    Get PDF
The research aimed to define competencies for telework through a systematic review of the literature, through a two-stage survey: (I) bibliographic survey in the Web of Science (WoS) database, and (II) selection of articles published between the years 2016 and 2020, after reading the abstracts, based on the criterion of adherence to the research theme, and further appreciation and presentation of the studies. As a result, the definitions of the competencies for telework are gathered around four macro-competencies, which situate knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary for the virtual context, which combine the separation of technical and support competencies with the words “Collaborative work”, “Problem-based learning”, “Team work” and Interculture. These are: (I) Technical-operational competencies for telework, (II) Technical-relational competencies for telework, (III) Support organizational-managerial competencies for telework, (IV) Leadership organizational competencies in supporting telework. Derived from the discussions, it is considered, in the context of “big crisis”, it is suggested analysis on mental health and on the values of openness (innovation and expression of creativity) associated with the challenges for the development of competencies for telework

Port logistics viability analysis: Case study of the autonomous port of Cotonou (BENIN) (PAC)

    No full text
This article aims to perform the logistic viability analysis of PAC for West Africa using the AHP multicriteria method. This port contributes largely in the country\u27s economy through customs and tax revenues, the formation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and also in international trade. Four criteria (quality of infrastructure and services, equipment productivity, and logistics cost of cargo) were modeled. With the result, the port infrastructure criterion is most important, followed by the port equipment criterion. Showing the importance of each port logistics viability criterion (infrastructure, service, equipment, cost), the alternative long-term logistics viability is preferable to the medium-term and short-term. The application of the AHP shows in its result that for long-term port logistics viability, it is preferable to invest more in modern and quality infrastructure and equipment

The study has as general objective to analyze the scenario of the municipalities in the microregion of Vilhena, State of Rondônia, based on the federal government\u27s rural credit policy, in order to identify the possible livestock processes that would be carried out in this microregion. It is an applied, descriptive, cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach, since the objectives generate knowledge for practical application, which includes the number of contracts and the volume of financial resources for agriculture and livestock in the municipalities of Chupinguaia, Parecis, Pimenta Bueno, Primavera de Rondônia, São Felipe D\u27Oeste and Vilhena of the micro-region of Vilhena, Rondônia, Brazilian Amazon, in the period corresponding to the years 2000 and 2010. Data collection was carried out through reports from the rural credit statistical yearbook of the Central Banco do Brasil for the years 2000 and 2010. Based on the results found by the research, it was evidenced that in the municipalities of the microregion of Vilhena there was a process of cattle ranching, through the incentive of the rural credit policy granted to family rural producers, where it was observed that among the six municipalities that comprise In the micro-region of Vilhena, all of them presented a strong stimulus to the livestock sector, demonstrating a reversal of agricultural activity for livestock in this micro-region

    Get PDF
This study aimed to describe the prevalence of invasive breast cancer (IBC) in women assisted in a public hospital in Brazil and to establish a correlation between two models of classification by immunophenotypes, one of them based on the 13th St. Gallen Conference classification and the other on biomarker-defined subtypes based on HER2 and oestrogen receptor status, as described in World Health Organization (WHO). We selected IBC of 1335 cases between 1994 and 2018. Univariate frequencies and associations were estimated using chi-square tests. The concordance between the two immunohistochemical analysis models above mentioned using Cohen\u27s kappa coefficients. The most prevalent subtype was luminal B/HER2, and the frequency of tumours with a worse prognosis was 62.7%. Has been identified an association between histological grade 3 (G3) and the worst prognostic subtypes: non-luminal A, Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), non-ER+/HER2- and ER-/HER2-. A similar association was found in nuclear G3 tumours. The results showed agreement between 99.48% and 100% when we compared the two immunohistochemical analysis models. Furthermore, there was an absolute agreement between the two models of immunohistochemical analysis. These results can contribute to institutions that do not have a molecular investigation, enabling accessible routine practice tools. Among the most important questions addressed in this work is the association between histological and nuclear G3 with the worst prognostic subtypes. Using the St. Gallen Conference classification and HER2 and ER status based on subtypes verified the feasibility of selecting IBC with different prognoses and correlated them with recognized predictive and prognostic factors

Difficulties in maintaining productivity and engaging teams in home office

    Get PDF
Technological advances have allowed for new work concepts, modifying the way communication takes place, through tools, platforms and devices, enabling models such as home office. The difficulties of maintaining productivity and engaging teams in a home office regime is a relevant reality for many organizations today. In this scenario, this research aims to identify the challenges of maintaining productivity and engaging teams in a home office regime. To achieve the proposed objective, an exploratory, descriptive, and quantitative research was carried out, with 37 process managers. With this research, it was concluded that the evolution of home office management is intense, but aspects such as managing the journey, adapting the environment, training the team through the online mode, methods of maintaining commitment, generating networking alternatives and exchange of experiences, can be improved by organizations over time

