Design and calculation of heat transfer of the passive cooling modules for low-pressure hydrogen vessels
This paper deals with the issue of improving the temperature management of a metal hydride tank to reduce the energy intensity of cooling. The problem of absorption and adsorption of hydrogen gas in metals, cooling of metal hydride tanks in the process of hydrogen absorption while protecting the current level of development of science and research for this area is analysed. Solid Waste Management as an instrument of sustainability in protestant denominations
Nowadays, there is a worldwide concern about issues related to the environment and one of the biggest environmental problems caused are generated by inadequate solid waste management and the lack of society\u27s involvement. The present work deals with the management in Protestant Christian religious institutions, which are also producers of solid waste and, therefore, deserve to be studied scientifically, in order to answer the following guiding question: Solid waste management in Protestant Christian institutions in the city of Manaus asserts itself as an effective instrument for the concept of sustainability? The main purpose objective of this work is to evaluate how Protestant Christian religious institutions act in the management of solid waste, identifying if such these institutions do any kind of management of this generated waste, in order to monitor how it is done using quality management tools, methodology and analysis of the results achieved. The applied methodology will be descriptive, through observation, registration, analysis and correlation of the object or facts under study, however, without manipulating them. With the information collected from selected churches in all areas of the city, in equal quantity and, through a practical formulary and checklist based on Brazil’s the National Policy on Solid Waste (PNRS), it will be possible to build a DMAIC framework and sequentially apply the GUT tool, to notes on of the most urgent problems. The results of these notes will be put into the PDCA cycle for improvement planning and, finally, the 5W2H will be used to propose improvements, which will facilitate observation, data collection and analysis of the information obtained. The survey results showed a great possibility of these Christian communities to serve as environmental schools, and that if it would be carried out, could bring a real mass awareness of society, thanks to its enormous scope
Defining the territory size of a Geographical Indication: A systematic mapping study
The objective of this study is to map articles that present models for determining the territory size of Geographical Indications (GIs), a relevant factor for the management of GIs that is poorly explored in studies on the subject. The study was undertaken as a systematic mapping study (SMS), whose main objective is to identify accessible facts about a given research topic, which is also the most suitable approach when aiming to analyze the state of the art of a subject with little evidence available in the literature. Using the Scopus and Web of Science databases, in which 671 results were found, and the StArt tool to select the articles, 652 articles were excluded (30 duplicates and 622 that did not meet the inclusion criteria established in the systematic mapping protocol). Then, after a complete reading of the texts of the 19 remaining articles, 14 were excluded. Thus, this study included only five articles in which GI size models were developed, the oldest of which was published in 2007 and the most recent in 2021. We therefore conclude that few studies are available in the literature on this theme
Reflections on the limits and possibilities of democratic management in High Schools in a City in Ceará
This paper discusses Education Management in the context of Public Policies. The objective is to understand the limits and possibilities of a Democratic Management in High Schools in a municipality of the State of Ceará. The qualitative research used the methodological strategy of multiple case study, collecting data through document analysis and interviews with members of the core management of two high schools. The results indicated that democratic management is made possible by means of similar mechanisms between the schools, but obtains different results due to educational conditions, related to workload, curricular components, and physical facilities. It was possible to discuss the potential of democratic management and the actions that favor collectivity, while there are limits, such as bureaucratic obstacles, considered challenging for collective decision-making
Teaching Electromagnetism through a Transmission and Reception System of Electromagnetic Waves
The learning of phenomena related to electromagnetic waves develops in an evident way when students are stimulated significantly and, one of the possible ways are contextualized experimental practices. In this way, a system was developed that allows the sending and reception of electromagnetic waves, which can be provided by a signal generator or by a transmitting radio. For the implementation of the system, two Yagi-Uda antennas were built, intended for the transmission and reception of signals; for the emission of signals a low-power transmitter radio and for the measurement of the intensity of the received signals, a signal intensity meter was constructed from a multimeter in which a circuit was added that converts the signals received into direct current proportional to their intensity. The system was used in the physics discipline of high school, where it was observed that using this system, the students presented a better understanding of the phenomena related to electromagnetic waves
THE Decolonial project contributions to the theories of curriculum: eking for new epistemologies
This article has the goal of establishing an interface between decolonity and curriculum with the intent of thinking and creating other epistemic places on educational theories and practices. It discusses the contributions of decoloniality for the elaboration of a new curriculum to raise awareness on identities and experiences of social groups historically subordinate by the colonization of power, of being, and knowledge. Also, it highlights the protagonism of black intellectuals from Brazil, especially the theory of black feminism, in the proposition of the decolonial turning point in a context that lacks debates about it as a theory academically legitimized. Furthermore, it points out the potentialities of a decolonized curriculum to think about other possibilities of knowledge and for a pedagogy that is not subservient and surrendered by Euro-centered and colonizing ways of thinkin
Integrated Governance and Management Index (iGG) of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU): Quality of Governance and Public Management – Technological Innovation Index
To describe the Integrated Governance and Management Index (iGG) used by the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) by discussing the relevance of its applicability for improving the quality of public management in Brazil. The reports issued by the governance evaluations conducted by the TCU from 2007 to 2019 were examined. The analyses showed that the process of constitution of the current iGG proceeded to the creation of different evaluation indices that were later gathered to constitute and configure the current iGG. The results showed that iGG has significantly contributed to improving the quality of public management in Brazil in view of the growth of the index values pointed out in its reports. Finally, the study suggests the iGG process can be considered a technological innovation, based on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) concept.
