    Aggregation Index in Representative Soils of the Paraiba State: Brazil in Different Stages of Pedological Development

    The stability of soil aggregates is an important physical parameter as it mainly influences the flow of water and air in the soil. In this sence, the research aimed to determine the stability aggregates index in six representative soil classes in the Paraíba State-Brazil at different stages of pedological development. The soil classes analyzed is localized on the Microregions of the Curimataú Occidental (Ferrasol, Planosol, Leptosol, Arenosol) and Brejo Paraibano (Acrisol, Lixisol), on the Paraíba state, Brazil. At depths of 0-5 cm, 5-10 cm and 10-20 cm was collected three undeformed soil samples were collected per mini trench (one per depth), making a total of 15 samples per soil class and 90 total samples.  In each soil class was analysed: chemical parameters, granulometrics parameters, stability of agregates,  Weighted average diameter via wet sieving (DMPAu) and Weighted average diameter via dry sieving (DMPAs); agregate stability index (IEA). For the conditions that research was developed can conclude that: The IEA values tended to increase with clay contents in all soil classes; Among the less developed soils, the IEA values were better in the  Planosol soil, denoting that there is a probable relationship with the low contents of K, Na and Al; In the more developed soils, the high values of Na and Al may have contributed to the lower IEA in the PVd, while the lower values may have contributed to the higher IEA in Ferrasol and Lixisol soils

    Mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic: An integrative review on the impacts of social distancing on the occurrence of anxiety and depression symptoms

    This study aimed to investigate the impacts of social distancing on the occurrence of symptoms of anxiety and depression reported in scientific production available in 2020, describing and analyzing the main triggering factors of mental health problems/diseases in the period of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used was an integrative literature review, with searches in Lilacs, SciELO, Medline, and PubMed databases. The following descriptors were used for the selection of publications: Social Distancing, Anxiety, and Depression, used in combination in the search strategy. To refine the search, filters were used: full text; Language Portuguese, English, and Spanish; Main subject; Type of document, with an article as the only type of literature accepted; Year of Publication 2020. This research identified 37 studies later categorized into five main themes: Physical Inactivity, Reduction of social contact and face-to-face interactions, Financial concerns and economic vulnerability, Loneliness, and Alcohol Consumption. The major impacts of social distancing on mental health were the drastic change in routine, favoring sedentary behavior, and limitation in interpersonal contact indicated in many studies as a generator of a high prevalence of harmful psychological effects, especially depression, anxiety, irritability, and irritability episodes of insomnia. The perception of loneliness as a consequence of the period of social distancing was also identified by most studies as associated with anxious and depressive outcomes and with an increased risk of suicidal ideation, as well as the increased use of alcohol, widely used as an escape from reality in the current context of economic resection, unemployment, indebtedness, and death of family and friends by COVID-19

    Cognitive Impairment Among Collegiate African American Student-Athletes Who Have One Or More Concussions

    The purpose of this research was to examine concussion induced cognitive impairment among collegiate athletes for a long term. This study attempted to determine if there was a significant decrease in cognitive function in student-athletes with a history of concussion after one year of concussion. Totally 46 student athletes who were qualified was included in this study. Of all the 46 student athletes, 14 are females, and 32 males from the following sports: Women’s Basketball (n=3), Men’s Basketball (n=2), Football (n=30), Softball (n=7), Women’s Tennis (n=2), and Women’s Volleyball (n=2) (Table 1). The age range was18-23 years old. Seven of them had two or more concussions Results of this study showed that while all the scores of the ImPACT test improved after one year of concussion for the student-athletes with one or more concussions, there was significant improvement only in the processing speed. For the student-athletes with two or more concussions, the processing speed score after one year of concussions was a little lower even than the score after initial concussion, but it is not statistically significant. &nbsp

    Synthesis and Antibacterial Property of An Encapsulated Sulfonamide Nanoparticle in a Multidisciplinary Approach

    Multigram quantity of a novel Sulfa Drug complex -poly(amido)amine-sulfonamide or PAMAM-Sulfa- was synthesized, from commercially available materials. It was characterized with spectroscopic methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The Kirby-Bauer test was used to test it against gram positive and/or gram negative bacteria using different concentrations of an ethanol solution of the PAMAM-Sulfa complex. The goal of this experiment was to synthesize and study the effect of water soluble encapsulated sulfonamides on common bacteria by undergraduate students engaging in research involving more than one STEM discipline. Students synthesized a dendrimer-sulfonamide complex before evaluating its antibiotic properties. In doing so, students employed research methods that are common to chemistry, biology and nanoscience while also learning about mechanism of infectious diseases, drugs and drug resistance. This project allowed students to combine aspects of scientific research that are usually done separately, and an opportunity to observe the seamlessness of multidisciplinary science

