This work aims to create and validate a Bilingual Video Material (BVM), supported by the concepts of Environmental Education (EE), Green Chemistry (GC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in an inclusive class of the high school level in Brazil, thus enabling the inclusion of the deaf in a more accessible way, based on the cultural artifacts of the Deaf Community. Therefore, through a qualitative and participatory research, it was possible to verify the efficiency in the adoption of the bilingual teaching methodology. This didactic strategy proved to be a great ally of accessibility (in Portuguese and in Brazilian Sign Language - LIBRAS) for the inclusion of deaf people, especially when based on the contextualization with EE, GC and SDGs in an interdisciplinary approach

Enhancing employability through hospital placements for Biomedical Science students: A Case Study from the University of Essex, UK

Collaboration between Universities and hospitals has provided the National Health Service (NHS) with many excellent Biomedical Scientists through the placement year scheme. Here, we document the number of students joining the placement scheme and the number and type of hospital departments offering student placements over a 10-year period. Prior to 2012, students were able to join fully-funded placements through the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Since then, there has been a fluctuation in numbers completing a placement year at the University of Essex, but the employability of these graduates remains consistently higher than our 3-year graduates. We demonstrate the positive impact of completing a placement year in an NHS hospital laboratory for students, and the contribution to university metrics in good degrees and graduate outcomes as well as the provision of much needed, qualified biomedical science staff to hospitals

The teaching of some contents of the disciplines of the exact sciences and the earth are considered complex and this scenario worsens when the student has some disability, among these visual deficiencies is one that presents a higher degree of complexity, because the student cannot see what is being demonstrated. Based on this panorama, this article has as its central objective to present some three-dimensional pieces of inclusive didactics, which were developed in software that design three-dimensional objects and later printing in 3D printers, a process that resulted in handleable parts and with information of dimensions, shapes and writings in braille, this set of information aggregated in the construction of these pieces aims to collaborate in the process of teaching and learning of content related to exact disciplines

CPA Evolution: Curriculum revision for Higher Education

Recent proposals from the National Association of States Board of Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants aim to modify the CPA license model to reflect the knowledge and abilities that new CPAs will need both now and in the future. The Uniform CPA Examination has recently undergone its most significant modification in many years thanks to the CPA Evolution project. This article discusses the exam\u27s revised structure and content, evaluates the anticipated effects of those changes on accounting education, and explains how colleges will need to modify their curricula to meet the new exam core Plus requirements. Today\u27s accountants and the accounting industry require different technical capabilities than they did even a few years ago. For the accounting profession to advance, proficiency in technology, data analytics, risk management, and IT governance are becoming crucial competencies. The joint CPA Evolution project of the AICPA and NASBA acknowledges the rapidly evolving abilities and competences needed by today\u27s CPAs. The quick development of technical advancements, such as data analytics, robots, and artificial intelligence, among others, is significantly altering the way CPAs do their business. Additionally, this report illustrates the constraints that the COVID-19 placed on the world\u27s environment and economy. The CPA profession is changing, and data from IPEDS and responses from participating U.S. universities and public accounting companies enable us to assess the effects of this change on both the supply and demand of new accounting. The public accounting firms have started to fill the technology and data analytics talent gaps among accounting recruits by hiring non-accounting staff, according to the AICPA\u27s 2021 Accounting Graduate Supply and Demand Report, which includes a survey of the hiring practices of public accounting firms. According to the research, new hires of master\u27s graduates increased by 2% in 2020, despite a 10% decline in the total hiring of new accounting graduates

Time delay induces a back to back Hopf bifurcation on oncolytic virotherapy.

