Several biases in evaluation process of professors by undergraduate students

    Get PDF
The evaluation of the teaching process uses questionnaires applied to the students, giving them the power of be anonymous in their responses. However, if at the end of the course some students get low grades, at the moment of their responses to the questionnaires they can have an attitud of revenge against the teacher, manifested by bad evaluation to the teachers. There are other situations that interfere with students responses leading to biases in evaluation process. We reviewed factors that interfere in the teacher evaluation through questionnaires causing biases and, we also tryed to find alternatives to diminish biases in evaluation. We search original articles and reviews in web sites databases about biases in professor evaluation process and comments about avoid these biases. We also conducted a manual search for relevant articles in the reference lists of articles. Several factors can be biases in teachig evaluation proccess as feeling of revenge, more difficult course, younger students and gender male students evaluators. Non-white teachers, female teachers, older teachers, non-charism teachers, non-good look teachers also get lower grades. Teacher evaluations through questionnaires must be viewed with caution due to several biases.  Since questionnaires are difficult to be replaced in the evaluation of teachers, we discuss alternatives in order to avoid injustice to the teachers

Learning Objects are resources that promote more interaction, agility in the recovery of information, and communication between individuals in many different contexts. Considering this, this article aims to carry out an integrative review about the types of learning objects and how they are being used in distance teaching in the field of health. This is an integrative literature review. Databases used for the search were PubMed, SciELO, Scopus, and Science Direct. To locate relevant studies, that could answer to the research question, the descriptors indexed in Portuguese, English, and Spanish were used. The descriptors used were: "health" AND "learning object" AND "distance education" OR "e-learning". The final sample of this review included 13 articles selected according with inclusion criteria previously established. It was found that 77% of the articles selected were published by European (39.5%) and Asian (38.5%) countries. 46.2% of the publications were published in 2016, 2017, and 2018, while 2019 and 2020 alone had 53.8%. The main learning objects used in distance teaching in health, listed in the articles included, were video classes, podcasts, e-books, and interactive games. Medicine was the professional category with the greatest number of LOs for professional training and education, followed by nursing and dentistry. The use of LOs in distance education show that, in 76.9% of studies, their use improved the performance in the teaching-learning process. Therefore, we expect this virtual educational benefit to become consolidated, so new strategies and tools become available in teaching strategies

    Get PDF
Objective: to build a sustainable development index for the river basins of Rondônia, using factor analysis as an analytical model. Method: factor analysis was used as a tool for building environmental, economic, social and institutional performance indices. The adapted FECAM classification scale was adopted to express the results achieved by each river basin. Results: The set of current sustainable performance indices for the Mamoré River watersheds (0.444) was considered a low index, although the best compared to other basins; the Madeira River (0.419, low index); the Guaporé River (0.378, low index); the Machado River (0.289, low index); the Jamari River (0.307, low index) and the Roosevelt River (0.227, low index). There has been a really insignificant improvement in the rates from 10 years ago. Conclusions: the factor analysis showed efficiency as a multivariate statistical method in the construction of sustainable development indices for the river basins of Rondônia. The management of watersheds is still very ineffective, despite being regulated by state law. It is highly recommended to institutionalize regional public policies in the form of a Master Plan for the Rondônia Watershed

Learning takes place in the interaction between people through the teaching process, from which the academic community appropriates socially established knowledge. In nursing, teaching education is essential for nursing education, and the role of the teacher in this aspect is fundamental for teaching-learning. Identify the students\u27 expectations in relation to the discipline of hospital management, as well as the gaps found in the methodologies applied in the teaching process. The field research used a questionnaire structured by the researchers. 31 students from the last year of nursing participated in the research. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Unifunec. The data were analyzed in the Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft Office Word programs. Of the 31 students interviewed, 55% (17) had a basic notion of how to identify the functions of the nurse manager, 16% (5) could not identify, 16% (5) knew how to identify with some difficulty, 13% (4) easily identified. Regarding the methodologies applied, technological advances were monitored, 51% (16) considered that partially, 39% (12) considered yes, 10% (3) considered no. It was identified that the discipline of hospital management generates many expectations in the students and, at the same time, point out gaps in the construction of this knowledge. Further research is suggested to find alternatives that allow the proximity of reality to learning and in the preparation of nurses to deal with managerial functions

Violence against women: The unique health system and medical conduct

    No full text
Violence against women is any form of discrimination, aggression or coercion, caused by the simple fact that the victim is a woman and causes physical, psychological, sexual, or moral damage, whether in the public or private sphere. It is a manifestation of historically unequal power relations between genders, which were gradually built and which continue today, showing the importance of knowledge of the actions of the Unified Health System (SUS) that coordinate and guide the conduct of health professionals, especially from the doctor. The present study aims to investigate medical conduct in the care of women victims of violence, SUS actions, and programs, specifically carried out at the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation. This is a quantitative study and the instrument used was a questionnaire, prepared by the authors. Thirty-three physicians answered the questionnaire, where 97% have already assisted women in situations of violence, 97% know the protocols for the care of women victims of violence, and 67% judge public health actions to support these victims as ineffective. The data allow us to conclude that SUS actions have the potential to have a direct impact in the context of violence against women, if the necessary support is provided to make complaints, in addition to long-term protection and prevention protocols

Introduction: Sickle cell anemia due to recent scientific evidence suggests that individuals with disease are considered a risk group and SARS-CoV-2 and spreads rapidly in this group of patients with diseases due to lack of inherited immunity, has a high lethality rate among young people and children and patients with associated comorbidities such as Diabetes Mellitus. Objective: to analyze the profile of patients with sickle cell anemia and their immunological motivations for worsening in positive cases of COVID-19 from a systematic review. Results: Initially, 217 articles were identified, of which 213 were removed because they were not related to the theme of the review, or because they were duplicated or did not have the abstract. The 04 selected articles were classified into two thematic axes to be performed the analysis. Discussion:  This systematic review study is the first with sickle cell anemia and COVID-19 in the adolescent population with a limited resource configuration that shows the inherent need in the management of both diseases. However, in this systematic review, the four included studies showed a favorable evolution of the infectious process by COVID-19, and deaths occurred in adolescent patients who concomitantly had multiple comorbidities, for example, DM. Conclusion: It was found in this systematic review study that COVID-19 infection may accentuate the presence of vasculopathy in patients with sickle cell anemia and may increase pain to varying degrees