    Production Line Virtualization Process Using Plant Simulation Tool

    The constant changes in the world generate demands for improvements in processes, either by reducing costs or increasing capacity. One of the most used methods today for process optimization is Discrete Simulation. This research presents a discrete simulation application, using the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software to simulate a production line in the Manaus Industrial Pole. Mathematical modeling made it possible to understand the parameters involved in the production process and worked as a guide for the production line\u27s composition in the Plant Simulation environment. The production line modeled in Plant Simulation used real input data obtained in two months of production in 2020. The results obtained showed that the modeling reached the objective of virtualizing the production process, once that the differences between the simulation and the real process were at most 1.07%

    Problem-Based Learning as reinforcement for remote teaching in times of COVID-19 using the moodle learning environment

    In times of pandemic, the social distance made the teaching practice suffer several adjustments to meet emerging demands, thus the aim of this study was to report the experience of the authors with problem-based learning as reinforcement to remote teaching in times of COVID-19 utilizing the moodle learning environment, as a way to implement changes in the discipline Interdisciplinary Project II of the Undergraduate Nursing course, which has always been offered in the face-to-face modality. The study was conducted from March to July 2021 with students enrolled in the course. The results of this study indicate that the use of problem-based learning resources during remote teaching can become an efficient resource for professional training

    The use of technologies such as educational software and robotics to support the teaching and learning process is increasing. Educational robotics has proven to arouse interest in students, as it allows physical handling and active participation in the learning process. In this sense, this manuscript aims to describe the Educational Robotics research project as an Incentive to the Study of Science approved in PROPPI EDITAL No. 77/2017 - INTERNAL SOURCE 2018/2019, which had as a proposal to integrate undergraduates of Licentiate Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science of IFRS - Campus Ibirubá to jointly carry out analyzes and develop procedures for teaching and learning science (mathematics/physics) using Educational Robotics resources, motivating students of the Technical Course in Computing Integrated to High School. Thus, while this project offered an internship field for undergraduates, it promoted interest in the study of science among participants, leading them to engage and promoting greater participation

    Teachers’ Critical Challenges and Opportunities in Modular Distance Delivery

    This paper explores the challenges and opportunities in Modular Distance Delivery. Data was collected from elementary schools of Bayugan City Division, Philippines. This research applied descriptive-quantitative-correlational method. The subject of this research are the Elementary teachers in Bayugan City Division Philippines. The study revealed that, support from the school in crafting modules for modular distance learning is very important to make an effective and efficient material for effective instructional delivery. It further explains that there is no significant difference among teachers’ critical challenges and opportunities in modular distance learning delivery. This means that the participants profile does not define their effectivity. No matter what the challenges in terms of modular distance learning delivery they do not back out they pass through it. The result of the study recommends to the DepEd School heads and administrators to support on crafting educational modules to create a well-crafted instructional material to address the needs of the learners especially in modular distance learning. Aside from that, teachers also ensure that the modules created suits to the needs of the learners

    Bilingual Summarization of English and Arabic Genetic Diseases Texts

    Health Literacy aims at empowering patients to take better decisions about their health. The quality of Health Literacy for patients with genetic diseases can be enriched via facilitating the bilingual retrieval of summaries about the genetic diseases texts from the net. This paper proposes helps translator to achieve this task by utilizing NLP and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) techniques for two tasks: generating abstractive summarizations and making Arabic-English translation. Both summarization and translation tasks require training sets that can be built from English summaries corpus and Arabic-English parallel corpora. The English summaries corpus is built from Orphadata while the parallel corpora is built from Wiki articles. The corpus is utilized for generating the English summaries from the Wiki articles, and the corpora is utilized for translating these summaries into Arabic. This paper defines the research problem. Then, it investigates a set of objectives to solve the problem. After that, it presents a literature review of the tasks in the objectives. Finally, it discusses the proposed solution for the problem from the following aspects: the required corpora, the system architecture, the RNN memory cell components architectures, the proposed software for the implementation, and the system evaluation

    Governance proposal for an innovation center inserted in a referred ecosystem: The case of Maceió

    As an important economic and social transformation strategy that has been adopted throughout the world, the formation of local innovation ecosystems constitutes a network of cooperation in favor of local development through the innovation economy formed by different types of actors. Among these actors, innovation habitats stand out, in particular, innovation centers that bring together in a single location several mechanisms, programs and other habitats in one place, and can thus become an epicenter of innovation ecosystems. However, depending on the degree of maturity of the ecosystem, the management and integration of an innovation center may have certain difficulties in its execution, therefore, this article presents a governance model, called hive, based on the case of the innovation center Jaraguá in Maceió/AL, recently launched within an ecosystem still under construction. At the end, a unique new look at the governance of an innovation center in a reference ecosystem is launched, demonstrating its main obstacles, strengths and how the flow of knowledge is developed in it
