The Innovation, Networks and Emerging Jobs: A Bibliometric Study Of the Web of Science’s Database, From 1945 To 2020

    No full text
This research presents a bibliometric study of scientific productions involving the themes of innovation, networks and emerging jobs in the English language, available in the Web of Science’s database, dating from 1945 to 2020. Seeking to clarify some findings, in the statistical study of Web of Science’s publications, this research demonstrates the orientation of the reasoning of the investigated authors, regarding innovation policies. Of the 49 publications found in a previous screening, we obtained the number of 44 publications in English, which were submitted to statistical, Reinert and Similitude analyses, using the IRAMUTEQ software. During the research, it was possible to notice that this group of words presented a relation in the context of the texts available in the base; that is: the tool presented, statistically, four groups of words with greater relevance, connecting the three themes. In the analysis, IRAMUTEQ presented a division in four clusters (using Reinert’s method) that list the groups of words by their relation of higher incidence and correlation during the study (development, literature, information and form). According to this mapping, it is possible to conclude that the correlation of themes refers to a group of researchers who, in their discourses, connect technological and economic development to relations in an innovation network, and that 50% of the published texts dealt with issues involving the four largest groups of words: development, network, innovation and business

Incidence of cognitive processing dimension for the diagnostic reliability of level-1 autism spectrum disorder

Diagnostic processes of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) just based over the observation of target- behaviors, regarding to interaction and social communication (social) and restrictive behavior (behavior), seem be most effective for level 2-3 ASD specific diagnosis; however, level 1 ASD diagnosis may be many errors, since the scores sum are within limits corresponding the other specific personality or social communication disorders (American Psychiatric Association (APA), 2013). For this reason, it´s needs complement the analysis of variables that make up the perceptual- cognitive dimension of information processing to specify the diagnosis validity and avoid initial errors that can create important prejudices along educational processes. This study delimits the differential analysis of 3 dimensions on total of 38 participants with level 1 ASD. Indeed, results indicate that, although the constant of diagnostic predictive analysis found through the linear regression analysis shows significant data for diagnosis synthesis, it´s owing to critical influence of cognitive processing dimension: .00, while other 2 dimensions analyzed individually show non-significant influence, being critical significant level for social dimension: .12 and behavior dimension: .35. Therefore, it´s need design diagnostic scales that include the basic principles of perceptual-cognitive processing functioning to avoid errors in autism diagnosis

Inequalities in higher education students’ academic performance

In the last decades, despite the implementation of policies aiming at the equality of opportunities in Higher Education (HE) and the improvement of the academic performance of the less privileged students, new forms of inequalities have been raised. This paper examines the factors that influence students\u27 perceptions regarding the implementation of policies that contribute to the development of their performance. Drawing on the concept of "institutional habitus", this study presents results of a survey questionnaire of 322 students in two university institutions in Greece. The selected universities meet the criteria of different history, location and organizational structure. The findings show differences between institutions, which reveal the important role of institutional practices in students\u27 academic performance. The findings highlight the importance of investigating factors other than social background when studying academic success and learning outcomes

Statement of the Problem: Peer-counselling plays an important role in minimizing instances of gender-based violence among students. However, in Thika Sub-county, cases of gender-based violence among students in private tertiary institutions have been on the rise. Purpose of the Study: To assess the influence of peer counselling strategies on gender-based violence among students in private tertiary institutions in Thika Sub-county, Kiambu County, Kenya. Methodology: The study adopted mixed methodology and thus applied concurrent triangulation research design. Target population comprised 58 deans of students, 113 college counsellors and 2356 peer-counsellors totaling 2527 respondents from which a sample of 345 respondents (13.6%) was obtained using Yamane’s Formula. Stratified sampling was applied to create five strata based on zones in Thika Sub-county. From each zone, five deans of students and five college counsellors from five colleges were sampled using purposive sampling. However, from each zone, simple random sampling was applied to select 59 peer counsellors to avoid bias. This sampling procedure realized a sample size of 25 deans of students, 25 college counsellors and 295 peer counsellors. A questionnaire was used to collect data from peer counsellors whereas an interview guide was used to collect data from deans of students and college counsellors. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically along the objectives and presented in narrative forms. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages and inferential statistics such as linear regression analysis with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS-Version 23) and presented using tables. Findings: The study found that cases of gender-based violence among students in private tertiary colleges have been on the rise for the last five years (2018 to 2022). However, introduction of peer counselling strategies has not, to a great extent, reduced instances of GBV among students. Recommendations: Private colleges should continue training students as peer-counsellors to help model behaviour patterns of their peers. They should continue planning and organizing counselling sessions for students to enable them generate solutions to their behavioural problems without depending on any significant adult

