Challenges of public education in Brazil: Notes on school, the family and the community
This paper proposed to delimit as an object of study the “Challenges faced by Public Education in Brazil”, without the purpose of verifying the quality of education in the national territory. We understand that it is necessary for the school, the family and the community to walk together, so that socio-educational quality can be achieved. Therefore, an analysis of the main productions available on the subject is necessary. Although access to Elementary Education is practically universal, Brazil still faces the great problem of the precarious quality of education offered in its schools. Thus, the general objective of this work is to analyze the strategies that can be used by the school, the family and the community to implement the qualification of public education, specifically in Paraíba. Thus, subsidies to exercise and studies on the subject arise. This work is bibliographic and documental, under a qualitative approach, since it is understood as a social quality strategy and legal regulations through documents and bibliographic materials related to the strategies can be used by the school, family and community, to carry out the qualification of the public education, in Paraíba
Contribution of strategic information distribution to the decision making processes - an empirical
As an organizational asset, data is one of the great sources of competitive advantage of organizations, so that its publication and storageg, aligned with the organizations\u27 strategic and operational metrics, has become a matter of great discussion and concern among decision makers. This study aims to carry out a study about the contributions of the strategic distribution of information to decision-making processes in organizations. The methodology used, of an exploratory qualitative nature, applied the study of multiple cases, through the collection and analysis of data from semi-structured interviews with several employees of organizations that use tools for collecting, processing and disseminating information. The research shows how the information and technologies applied to its treatment collaborate with decision-making processe
Exploration of collaboration with university students in marking and moderation
Student assignment moderation and written feedback are integral to tertiary education, supporting student learning and providing a means of ensuring equity in grading. The processes of moderation and feedback provision have, however, been associated with a number of negative outcomes including confusion, disengagement, and reduced self-confidence. Improvements to moderation processes must be reviewed to facilitate continued student engagement and learning. Embedded within empowerment theory, this pilot study aimed to explore the feasibility of involving students in the moderation process and to determine whether students benefit from participating in the moderation process. A multiple method approach was undertaken to understand the perspectives of students on the moderation process. Six undergraduate occupational therapy students participated in the moderation of a written essay with tutors and participated in a focus group. Three themes relating to their experiences emerged: 1) student empowerment, 2) transparency and increased understanding of the moderation process, and 3) understanding the assessor mindset. Combined results suggest that inclusion of students in the moderation process is feasible within a tertiary education context, with this study acting as a pilot for the inclusion of students in these processes
Leadership Traits: A Gender Issue?
Women are gradually assuming important leadership roles in the social, business and political spheres. For this reason, the difference in leadership style and characteristics of men and women leaders has been the subject of controversial discussions both in society and in academia. Even though it is a current subject, there are few studies in the literature about it. This research aims to identify the characteristics and style of leaders to understand whether gender influences leadership style. For that, an integrative systematic review was developed in the Scopus, Web of Science and Scielo databases, between 2010 and 2020, chosen and analyzed 22 publications. Characteristics and leadership styles of men and women were found and related. It was found that gender may not have a direct influence on the style and characteristics of leaders, as they are influenced by the gender stereotype they assume. A woman can have more masculine style and leadership characteristics if she adopts the male stereotype, and vice versa. The results point to the need for more research on leadership style and gender, especially the development of more comprehensive quantitative studies and also qualitative research that focus on the experience of women and men leaders in organizations
Cooking Workshops as a Strategy to Improve the Acceptability of Vegetables for Elementary School Children
The research aim was to develop cooking workshops using five health foods least accepted by elementary school children and assess their sensory acceptability and physicochemical composition. Three hundred and thirty two elementary school children aged between 7 and 10 years participated in the research. Food acceptability was evaluated in order to verify the nutritious foods less accepted by children, for use in preparations prepared in cooking workshops. Five products were prepared in cooking workshops: eggplant cookie, chard muffin, cress bread, radish pancake and chayote esfiha. All preparations showed high Acceptability Indexes (> 85%). Higher lipid, calorie and fiber contents and lower ash and moisture contents were found in eggplant cookie. Lower contents of carbohydrate and calories were found in radish pancake, while higher contents of protein and ash were observed in chayote esfiha and chard muffin, respectively. The products with the highest carbohydrate contents were eggplant cookie and cress bread, while chard muffin had the lowest fiber content. It is concluded that cooking workshop is an effective educational strategy to improve the acceptability of vegetables with low acceptability for elementary school children
Brazilian Education, National Education Parameters and Quality for Education: New Horizons
Under emergency conditions in the Brazilian educational system, since the turn of the 21st century, the National Curriculum Parameters consist of guidelines elaborated by the Federal Government with the purpose of guiding education, being separated by discipline. It is understood that reflective practice and critical involvement, in the context of extracting recreations in teaching, support debates and the development of teachers\u27 productions and educational projects at the school, encourage reflection not only on pedagogical practice, but also about the planning of classes. Therefore, the objective of this work is to re-discuss, under the spectacles of the dialogic approach, some national parameters of education that govern Brazilian education, considering the expansion and potentializing of studies already carried out on the subject
Influence of temperature and time of exposure to temperature on the yield of the obtaining process of ethanolic and hydroethanolic extracts from Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L. M. Perry leaves
The present study aimed to obtain alcoholic and hydroalcoholic (70% v/v) extract of Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L. M. Perry (red jambo fruit tree) leaves and investigated the influence of temperature and time of exposure to temperature on the extraction yield. It was applied a 2x2 factorial design, considering temperature and time of exposure as independent variables with two levels each: 30 or 60 °C for temperature and 60 or 120 minutes for time. For both ethanolic and hydroethanolic extraction, higher process yields were observed at higher temperature and time (24.26% and 19.00%, respectively), however, no significant difference was noticed when increasing the time of exposure to temperature.
Design of Image Copy-Paste Forensics System Based on Moment Invariants
Copy-paste tampering is a common type of digital image tampering, which refers to copying a part of the image area in the same image, and then pasting it into another area of the image to generate a forged image, so as to carry out malicious operations such as fraud and framing. This kind of malicious forgery leads to the security problem of digital image. The research of digital image copy paste forensics has important theoretical significance and practical value. For digital image copy-paste tampering, this paper is based on moment invariant image copy paste tampering detection algorithm, and use Matlab software to design the corresponding tampering forensics system
Simplification of legal language as a way to expand society\u27s access to justice
This article, of a bibliographic nature, discusses the relationship between Law and language, with the purpose of highlighting the simplification of legal language as a way of expanding society\u27s access to justice, especially lay society, which does not dominate the linguistic resources employed in the legal field. An Exploratory Study on the Reverse Innovation Of Tata Nano Motors
This article unpacks the concept of reverse innovation by exploring Tata motor’s version of the Nano, dubbed world’s cheapest car which was introduced in India. The paper explores the ideation process, product development and marketing strategies which were employed by the firm. The Nano was created with the Indian populace in mind thus it was a local production for local customers first before exporting to developed world, the product development of the Nano became known for its cost cutting features which influenced the promotion price at first but later increased due to the upgrading of the car .The car became famous for its cost cutting features such as three lug wheel nut, accessing the trunk from inside and one windscreen wiper among other features. The price was tagged at $2000, which was equivalent to a motorcycle. Some notable aspects which impelled the successes of Tata Nano include hiring competent and knowledgeable human resource, creating synergies with chain supply for easy distribution. However the firm faced challenges which range from compromised safety standards, causing the car to catch fire, extended waiting period for the vehicle and lastly the marketing strategy which was not sustainable and ultimately led to the sales reduction
