The purpose of this study is to show how Gadisa Biru who wrote the novel `Kuusaa Gadoo` represents the Oromo`s economic issues realistically in the life of characters and the major themes of the novel. The study is qualitative research, it involves textual analysis method together with relevant conceptual tools and frameworks and therefore it is analytical. Furthermore, the data used for the research is taken from a primary source which is `Kuusaa Gadoo`. From the novel, different extracts are taken based on the research questions. Extracts used as data were classified under each topic and analyzed using textual analysis methods and realism theory. Then, the analysis and discussion were undertaken by using the concept of scholars to make the research more visible and logical. As a philosophy of realism theory, realism portrays the world as it appears. Therefore, to evaluate the realistic representations of different agendas of the research, it is crucial to bring the idea in the text to the actual world. From the analysis and discussion made it is found that, in `Kuusaa Gadoo`, all events and episodes were realized in the novel without any fantasy and extraordinary overstatement. Oromos were not economically beneficial during the Derg; the economies of Oromo peoples were used by others i.e. by leaders and investors from other ethnic groups. The Oromo`s resources especially land is highly corrupted by leaders of the time. Oromo peasants had no legal protection for their economy. Hence, the novel `Kuusaa Gadoo` reflects the real-life situation of Oromo peoples during the Derg regime. The author critically observes the real economic picture of society and portrayed it logically

In essence, man stands out for the use of your intellect to overcome his challenges and remain in constant evolution. Throughout its history, mankind has developed laws, rules and criteria to protect inventions and innovations. Along the way, a copyright law was created that supports and protects works and products from human intellect. Through it, it is possible to stimulate and leverage diverse sectors and professionals. Based on this, this study aims to characterize the prescriptions of physical activities, therapy, prophylaxis and their relationship with copyright. Its methodology is Grounded Theory, or theory based on data analysis and analysis of the legislation of the professional exercise of Physical Education (CONFEF). As preliminary results, it was identified that there are elements that allow the authorial protection of the training sections, in the prescription of prophylactic and therapeutic activities because they present characteristics of intellectual property and the Physical Education professional, in their functions and attributions, demand innovations and inventions customization of training sections

This study evaluated the self-perception of adolescents\u27 oral health and their oral conditions and the need for treatment in relation to dental caries. An epidemiological survey was carried out in the municipality of Belém, Pará, Brazil, in 2018. The sample consisted of 200 students, aged 11 to 16 years old, from a full-time public school. The data were collected through a questionnaire where their self-perception of their oral health was assessed and an intra-oral examination was carried out to assess oral health conditions in relation to dental caries, using the Dental Caries Index and need for treatment (ICDNT). The data analysis was based on the Chi-square test, and when the npq <5 restriction occurred, Fisher\u27s exact test was applied. The comparison between quantitative variables was performed using the Student\u27s t test. The average DMFT index was 3.57, with only 17% of the studied population free of caries. The carious component was the one with the greatest significance (3.14) and the need for treatment with the highest prevalence was the restoration of one face (47.5%). A percentage of 88.5% of the adolescents evaluated answered that they did not take a toothbrush to school. The studied sample had a moderate prevalence of caries compared to the parameters recommended by the WHO, but above the standard obtained in the national survey carried out in 2010. Therefore, it is necessary to implement measures aimed at improving the quality of oral health of these adolescents and a full-time system would be a ideal for implementing good habits and routines for the adolescent’s oral health

THE Police power of the Brazilian army: Prevention and repression operations in border areas in the State of Rondônia

This work deals with the legal frameworks that manage the exercise of the police power granted to the Armed Forces, addressing the attributions and situations in which they can be employed. The legal provisions are found in the legal system in force, among the precursors the complementary laws of n. 97/1999, n. 117/2004 and n. 136/2010, which brought significant changes in the general rules for the organization, preparation and employment of the Armed Forces. The basis of this work is the study of the use of the Brazilian Army in law and order guarantee operations, as well as ensuring Brazilian territorial sovereignty. The activities called patrolling and policing operations in the border area of the Brazilian territory are exposed throughout the work. Such activities are subsidiary duties conferred by the Armed Forces. At first, a brief exposition will be made of the legal and doctrinal foundations that deal with the power of police, distinguishing it in what is the "administrative police power" and "the power of security police", although coming from state power, both have different purposes