    No full text
The machine control has always been a task, carried out exclusively by people who do not work directly on the production lines, so people directly involved in production do not need to worry about the materials needed for their work, and with this model there was difficulty when product supply. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify benefits and results in the application of the Kanban system in a marine engine maintenance company, in the warehouse sector, added to the selection of literature that conceptualized the mechanism of the system; the identification of the process, from the organization of maintenance parts, as a way to facilitate the maintenance of marine engines. The company studied, founded in 2014, headquartered in the city of Manaus/AM, specializes in marine engine maintenance, with machinery as its main sector. The company has vacancies ranging from 11 to 50 employees annually, according to demands and times of the year. The methodology addressed is of a mixed nature, being part bibliographical in order to select works for the basis and better understanding of the subject, and part case study, since the maritime maintenance company will be the focus of this article. The kanban system determines the quantity of supply so that bottlenecks do not occur with regard to the company\u27s production. Regarding the updating of the table, every day you should check which are the stocks with the highest degree of demand, indicated by the color red, being possible and necessary to pass on to the replacement sector, the missing products. the control system was installed by means of plates that indicated the quantity of parts they had and with that, it could be predicted which parts were priorities in reallocation in the stock, replacing mainly products and fundamental parts for the continuity of the maintenance. After applying this process, it was possible to easily identify the needs and speed up the notes of the company\u27s technical staff with the supply sector (purchases), as well as to avoid the constant lack of “priority” parts in the maintenance process. The performance of the kanban production system applied to the marine engine company was concluded, since the nameplates of the missing parts became much more visible, optimizing the replacement process of pending parts. This production technique presented in the study is of great importance in today\u27s world, as it focuses on the quality of the production process and the quality of finished products offered to the market, making the company that has this system solidify and can remain competitive

Research and Design of VR Based Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Model and Database

In response to the application of drones in real life, drones are more susceptible to interference and influence from various external factors such as weather, site, airspace, etc. during flight operations or related tasks. Not only can they not guarantee the completion of expected goals or tasks, but they are also prone to problems such as falling, collision, or accidental injury caused by the unstable state of drones. The drone flight simulation, virtual training, and drone database system developed based on VR technology has improved the safety, diversity, and instability of drones in practical applications, and reduced the interference of external adverse factors on drone flight. A comprehensive drone model database system has been established. This provides effective guarantees for the application and implementation of drones in various fields

    No full text
The study comparatively examined the extent to which students’ efforts put in their studies influenced students’ performances in Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations as reflected in School Performance Index (SPI). The objectives were: i) to investigate the levels of efforts put in by students from schools in Central and Northern Uganda to excel in UCE examinations; ii) to compare the strength of influence of students ’effort and other students-related factors on SPI in UCE examinations and iii) compare the variations in the SPI in UCE examinations among the schools from Central and Northern Uganda with the levels of efforts put in by the students in their studies.Quantitative and qualitative approaches, were used. 72 school leaders, 80 teachers, 140 students, 12 parents and 15 Key Informants (KI) participated. Data was collected using interviews, questionnaires and analysed using frequency counts, percentages and t-test. UCE examination results from 2001 t0 2011 were got from school files and analysed to obtain School Performance Averages (SPA), School Performance Indices (SPI) and Rate of School Performance Change (RSPC)The results showed Students from Central Uganda put in more effort in their studies, than those students from Northern Uganda and students effort was the second strongest factor influencing the SPI in UCE examinations in the schools from Central and Northern Uganda. Therefore, higher SPI in UCE examinations observed in schools in Central Uganda are not by chance, but a reflection of the efforts of the students. School leaders, especially, of schools in Northern Uganda therefore need to encourage students to aim to put more efforts. There is need to investigate further why the students of schools from Northern Uganda are not putting more efforts
