    Get PDF
The Population and Family Planning Control Office of Bandar Lampung City has implemented a Family Planning Program to reduce birth rates so that population growth in Bandar Lampung is controlled. Since 2009, men and women have had the same rights and position in achieving the success of the Family Planning Program in Bandar Lampung City. But the fact the Family Planning Program in Bandar Lampung City still seems biased to gender, this is evidenced by the achievement of family planning acceptors who are still being majority among women compared to men. KB Male Medical Surgery (MOP) is the male birth control that attains the lowest acceptor and has decreased in five years in the city of Bandar Lampung. Based on the problems obtained in the field, the study wanted to see the influence of communication variables, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure on KB MOP participation in Bandar Lampung City. The independent variable used in this study is the implementation model variable proposed by George Edward III. The method used in this study a descriptive and associative method with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the communication variables obtained the magnitude of influence of 4.4% and the disposition variable obtained the magnitude of influence of 4.3%, these two variables did not have a significant effect on KB MOP participation in Bandar Lampung City. While the resource variable obtained the magnitude of influence of 21.1% and the bureaucratic structure variable obtained the magnitude of influence of 25.6%, these two variables had a significant influence on KB MOP participation in Bandar Lampung City. But simultaneously the communication, resource, disposition and bureaucratic structure variables have a significant influence on KB MOP participation in Bandar Lampung City and the magnitude of the effect obtained is 25.1%

    Get PDF
This article has as goal to discuss the importance of Integrative Capital’s management to obtain positive results from the investments of Human Capital from the sector of Human Resources of institutions of a private administrative nature and check what generates more positive results in Integrative Capital: the investment in human resources for titration or new ways of management of Integrative Capital. From the reach of these goals, the problem will be answered: How to obtain more results in terms of Integrative Capital from the Human Capital? The hypothesis that guides this article are: the management of Integrative Capital generates results so positive or more than the investments in human resources to obtaining the titration; Integrative Capital’s management does not generate such positive results as the investments in human resources for titration. Inferences, deductions and inductions were built from a qualitative analysis of data in congruence to the theorized aspects and presented data. The results presented the need of having a management of Integrative Capital for obtaining satisfactory results from human resources and that only the investment for obtaining titration does not provide the enlargement of Integrative Capital.   &nbsp

Didactic Sequence for Teaching Exponential Function

    Get PDF
This paper presents a methodological proposal for the teaching of exponential function, resulting from the application of a didactic sequence involving exponential function, where evidence of learning and the consolidation and application of mathematical concepts in problem solving were identified and analyzed. The Didactic Engineering of Michèle Artigue (1988) was used as a research methodology. As theoretical contributions that guided and enabled the development of the research, we chose the use of Mathematical Investigation in the classroom; Didactic Sequence in the conception of Zabala (1999); the Articulated Units of Conceptual Reconstruction proposed by Cabral (2017) and assumptions of Vygotsky\u27s theory. A didactic sequence composed of five UARC\u27s was elaborated to work the exponential function, with a view to minimizing the difficulties naturally imposed by the content to be explained. Microgenetic analysis of verbal interactions between teacher and students was used to analyze the results of the application. The results show that the students participating in the experiment showed evidence of learning, recorded during the process, and began to have a good understanding of the concepts and properties related to the topic, in addition to a good performance in carrying out the activities, facts that corroborate the potential of the didactic sequence proposed herein

Public Governance and Intellectual Property Management in Research Funding Agencies

This article aims to analyze the position of the Research Support Foundations (FAPs) regarding the obligation of co-ownership in patent deposits, arising from financial support promoted by them. To this end, a search was proposed in the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property – INPI for FAPs and federal development agencies. For the search of international development agencies, the Orbit Intelligence database was used. The results of this study show that the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) remains the holder with 522 deposits, followed by the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP) with 275 deposits and the other FAPs with rare cases. Although the three federal agencies do not require joint ownership, 522 deposits with joint ownership by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and 27 deposits with joint ownership by the Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP) were found, however, no deposit was found on behalf of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). And among the 4 main countries analyzed, France is the only one in which there is a concentration of ownership in a central development agency, this can be explained by the fact that France\u27s Intellectual Property Policy makes this type of requirement. In the other countries surveyed, there is no such requirement for participation in co-ownership of patent deposits. In interviews with managers of the FAPs, it was evident that a percentage of them claim that the arguments for participation or not show advantages, and from the point of view of those who do not defend participation, pointing out disadvantages

