    Victims profile in function of motorcycle engine potency and assisted by the Fire Department of Uberlândia, Brazil

    Introduction: Traffic accidents are a global issue, especially in emerging countries, resulting in a high number of deaths and significant social and economic expenditures with victims. Motorcycle accidents stand out mainly by its greater vulnerability, and studies relating bike engine potency and accidents are still rare. Objective: To trace the profile of victims involved in motorcycle accidents as a function of motorcycle power that were assisted by the Fire Department in Uberlândia, Brazil.  Methodology: A transversal, retrospective, analytic and quantitative study, based on a public database. Twelve thousand nine hundred occurrence reports were retrospectively analyzed between 2015 and 2018 in the Integrated System of Social Defense from the Military Fire Department of Minas Gerais state database. Variables that allowed accident characterization were collected (such as motorcycle conductor or passenger and from the accident itself) and were compared in function of the motorcycle power or engine potency (less than 250 CC as low and more than 250 CC as high).  Results: There was a lack of information in reports about the accident and even greater lack about the injured person, ranging from 0% to 52%. The predominance of accidents was with motorcycles below 250 CC. The values of severity and clinical data scores were not different between engine potency categories, except for the heart frequency of the injured, with a median of 82 and 80 beats for high and low engine potency, respectively. A greater frequency of accidents involving men, single, with higher education conducting motorcycles over 250 CC, involved in falls, with occurrence between 18:01 and 24:00 hours was noted. However, accidents occurred mostly with small-sized vehicles and motorcycles and did not differ between days of the week. Accidents showed a spatial pattern where most accidents occurred downtown and, consequently, in more commercial regions, with no major differences in engine potency.  Conclusion: Even though accident severity did not differ between engine potency categories, the profile of participants showed some differences. This information, along with more complete and broader data in the reports, can offer subsides for more assertive public policy implementation to mitigate traffic accidents

    Clinical and Therapeutic Treatment Approach Between Diabetes Mellitus and Urinary Tract Infection

    Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic syndrome of multiple origins, caused by the insulin absence in the bloodstream and/or by the inability of insulin to adequately exert its effects, causing hyperglycemia and subsequent complications in the body\u27s organic systems. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most frequent due to the glucose increase in blood circulation and the impairment of cellular immunity, creating a favorable environment for the bacteria proliferation at the inflammation spots. This review describes the clinical and therapeutic aspects of diabetes mellitus and urinary tract infection, with guidelines on glucose management in these events. A non-systematic review was carried out in the Virtual Health Library, PubMed, Scielo, and Google Academic databases with the descriptors Diabetes mellitus, Urinary Tract Infection, Hyperglycemia, Bacteriuria, and Urinary Incontinence. The most relevant articles were selected. Pertinent clinical and therapeutic issues were discussed, covering the diabetes factors that contribute to the onset of UTI; urinary tract infection complications in patients with diabetes mellitus; asymptomatic bacteriuria, recurrent urinary tract infections, and urinary incontinence in people with diabetes; treatments for diabetes and urinary tract infection; and the relationship between glucose-lowering medications and UTI. Given the greater susceptibility of people with diabetes to acquire UTI, the combined insight into these diseases is crucial, both for better UTI prevention in diabetics and for the treatment of both

    Teacher training: An integrative review about art education in Brazilian early childhood education

    This article discusses Art teacher training in the context of early childhood education in the Brazilian scenario through a systematic review of articles published on the databases Google Scholar, Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SciELO) and Capes Portal of Periodicals between 2014 and 2019. It aims to understand how Brazilian bibliographical production has been studying this theme and proposes a critical theoretical reflection about that issue. Analyses showed research developed in educational contexts focused on professional training for the construction of knowledge and the promotion of critical and reflexive pedagogical practices. We conclude that the training process builds a democratic education enabling new practices and the real aesthetic sense that art can offer

    This article has as goal to discuss the importance of Intellectual Capital’s management to obtain positive results from the investments of Human Capital from the sector of Human Resources of institutions of a private administrative nature and check what generates more positive results in Intellectual Capital: the investment in human resources for titration or new ways of management of Intellectual Capital. From the reach of these goals, the problem will be answered: How to obtain more results in terms of Intellectual Capital from the Human Capital? The hypothesis that guides this article are: the management of Intellectual Capital generates results so positive or more than the investments in human resources to obtaining the titration; Intellectual Capital’s management does not generate such positive results as the investments in human resources for titration. Inferences, deductions and inductions were built from a qualitative analysis of data in congruence to the theorized aspects and presented data. The results presented the need of having a management of Intellectual Capital for obtaining satisfactory results from human resources and that only the investment for obtaining titration does not provide the enlargement of Intellectual Capital

    Regulatory Sandbox as an Alternative to Insert the Disruptive Innovations Developed by Startups in Brazil

    Aim: This study presents an analysis to be used in regulatory environment as an option for start-ups to insert their products and/ or services in the market in Brazil. Methods:   This is an applied, exploratory, document a qualitative-quantitative. It was carried-out a systematic review at CAPES journals, Brazilian Digital Library of theses and dissertations (BDTD) and Electronic Scientific Online Library (CIELO) with a time period of 5 years, so as with the exploration of experience programmes of Regulatory Sandbox, particularly in the United Kingdom, besides the brief analysis regarding the legal landmark of Start-ups and Innovative Entrepreneurship MLSEI- Supplementary law Nº 182/2021. The analysis was performed in a way to evaluate the existence of good practices in regulatory environments and its adequation and inclusion in the market of disrupt innovations, looking for legal certainty for the companies, the State and consumer. Results: Findings show that there are meaningful advantages in the insertion of new technologies in regulatory environment in a pre-established time, with users’ limitation and supervision assisted in a way to bring to the market those technologies with greater law certainty.