The Day Our School Went Pitch Black and the Nights We Reclaimed the Light

I will never forget that a year ago, last March 2020, we had to close our school suddenly. It feels like someone just turned off the light without warning, and everything went pitch black. Confused and scared, we tried to make sense of and confront the endless challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought upon our school organization. The virus caused significant interruptions to our processes, policies, people, technostructure, and financial resources. However, with each tiresome blow, the school leaders and teachers navigated through and around those challenges. The only comforting thought was we were not alone in our quest to survive, for every organization around the world was thrown into this catastrophic state and was fighting hard to persist and endure. Looking back, I reflect on the extraordinary challenges our organization experienced akin with most organizations using Kurt Lewin\u27s Three-Step Change Model and the three ways we responded to COVID-19

Theoretical and methodological contributions of the knowledge economy: The applicable "steps" in Brazilian recycling

    Get PDF
With the emergence of new paradigms in social and labor relations, before the property or assets of a company are valued. However, today, in addition, it is also considered that knowledge (in innovations, technology, experience, trade secrets, among others) adds value to an institution. Therefore, this research seeks to detail the phenomenon of the knowledge economy, in job prospects, education, environment and innovation, in addition to relating this concept to the collection of recyclable materials. The problem question developed to initiate the reflections was: How is the knowledge economy related and positively influences work activities such as the collection of recyclable materials? The general objective, on the other hand, is to understand how knowledge, experience and innovations are configured as fundamental for the improvement of processes and work in industries and organizations, here, specifically, the recycling industry. The specific objectives are focused on: detailing the emergence of the concept of the “Knowledge Economy”; understand how the knowledge economy relates to aspects of education, labor and the environment; understand the concept of social innovation and how it applies to third sector organizations; and learn about the “Steps of knowledge” applied to the activity of recycling materials. The methodology was an analysis of the recurring literature related to the topic of the knowledge economy and the recycling industry. It is concluded, therefore, that the workers of this branch make up the large group of Brazilians in conditions of informality and social exclusion and rights, and that is why the discussion addressed here is so important. for believing that the condition of these recyclers continues to be highly undervalued, despite being so important, both for society and for the environment

The study was an investigation of the impact of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of business intelligence (BI) tools among users. The relationship between and among the dependent variable (utilization of BI tools) and the independent variables (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) was investigated through the lenses of technology acceptance model (TAM). Other objectives for the current research were to build a model to predict users’ utilization of the independent variables, and to generalize the results of the research to the IT population. Data for the current research was collected utilizing a survey questionnaire, designed by the researcher, with a 5-point Likert scale to interpret responses to the survey questions. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and multiple regressions models. A prediction model was structured using generalized linear models. The result of the study was the development of a prediction model for BI tools utilization through the lenses of a technology acceptance model (TAM). The model highlighted the importance of up-to-date information provided by current BI tools, ability of BI tools to provide users with more analytical tools to accomplish their jobs, the degree to which BI tools allow users to present convincing arguments, the ability of BI tools to provide users with more possible solutions, the ability of BI tools to reduce the time required to accomplish jobs, and the ability of BI tools to help users make relevant business predictions

    Get PDF
This paper presents and discusses the use of knowledge management to support innovation in higher education institutions (HEI). The study was conducted at Brasil-STHEM Consortium - a network of Brazilian higher education institutions that work together in the implementation of innovation in their teaching and learning practises. 29 HEI participated in the study that was designed as an exploratory research and used the Asian Productivity Association (APO) knowledge management maturity level assessment tool as a framework for data collection and analysis.  Results demonstrate that there was openness for knowledge management and that there is technological infrastructure available for this to happen, but found  little evidence of the systematic use of knowledge management  practices. The study contributes to research and practise in education management  by proposing the use of KM theory and tools to understand how knowledge being generated by higher education institutions can be identified, stored, shared, created and applied in order to amplify its impact to educational change and innovation.  &nbsp
