high stability of the foam with a height of 9cm and a pH value is in accordance with SNI 06 - 3532 - 2016 with a pH value of 9-11

    Lintut plants are herbaceous plants that can grow in soft or watery soil. Research on leaf extracts against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Salmonella typhi has never been done. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of leaf extract against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Salmonella typhi. The research stages began with the manufacture of simplicia, the manufacture of ethanol extract of lintut leaves, the ethanol extract phytochemical screening test, and the antibacterial activity test using the well diffusion method. The study was conducted using 3 groups of concentrations of lintut leaf extract, namely 7%, 9% and 10% with ampicillin 0.1% as a positive control and aquadest as a negative control. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the leaf extract positively contained triterpenoids / steroids and tannins. Antibacterial activity using the well diffusion method showed that the extracts of lintut leaves with a concentration of 7%, 9% and 10% were not significantly different. The best concentration in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Salmonella typhi was at a concentration of 7%. The positive control used, namely ampicillin, produced a larger diameter of the inhibition zone compared to the diameter of the extract inhibition zone

    Antibacterials are compounds that are useful in controlling bacterial growth that can harm humans and avoid pathogens that can be a source of disease for the body. Nutmeg essential oil (Myristica fragrans Houtt.) Is known to contain various compounds including flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols and terpenoids which can be used as antibacterial agents. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of nutmeg essential oil as an antibacterial. The antibacterial test method uses the well diffusion method using a 6 mm buffer. Nutmeg essential oil is made in 4 concentration series, namely F1 (40%), F2 (60%), F3 (80%), F4 (100%), 10% DMSO control. The data analysis method is a descriptive method in the form of data that is presented in the form of tables and figures. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the essential oil of nutmeg leaves had antibacterial activity against Escherchia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus epidermidis in the best concentrations, namely 100% respectively of 6.79mm ? 0.67; 5.56mm ? 0.18; 6.75mm ? 0.82; 14.61mm ? 1.10; 17.03 mm ? 3.90; 5.39mm ? 0.75; control there is no antibacterial activity. The response of each bacteria was medium-strong and the best concentration was taken from the highest concentration because the higher the essential oil concentration of nutmeg leaves, the greater the bacterial inhibitory activity

    Tiwai onion (Eleutherine Americana Merr) is a typical Kalimantan plant that is known to have various benefits. Local people use tiwai onions as a remedy for various types of diseases and plants which are provided as colorants in food or in cosmetic products because they have a red color caused by anthocyanin pigments. This study aims to make a lipbalm formulation from the extract (Eleutherine Americana Merr). The method used is experimental research methods. The test of the extract reaction was in the form of organoleptic, pH and solubility. The results obtained were the extract of tiwai onion extract in the form of organoleptic (color: brick red, thick extract, distinctive odor of tiwai onion), pH (5.86), solubility (soluble in ethanol, methanol and distilled water) which was in accordance with the parameters with Deng The results of the tiwai onion extract which can be formulated in lipbalm formulations (F1, F2, F3) have homogeneity in accordance with the parameters, the appropriate pH is F1 (5.79-6.20), F2 (5.87-6). , 21), and F3 (5,91-6,14) and for F1 organoleptics (color: milk orange, oleum rosae distinctive aroma, soft and smooth texture), F2 (color: light orange, oleum rosae distinctive aroma, soft texture and smooth, and F3 (color: orange, distinctive aroma of oleum rosae, soft and smooth texture). It can be neglected that tiwai onion extract can be formulated in lipbalm preparations

    In Silico Study of Pyrazoline Derivative Compounds against Eschericia coli Bacteria

    The development of antibiotics is needed to overcome drug resistance. Penicillin binding protein 5 (PBP5) Eschericia coli bacteria is one of the targets because it plays a role in maintaining cell shape. Pyrazolina is a compound that contains two nitrogen atoms where the two nitrogen atoms are close together and are responsible as an antibacterial agent that can disrupt the cell wall. The target molecule was downloaded from the Protein Data Bank (www.rcsb.org) (PDB ID: 6NTZ). The grid used is 20 ? x 26? x 32? with a center of 29,731?, -9,112 ? and 35,821 ?. Based on the results of the docking that has been carried out from 10 pyrazoline derivative test compounds, the resulting binding energy varies. There are 5 pyrazoline derivative compounds having binding energy lower than the natural ligands -6.27 kcal / mol. Compound P8 has the lowest value compared to other test compounds with a binding energy value of -7.69 kcal / mol. Based on the interaction, P2 and P3 compounds have interactions that are similar to the original ligands due to the presence of Pi-Donor hydrogen bonds with the amino acids SER 73 and SER 139. The results of molecular docking studies show that pyrazoline derivatives play a role in Eschericia coli bacteria

    Nanas (Ananas comosus L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman di indonesia yang sangat berpotensi untuk dikembangkan karena mempunyai banyak manfaat. Nanas mengandung banyak vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin E dan enzim bromelin. Sedangkan kulit nanas yang hanya dianggap sampah yang tidak memiliki manfaat, padahal kulit nanas mengandung enzim bromelin, karotenoid, vitamin C dan flavonoid yang baik bagi kesehatan. Kandungan flavonoid dalam kulit nanas dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai antioksidan, anti alergi, anti inflamasi, dan anti bakteri. Antioksidan kulit nanas dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pelindung kulit karena dapat mencegah terjadinya radikal bebas dan dapat diaplikasikan dalam bentuk sediaan sabun padat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sabun padat ekstak kulit nanas dan menguji mutu fisik sesuai Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Metode penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental yang terdiri dari pembuatan simplisia dan ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 70%. Formulasi menggunakan ekstrak kulit nanas dengan konsentrasi 0% (basis), 1% (F1), 3% (F2). Evaluasi karakteristik fisik sabun padat meliputi pengamatan organoleptis, pengujian homogenitas, uji pH, uji daya busa. Sediaan di evaluasi selama 4 minggu, data dianalisis secara deksriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ke tiga formula menghasilkan sabun padat yang homogen, bertekstur padat dan halus, beraroma wangi, Basis (berwarna putih pekat kekuningan), F1 (berwarna putih pekat kekuningan), F2 (berwarna putih pekat kekuningan). Nilai pH pada basis, F1, F2 adalah 9,52 ,9,35, 9,45. Hasil organoleptis pada sediaan sabun padat basis, F1, F2 tidak mengalami perubahan. Nilai homogenitas pada sabun padat basis, F1, F2 tidak mengalami perubahan. Nilai uji daya busa sabun padat basis, F1, F2 tetap stabil. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini yaitu mutu fisik sediaan sabun padat ekstrak kulit nanas memenuhi syarat SNI dan stabil selama penyimpanan 4 minggu
