Notes on the development of water treatment technologies: an analysis of patent applications between 2000 and 2020
This paper aims to analyze the research efforts carried out to develop new technological applications in the field of water and sanitation services. We use the Derwent Innovations platform to perform a search for global patent applications made between 2000 and 2020 that received the D15 technological classification ("treating water, industrial waste and sewage"). The survey identified 31,278 patent families, including 2,938 applications that were extended to Brazil. Our results suggest that General Electric (GE) owns the most technologically important water treatment patents. The company also stands out as the main holder of Brazilian patents, being closely followed by other multinationals such as Veolia and 3M. We conclude that large international companies are interested in spreading the main water treatment technologies to Brazil. Due to its large rivers and aquifers, Brazil poses as an attractive place for the development of new water treatment solutions. On the other hand, despite this favorable scenario, Brazilian organizations are staying out of the global race for patents in the field of water-related technologies

The main objective of this article is to analyze the Brazilian public policy to promote research, development and innovation and the prospects for Industry 4.0 in the Industrial Pole of Manaus. For this, a documental and bibliographic survey was carried out with the objective of identifying public policies to encourage research, development and innovation in Brazil, as well as the initiatives of the Manaus Free Trade Zone for the development of Industry 4.0. Thus, the correlations between the public policies of the Brazilian government and its local perspectives in the Industrial Pole of Manaus were identified, highlighting that the main currently existing initiatives stem from the mandatory investment in RD&I contained in Brazilian legislation and how important is the participation of the National State for the development of Industry 4.0 initiatives in the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
Perception of Stakeholders on organizational performance in a Unified Health System hospital (100% SUS) with Level III Hospital Accreditation, Serra Gaúcha
The objective of this study is to identify the perception of stakeholders in relation to organizational performance and innovation after the Hospital Accreditation of Hospital Geral de Caxias do Sul – RS. The discussion points were aspects of organizational performance, Hospital Accreditation, and innovation in health services. As for the methodological aspects, applied research of an exploratory qualitative nature was adopted through in-depth interviews with stakeholders. The results showed that Hospital Accreditation contributes to the awareness and systemic view of the parties. It demonstrates that certification promotes learning, adding value to the lives of those involved, as well as bringing recognition from the society as a quality and creditable service, seen as a reference for other hospitals, especially for those who depend on public resources. A perception related to financial sustainability as well as a category of simultaneous action stakeholders (simultaneous action of external and internal stakeholder in a teaching hospital activity) were also identified
Integrated Scale for Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ISD-ASD)
These theoretical-experimental antecedents, this study attempts advance iver research line regarding build an integrated analysis scale that facilitates ASD´ specific diagnosis, based on disorder criteria, from evolutive-behavioral items and perceptual-cognitive criteria integrated into single diagnostic scale, whose main aims are following: 1) facilitate the statistical probability for ASD specific diagnosis, and 2) specify the empirical probability to ASD´level according to DSM-5 Intl classification.
Integrated Experimental Scale (ISD-ASD) made up of six dimensions which integrate development evolutive, behavior, social and communication abilities with variables regarding psycho- neurological perceptual-cognitive information processing: developing, communication, interaction, behavior, attention and cognition.
A total of 124 participants of three ASD levels, belonging nine age intervals (y-o) and sex/gender way have been analyzed to experimentally justify the Scale. Results increasingly show the effectiveness of the diagnosis of ASD. Thus, total mean of six dimensions of this study found between 5.77- 7.88 belong to ASD level-1, between 7.88- 9.01 to ASD level-2 level and a score ≥ 9.02 would correspond to ASD level -3
Level of Physical Activity and Health Conditions of Military Policemen in The State of Rondônia, Western Amazon: A Study in Times of The Covid-19 Pandemic
Objective: To analyze the sociodemographic characteristics, levels of physical activity and health conditions of active military police officers in the State of Rondônia, in the Western Amazon, Brazil in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional field study, with a convenience sample, non-probabilistic and with a quantitative approach, with 358 PMs working in the PMRO. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic data and health conditions. The IPAQ-short version was used to assess the level of physical activity (NAF). Results: The age variable obtained (39.21 ± 6.41) years and (61.17%) of the PMs were less than 40 years old. The variable length of service was (15.44 ± 7.64) and (78.21%) of the police officers had less than 20 years of experience in the police service. The working hours obtained (6.87 ± 2.04) and (29.10 ± 80.79) days away from work due to NCDs or Covid-19. According to the NAF, 29.61% were classified as very active, 23.74% active, 14.24% irregularly active A, 8.38% irregularly active B and 24.86% sedentary. Of the CNCDs, musculoskeletal diseases (16.49%), psychosomatic diseases (14.80%), SAH (8.10%), dyslipidemias (5.58%), CVDs (2.51%), cancer (0, 56%) and DM2 (0.28%). Of the total number of infectious diseases, 34.08% contracted Covid-19. Conclusion: The physical activity levels (47.48%) of the military police were in the classification (irregularly active + sedentary) according to the IPAQ-short version, confirming the low PAL of these individuals. Low NAF, NCDs and Covid-19 contributed to momentarily worsening the quality of life of PMs