Properly applied strategic leadership is precursory for effective strategy formulation, implementation and control especially in the current highly volatile business environment. Due to limited empirical findings locally on how strategic leadership affects performance of organizations, this study increased this knowledge by answering the question: what is the effect of strategic leadership on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya. The main objective of the study was to assess the influence of strategic leadership on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya. Specifically, the study aimed to; assess the influence of strategic direction setting on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya, determine the influence of core competence exploitation on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya, establish the influence of organization culture building on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya and  assess the influence of organization controls  on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya. The study was guided by upper echelon theory, environment dependency theory, contingency theory and trait theory. Target population was 917 employees from Chemelil, South Nyanza, Muhoroni, and Nzoia. Survey design was adopted for the study. Simple random sampling technique was used to arrive at the population sample; total sample size of 269 respondents was used.  Data collection instruments were both primary and secondary. Primary data was collected by way of semi structured questionnaire. Secondary data collection involved documentary analysis to capture information on organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya. Pilot study was carried out on a group of employees from Nzoia Sugar Company to ensure the research instruments capture the required information before carrying out the research. Descriptive and inferential statistics which included mean, frequency and regression was used in this study. The test criteria was to reject the first null hypothesis if the value of beta was not equal to zero (β1 ≠0). From the results, the beta value for strategic direction setting 0.346 at p< 0.05. This result implied 34.6% of change in Organization performance is attributed to Strategic direction setting. Therefore the first hypothesis was rejected. The test criteria was to reject the second null hypothesis if the value of beta was not equal to zero (β2 ≠0). From the results, the beta value for core competencies exploitation from the regression model was 0.503 at p< 0.05. This result implied that 50.3% of change in Organization performance is explained by Core Competencies exploitation. Therefore the second null hypothesis was rejected. The test criteria was to reject the third null hypothesis if the value of beta was not equal to zero (β3 ≠0). From the results, the beta value for organization culture building from the regression model was 0.399 at p< 0.05. This results implied that 39.9% of change in Organization performance is attributed to Organization Culture building. Therefore the third null hypothesis was rejected. The test criteria was to reject the fourth null hypothesis if the value of beta was not equal zero (β4 ≠0). From the results, the beta value for organization controls from the regression model was 0.315 at p< 0.05. This result implied that 31.5% of change in Organization performance was explained by Organization controls, hence the fourth null hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, the study established a statistically significant correlation between strategic leadership and organization performance of state-owned sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya. The findings of the current study form a basis for reference in future by interested parties. Further research should be carried out on the Influence of strategic leadership on organization performance of privately owned sugar manufacturing firms in order to make generalizations as relates to effect of strategic leadership on organization performance of sugar manufacturing firms in Western Kenya

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect on preschool aged children of an intervention reinforcing comprehension of the structural framework of stories, so that they can produce their own stories. The sample consisted of 78 children, ages 4-6. The sample was separated into two groups, one experimental and one control group. The children in the experimental group were taught how to create original fictional stories through a multilevel intervention programme. During sessions, well-structured books were used that had very well-structured contents and an instructional strategy was implemented on five levels (creating prior knowledge, discussion, modelling, monitoring the process and producing stories). The children in the control group were read the same books and a discussion followed on the interesting parts of the stories. The results showed that the intervention programme significantly improved the children’s ability to understand the structural elements of a story and to generate comprehensible and organised fictional stories

Impact of a Student-teach-student Model for IPE Between Pharmacists and Dermatologists on Student Knowledge and Attitude

Introduction: The effective delivery of patient care is a complex venture, often requiring efficient collaboration among varied healthcare professions. Not surprisingly, research continues to indicate collaboration between these diverse professionals can be challenging. Early exposure of health professions students to interprofessional education (IPE) offers a promising way to improve this collaboration and, in turn, improve patient care and service delivery. Objectives: This study examines the impact of an innovative IPE cocurricular event on knowledge, understanding, and attitudes, regarding future healthcare delivery between medical and pharmacy students. Method: Students developed and conducted an IPE cocurricular event involving medical students of a dermatology-interest club, and pharmacy students of a compounding-interest club. Medical students introduced a patient case, delivered in a standardized-patient format. This was followed by a pharmacy student presentation representing compounding the prescriptions needed for the patient case and writing accurate prescriptions. Following both presentations, students from each program were paired.  Each interprofessional pair then communicated and compounded two medications for the case, working collaboratively.  Pre- and post-questionnaires were designed with rating scales and open-ended questions for data collection.  Results: Both parametric and nonparametric tests revealed significant differences between the pretests and posttests. There was no significant difference in responding between the groups. Inspection of the open-ended questions revealed changes in attitudes regarding collaboration and learning. Conclusions: This study found students of both professions reported significant improvements in their level of knowledge, understanding, and interest in interprofessional collaboration. The open-ended questions revealed both groups of students began the event with different expectations regarding cooperation and interprofessional activities but left the session with very similar perspectives. By including similar IPE activities in early healthcare education, medical students will gain an understanding of the knowledge, skills, and services that a compounding pharmacist can offer in personalized patient care, and pharmacy students will acquire clinical reasoning based on patient presentations. Both factors promote collaboration between professions and ultimately show promise in improving outcomes in patient care

The mediation of information and communication technologies in advocacy

    Get PDF
This article aims to study mediation and its various approaches and forms of action, to identify its applicability in the professional legal arena. It has been with the assumption the existence of an apparent conflict that permeates this profession whose human actions already are established, but that have been impacted by the actions not human (technology) based on the economics of information and knowledge. It is questionable C atom to Information mediation can act in the transformations suffered by law in face of the changes that the Information and Communication Technologies-ICT have caused in society. We opted for research of an applied nature, contemplating intervention in social reality, with a qualitative approach, with an exploratory objective, whose method is the inductive one, as the general conclusion is based on a set of particular observations from the literature. As a result, important theoretical elements were identified for the debate on mediation and its ability to lead in the transformation processes of advocacy

Design of internal heat transport intensifier for metal hydride storage tank

    Get PDF
The present article deals with potential improvement of heat removal from the centre of a metal hydride tank towards the tank’s periphery while using passive heat transfer modules. Passive cooling elements are used in order to improve heat removal from the centre of a tank towards its peripheral parts. This increases the homogeneity of the thermal field in a tank’s cross-section, which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Moreover, the use of such elements improves the kinetics of hydrogen absorption into an alloy, in particular by prolonging the time to an equilibrium temperature of the alloy for a particular equilibrium pressure, which may shorten the time to a tank being 100% filled with hydrogen. The article describes four different designs of internal heat transfer intensifiers, which are aimed at improving the thermal field distribution inside the tank and their theoretical impact on the thermal field, which was examined using Ansys CFX software