This study analyzes a basic mathematical model for the dynamic interactions among tumor cells, infected tumor cells and viruses population, focusing on the viral lytic cycle for oncolytic virotherapy. I study the time delay effect of viral infection on tumor cell populations by identifying bifurcation thresholds in both the burst rate and time delay of viral infection in oncolytic virus therapy. Time delay plays an important role in changing the structure of tumor cell populations in a dynamical system. The multi-bifurcation thresholds of the time delay are observed and also dependent on the bursting rate. This study demonstrates a strong relationship between viral burst rates and time delays in population dynamics. The results of this study show that time delay affects oscillation generation and results in back-to-back Hopf bifurcation. This study provides insight into understanding the relationship between the two control parameters, in which tumor cell populations pattern from equilibrium steady-state solutions to periodic solutions and from periodic solutions to equilibrium-state solutions

Construction of Ideological and Political Mixed Teaching in Higher Education under the Digital Transformation

This article focuses on the current demands for reform in ideological and political education in higher education, within the context of the digital information and communication era. Specifically, it proposes a plan for integrating ideological and political education into higher education courses using the widely-used blended learning mode in a digitally transformed environment. This plan aims to leverage digital teaching methods, such as the development of multimedia courseware, to enrich classroom teaching content, increase student engagement and learning outcomes, deepen students\u27 understanding and awareness, and enable them to effectively absorb a wealth of information in a limited time. By subtly linking the process of learning professional knowledge with their personal, social, and national development, this plan seeks to foster a professional education philosophy that cultivates "socialist successors.

Digital resources\u27 role in university teaching and learning exploration

The evolution of digital tools in education has created a disparity between the tools teachers use and those available to students, leading to an unequal relationship. This disparity has hindered the shift from traditional teaching to student-centered learning, a crucial aspect of novel approaches in cognitive psychology. The primary objective of this transition is to prioritize the learner in the education system, enabling them to acquire knowledge in a more active, autonomous, and participatory manner. However, achieving this transformation requires in-depth research to examine the nature of the digital tools accessible to teachers and compare them with those available to students. The analysis of research results reveals a prevalence of digital tools focused on teaching, creating an imbalance that favors instructional activities over the learning process. The tools available to teachers often prioritize one-way transmission of knowledge, emphasizing information presentation and dissemination. From a learning perspective, promoting active interactions, experimentation, practical exercises, and problem-solving activities is crucial. Unfortunately, digital tools intended for students often lack active engagement and participation opportunities, limiting their potential for autonomous and interactive learning. This article proposes to identify and evaluate the digital resources teachers and students use to determine the extent to which these tools lean toward teaching or learning. This evaluation aims to better understand the nature of current tools and identify the gaps that need to be addressed to foster a more balanced learning experience. The study focuses on teachers and students in teacher training programs as the target population. This research aims to develop more inclusive and effective educational practices that empower learners and enhance their overall educational experience by addressing the disparity between teacher-focused and student-centered digital tools

Police Officers are exposed to a high level of stress due to heavy workload, long working hours, and exposure to traumatic experiences emanating from daily duties. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of occupational stress on work performance among Kenya police officers in Njoro Sub-County. The study was based on the role stress theory which explains how individual roles and expectations influence the outcome of individual responsibilities and how these functions cause occupational stress and affect work performance among police officers. The study adopts a descriptive survey design. The study targeted a population of 367 police officers. Stratified sampling was used to select a sample size of 104 respondents. The data collected through self-administered structured questionnaires were used as the research instrument to collect the data. Descriptive statistics were used in analyzing the data where the results were presented in form of tables, graphs, charts, frequency, and percentages to give meaning to the study. The results show that out of 104 questionnaires administered 81 were returned indicating a response rate of 77.88 percent. The study established that the majority of the respondents perform poorly due to stress they experience from work and that there is a strong influence on performance attributed to the poor communication network, lack of serviceable equipment, lack of support, lack of motivation, role conflict, heavy workload and long working hours. The study recommends that the National Police Service should focus on the causes of poor performance among the police officers and develop a strategy for addressing the gap to better service delivery. Develop counseling programs in the police syllabus and sensitize officers on the need of sharing problems that affect their work performance. Finally, the government should increase budgetary allocation and mobilize more resources and training to help them acquire skills to improve police public relationships and improve work performance. The study, 1therefore, recommended for a similar study be conducted in the national police service in other Sub-Counties in Kenya to compare the findings