    Analysis of the optimization of the construction process of ecological brick compared to ceramic brick: A literature review

    The brick is composed of water, soil and cement, having an easy manufacturing process, with short construction and low cost is not subjected to burning is manufactured by a very different process from ceramic blocks, the same goes through a hydraulic press. This type of brick has characteristics that provide quality, sustainability, beauty, and above all savings in the total cost of the work. When used in construction are eliminated some steps and the execution time in the work. A block wall or ceramic brick will need roughcast, sketch, plaster, seamer and painting, besides considering the cost of these materials can not forget the labor that corresponds to an average 50% of the value of the work. But the great advantage over the other bricks is its construction system, once raised the wall this is ready, does not need finishing, and the pillar structure and beams are ready with it. Electrical and Hydraulic Installations are easily installed without the need for breakage and waste. These bricks do not require the use of mortars for laying, coatings such as plastering for regularization and finishing of walls, in addition to accelerating the work with their fittings that facilitate the alignment and plumb of the walls.     A Course Redesign Project: Adaptive Courseware in Biology

    In the summer of 2019, a cooperative team of Biology faculty and a principal investigator worked to develop a solid set of aligned student learning outcomes across the sections of first semester (BIOL 1305) and second semester (BIOL 1306) of introductory Biology.  Additionally, the group worked on course objectives alignment within the scope and sequence of the courses, as well as aligned syllabi. A full course redesign was initiated over the summer, where the goal was to align student learning outcomes (SLOs), assessments, and develop a shared set of syllabi for six sections across two courses of introductory biology.  At UTEP, the overall goal was to integrate adaptive courseware technology tools, open education resources (OER) and active learning strategies within a course redesign in our Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard, for a number of sections in Biology 1305 and Biology 1306 beginning in the spring of 2020. This is challenging, as much of adaptive courseware technology is not as strong in content as the Biology faculty would like for these classes, although it can help to substantially reduce the costs for students.  The information that follows defines the case study for integrating adaptive courseware within the course redesign process for a series of high enrollment introductory Biology course

    Uncertanties and Risk Analysis on Ports Construction Projects Considering Technological and Market Strategic Factors: A Study in Emerging Countries and Regions

    This article appropriates a new methodology for evaluating port projects involving not only economic analysis, but also strategic factors, technological and market, wich provide greater security and assertiveness on the search for the development of a Hub Port model as an option to optimize the logistics of port operations. To achieve the objectives of the proposal, a technical and economic analysis model was developed to demonstrate the feasibility of the project with the inclusion of technological features (deep of ships, modes of transport linking the port to its region of land influence, expansion area) and market components (cargo demands, free trade zone, distance from the main centers of world trade) that decisively interfere in the attractiveness of the project. Linked to this proposal, a risk analysis was carried out, including uncertainties involving economic and strategic aspects, with market and technological variables. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Monte Carlo method operated by the software “@RiskTM” was used, where the analyzes of positive and negative interferences in the project were carried out. To evaluate the proposed methodology, it was applied in two cases studies of the feasibility of a new logistics platform in Brazil and Africa, with the implementation of an offshore cargo concentrator port. One was in the State of Pará, in northern Brazil, and the other in Dakar, Senegal, which can integrate the entire South America and Africa, respectivaly. The results of those analysis show very favorable indicators for the implementation of the proposed projects. Considering that, strategic factors introduced in the study, the greatest influences were: transport modes that link the port to the land influence zone and the draft of the ships. For the offshore port of Pará, strategic factors boosted the viability result by approximately 55% for a 95% probability of success and for Dakar, in Africa, the results were 100%, both for a 14% rate and a life span of 30 years showing that strategic factors are elements very importatants, as they produced almost 100% and 70% elasticity in the results, respectivaly, so they should be considered in feasibility studies of hub ports in addition to tradicioanl economic analysis

    Investigation of air injection to enhanced oil recovery from medium oil reservoir of Upper Indus basin of Pakistan

    Previously, air injection is exclusively used in light oil reservoirs; however, laboratory research has shown that air injection can also be very efficient for medium and heavy oil recovery. Due to the low cost of air injection and its indefinite availability, it has an economic advantage over other Enhanced Oil Recovery methods. This study is carried out in an experiment conducted on air injection into medium oil reservoirs. To better understand the air injection procedure for enhancing oil recovery from the X field\u27s medium oil (26.12 °API) of Pakistan reservoir, 14 runs were performed. The effects of air flux, porous media, temperature, and pressure on oxidation reaction rates were explored and measured. The consumption of oxygen at a rate of 90% was determined. At a moderate pressure of 7300 kPa, a significant oil recovery of around 81% of the original oil in place was observed. Increased air flux and low permeability can have a more significant effect on medium oil recovery. The technique produced flue gases that were exceptionally low in carbon oxides, with a typical gas composition of 12% CO2, 6% CO, and unreacted oxygen. This research will contribute to a better knowledge of the air injection method and allow for the optimum performance for a specified reservoir. In the Enhanced oil recovery, a less costly process using this method will be inspiring due to recovering oil in this region