Study of association models for determining the growth of the fleet of motor vehicles in the Metropolitan Region of Cariri, Ceará

    Get PDF
The quality of life underlying the modern society can be attributed to several factors, among them, the technological and economic development experienced in recent years. Durable consumer goods are part of this modern society, such as automobiles. However, because most automobiles are powered by the combustion of fossil fuels, the emission of greenhouse gases is a worrisome environmental problem. The objective of this article is to analyze Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data, population and SELIC rate (SELIC stands for Special System of Settlement and Custody) in the period from 2001 to 2020 to evaluate the impact on the number of vehicles in the Cariri Metropolitan Region (RMC), using multivariate models. It was verified that the fleet of the RMC experienced an increase of 561.45% in the last 20 years. Three prediction models were tested and the conclusion was reached that for the next 20 years it is not sustainable to maintain the same growth already experienced, in a linear manner. Instead, the ideal is to adopt a model with growth forecast with a logarithmic function, i. e. with a stationary tendency in the long time. In a society where over 50% of vehicles are more than 10 years old, it is essential that public managers, the private initiative, the academic-scientific environment and society adopt sustainable practices and consider future scenarios to make decisions in order to preserve the environment and to ensure everyone\u27s quality of life

Did Science Leadership Fail SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination Acceptance? Science Leadership SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination

    No full text
The 21st century brought unprecedented challenges for academic medicine. Then, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) arrived—and has attributed to more than 600,000 deaths in the United States (US) alone. Two, readily available, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are more than 90% effective in preventing Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Yet, only 55% of all Americans have been partially vaccinated and 45% are fully vaccinated. Most new COVID-19 cases occur in unvaccinated people. In select regions across the US, intensive care units are, once again, overfilled. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has spread far beyond healthcare causing global socioeconomic disruptions and affecting overall human well-being. In my classroom, getting it less than 60% right earns a student an F grade. America has failed to convince its people of the vaccine benefit. How? Was it the government? It is no secret that most Americans don’t trust the government. Did science leadership fail to communicate with the public? Should our educators have taught us more science? Did physicians fail to be open and transparent with their patients? Should we be a more trusting nation? Perhaps all –perhaps none—of these are contributing factors. Is human response behavior taking a toll on human life? One thing is for sure. It is a great injustice that American lives continue to be lost and that others continue to live in fear. More than two millennia ago, the philosopher Socrates argued that humility is the greatest of all virtues. In this report, I elaborate on humble leadership by scientists to improve the imperfect art of communication as a solution to heal our beloved nation

Mental health and workers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: an international literature Survey

    Get PDF
In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that Covid-19 reached a pandemic level. In this regard, quarantine measures were applied by governmental organizations. Such measures had a negative impact on the mental health of the whole population, and thus, of the workers. This study aims to survey the international literature on aspects of mental health in workers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, available in the Scopus database. The methodology used is classified as exploratory, descriptive, and quantitative with a bibliometric approach. After searching and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 217 documents were retrieved. For analysis, 7 thematic axes were organized, pointing out the main findings of each topic. As results, it was found that there is an important academic production on mental health aspects of health professionals, and less investigations with workers from other contexts. Still, it was identified that Brazilian researchers have played an important role in the production of this knowledge. It is concluded that the entire scientific community is engaged, especially in the health field, to conduct investigations addressing aspects of mental health and workers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic

The Whole-Body Vibration in Bus Drivers: Association with Physical Fitness and Low Back Pain

    No full text
The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between exposure to whole body vibration, prevalence of low back pain and level of physical fitness in bus drivers. The measurement of whole body vibration was in 100 city buses with different characteristics and the prevalence of low back pain was assessed in 200 drivers with a measurement of physical fitness level. Descriptive statistics with mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics were used with the Kurskal-Wallis test, Dunn\u27s multiple comparisons test, Poisson regression and significance level of p <0.05. The results demonstrate significant differences between the vehicle models, characterizing the conventional and articulated buses on the y and z axes with higher levels of vibration. Drivers working with conventional and articulated vehicles had a higher prevalence of low back pain with 57.5 and 60%, respectively. The level of physical fitness was low in most of the sample, however, the drivers of bi-articulated and micro bus had higher levels. Poisson regression with the outcome of low back pain, showed the factors that showed a significant prediction: age, working time, abdominal muscle resistance, lumbar strength, RMSy and RMSz