An Analysis of Offset Emission Permit Pricing Factors in the Korean Carbon Market
This study aims to empirically analyze the long-run and short-run equilibrium relationship between the price of Korea Offset Unit (KOC) listed and traded on the Korean Exchange since May 2016, and the variables affecting it, such as Korea Allowance Unit (KAU) price, oil, electricity, economic survey prospect index of the general manufacturing business, heating index and cooling index. This study analyzes the relationship in the demand side, and weekly time series data for about 6 years from the end of May 2016 were used with the ARDL model. As a result of the empirical analysis, KOC showed a positive correlation between KAU and oil price, and showed a negative correlation with the prospect of Business Survey Index in the long run. In the short term, KAU, oil price, and electricity price showed a positive correlation, and the prospect of Business Survey Index showed a negative correlation
Sustainable Tourism as a Strategy for Generating Employment and Income in the Local Economy
The study addresses and deepens the debate on which are the best choices of sustainable strategic public policies to promote income and employment generation in economically depressed local economies and unattractive in attracting investments. In this context, public actions and strategies to stimulate the development of sustainable tourism are a promising path, as long as they are thought of as a regionalized process. The success of these policies largely depends on the integration and cooperation between tourist regions. However, failures in the coordination of actions, low understanding of local managers of the micro and macroeconomic scenario make more articulated and consequently more effective actions difficult. The study through a descriptive research of qualitative analysis and making use of content analysis addresses ways to ensure the promotion of sustainable growth of local economies. Sustainable tourism depends on improving regional governance, articulation and integration between territories, reliability and transparency in the management of data collection and sharing for satisfactory decision-making in the strategies of public policies for regional development of tourism
The Methodology for Photovoltaic Plant Modeling with RETScreen Software application
In today\u27s world, the search for new energy generation alternatives is increasing and being far from large metropolitan centers is an aggravating factor for the socioeconomic development of municipalities. In addition to the difficulty and high costs of keeping a city in proper working order, the quality of service provided by electricity concessionaires has low efficiency and high consumption of fossil fuels. In order to contribute to a solution, this work aims to present an alternative developed using the RETScreen Software, through the design of a photovoltaic plant, to meet the energy demands of the municipalities in the state of Amazonas. Through the research, we sought to understand and present the particularities of each proposed chapter and, through computer simulation, to develop a renewable source plant to supply the demand of the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira-AM. Two possibilities of application of the result can be analyzed, where the fulfillment of the demand was carried out in a total and partial way and, with that, obtain satisfactory results such as the reduction of 50% of the consumption of fossil fuel, reduction of 25% to 50 % of emission of polluting gases and to present the potential that the generation of photovoltaic energy has for the Amazon region
Rousseau and language: a reflection on the origin of evil in humanity
In the famous short story The egg and chicken of the Ukrainian writer Clarice Lispector, the author resumes that classic question that has been going through the history of humanity about who was born first; the egg or the chicken? In an analogous way we could also question the emergence of evil in humanity presenting two possibilities, namely: is language or society responsible for the birth of evil? We know that from the perspective of the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau humanity is taken by the antagonism between nature and culture and this is the result of the process of degeneration of that through the inevitable process of perfectibility, continuously and without return causing the fall and moral degradation of the human being. However, unlike what some may think, it was not the needs that took men out of the state of nature, but passions, which can be represented by singing, dancing and sensual gesture, that is, language. For Rousseau, the spoken language is not something natural or inherent to the human being, it is something that has arisen over time in the history of mankind. According to the genebrino, the first humans did not use spoken language, because there was no need, since they lived in isolation and only found one similar sporadically. Thus, with the progress of human language, which can be considered the first social institution, we realize that the bases for the origin of civil society were established with the process of evolution of human language, which moved further and further away from nature to approach the artificiality of civil conventions, dictated by rationality, which elaborated new forms of relationship between men, based on positive laws, social contract and a new political order. In this sense, to the extent that language promotes the emergence of society, it also increasingly promotes the degeneration of the language, leaving it increasingly distant from nature, in a dialectical way. Thus, we aim at resuming the dichotomy between language and society, in order to establish a reflection about the origin of evil in humanity