Risk Prediction of Delay in the Execution of Public Works Through Fuzzy Logic: Case Study in the City of Manaus
In Manaus, delays in public constructions are not uncommon as their execution deadlines are often extrapolated, even though such deadlines are obtained through preliminary technical studies. The causes that give rise to such delays are varied ranging from the occurrence of rain to the addition of quantities of existing services or additions of new services. In this research, we sought to obtain a model, using fuzzy logic, to predict the risk of delay that some variables may cause in the period of execution of the work, allowing the public administration or the contracted company to adopt measures they consider essential to mitigate this delay. Initially, documentary and bibliographic research were carried out to identify the causes that most contribute to the occurrence of delays in the works. Once these causes were identified, the construction of the fuzzy inference system was started, with six of the most significant causes identified in the research being considered as linguistic variables, namely: the hiring factor, which corresponds to the quotient between the value of the proposal. of the company and the amount budgeted by the administration; the value of the work, which is the value of the contract for the work; the engineering execution drawing, which are the engineering drawings used in the works; the alteration of quantities, which are changes in the quantities of existing services or addition of new services; authorization from public agencies, which corresponds to the permission or support of any public agency or public company for the execution of the work; and the rain. For the simulation of the created fuzzy inference system, real data from four public works were entered, and the answers of this simulation were satisfactory because they are confirmed by the documentation of the respective works. It is concluded that the system proved to be useful, as it was possible to predict the risk of delay in the execution of public works in the city of Manaus, and it can be used by both the public administration and the contractor to mitigate the causes of delays in the execution of public works
Potential Applications of Vitrified Slag as a Product of Plasma Arc Melting
The present article presents the potential of vitrified slag, one of the products of plasma arc melting, for further industrial applications based on previous experiments. The existing publications on the investigation into this field is hence supplemented with our series of experiments conducted using vitrified slag from plasma arc gasification and melting of fly ash from municipal waste, as well as a mixture consisting of fly ash produced by fluidised-bed boilers in a heat power plant and recovered asbestos cement roofing sheets. It should be noted that the process of plasma arc gasification and melting facilitates not only a significant reduction of the quantity of processed hazardous wastes, but also a possibility of transforming such wastes into an inert product, which may be used as an input raw material in certain industrial processes
Silicon In the Growth of Rice Seedlings Pretreated with Dietholate and Subjected to Cold Stress
Silicon (Si) is an enzyme stimulator that can promote signaling for the production of antioxidant compounds, important in cellular detoxification of excess ROS accumulated during stress. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of Si on post-germination rice seeds in the mitigation of cold stress combined with stress induced by seed treatment with the dietholate protector. The experimental design was fully randomized with three replicates and a 3x2x2x4x2 factorial arrangement: three temperatures (5, 10 and 20 °C), two cultivars (IRGA 424 RI and Guri INTA CL), two seed pretreatments (with and without dietholate), four rates of Si (0; 4.0; 8.0 and 16 mg.L-1) and two sources of Si (sodium and potassium metasilicate). Seed pretreatment with dietholate reduced shoot and radicle length, especially at the lower temperatures of 5 and 10 °C. Sodium metasilicate as the source of Si was more efficient in boosting shoot and radicle length, both with and without pretreatment, regardless of temperature. Si was found to attenuate low-temperature stress and the impairment of shoot and radicle growth in rice seedlings grown from seeds pretreated with dietholate
