Pandemic impacts in Natal, one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil

    No full text
The coronavirus has impacted different sectors of society. The national and regional economy were highly weakened. In the state capital alone, around 300 companies closed in 2020. More than 87% of events in the same year were cancelled. Tourists visiting Natal / RN decreased sharply and this meant that hotels, bars, restaurants, and other activities had to suffer losses that had never occurred. This scientific article was carried out from studies that showed the impacts of the pandemic period on the Natal economy, found in statistical data from research institutes that demonstrated, in numbers, the economic losses of the tourism sector. These data served as the basis for the theoretical foundation of the analysis of several authors on the subject that, in this bibliographical, documentary and quali-quantitative research, showed different results. Among them, the need for solid and robust public policies for the reheating of the sector in 2021, when the prospects are for a decrease in the unemployment rate and an increase in financial assets, both fundamental for Brazil\u27s GDP

Studies of the technological properties of little-known native species are essential for an indication of sustainable management of the Amazon. The study aimed to evaluate the physical-mechanical performance of five Amazonian species obtained from an area managed in the Amazon by a non-destructive methodology, and to indicate their use to manufacture EGP panels. The samples were obtained from non-flooded secondary forest in the Amazon/Brazil (EEST/INPA). Fifteen trees were selected to determine the physical-mechanical properties, using the microwave system to determine the moisture, the apparent density test and the dynamic modulus of elasticity (MOEd). The microwave system presents better drying performance when compared to the conventional method (artificial drying), considering that the dry woods in this system present greater stability in the equilibrium moisture, and the woods from Murici, Breu vermelho and Angelim pedra presented content close to 12%, ideal moisture for EGP manufactures. The apparent density of the woods varied from 0.76 to 1.18 g.cm-3, classified as high density, following the standards of tropical woods. The studied woods presented MOEd of 11,175 to 14,109 MPa, thus demonstrating good resistance, and lower risk of deformation for the different uses, including for EGP panels, whether structural or not, being necessary to consider the type of adhesive. The quality of the studied woods presents a promising result for industrial indication, since they are mostly unknown or non-commercial woods, where technological characterization is a key tool to assist in decision making in the forest management plans that may indicate the use of new species in the forestry sector

Characteristics and problems of unplugged computer science curriculum for young children: comparative and practical research based on the curriculum in four countries

    No full text
With the progress of computer science education in recent years, more and more educators have brought attention to computer science education among young children. Among all these strategies, the unplugged form has been shown to be more effective in teaching. However, recent studies have focused more on the impact of unplugged computer science courses on young children and less on whether these courses are appropriate for the developmental stage of young children. Therefore, this research summarized the curriculum characteristics by comparing different series of unplugged courses for young children from four nations. Then, in a 7-day workshop conducted in China\u27s urban areas, we explored the issues that arise in the implementation of these courses. This research reveals that, although the existing courses cater to a young age range, four issues can still be found, including difficulty, ability difference, too much cooperation, and emphasis on abstraction. Some of these issues may be handled by instructors, while others need consideration of the connection between curriculum design and the physical and cognitive development levels of young children. Furthermore, this research explored the acceptance of unplugged computer science among Chinese young children as well as its impact on their computational thinking level, achieving positive results

The prescription of physical activity in Brazil is widespread as an action of the Physical Education professional. In this process, it is up to him to plan, elaborate, systematize, plan, monitor and evaluate the practitioner. Therefore, with evolution, technologies capable of performing the same functions have emerged. In this regard, are technologies that have physical activity prescription functions protectable? Is there technology for this purpose and capability? These are the questions that structure this research. It aimed to analyze patents that will present a profile of physical activity prescription in other areas and in other countries. In the field of investigation, basic research characterized in the principles of documentary research was applied, with a sample of 198 patents using data analysis in the interpretive phase of the data. It was concluded that there is a technology protected by a patent that has a role and competence in the field of prescription, monitoring and evaluation of practice in the health sphere. There is still a need for further studies to deepen and increase knowledge in the axis of intellectual property, physical activity, professional Physical Education and health

3D printing as a tool in anatomy teaching: An integrative review

    No full text
Anatomy is essentially a three-dimensional content and learning its structures, through 3D impressions, for example, is of notable importance. In this context, traditional teaching methods, despite being highly effective, still have some limitations. Therefore, 3D printing has been introduced in the teaching of Anatomy, bringing several advantages, such as accuracy, personalized study and easy handling. Based on these premises, the objective of this work was to carry out an integrative review on the use of 3D printing in the teaching of human anatomy. A study was carried out in science direct, PUBMED, Scielo databases between 2010 and 2021 using the following descriptors 3D printing and teaching of anatomy. It was found that among the benefits of using 3D parts, there are: accuracy, durability, ease of production, good cost-benefit ratio and reduction of security risks linked to the fixation of cadaver and plastinated specimens. It was observed that in some studies most students preferred the use of 3D printing to traditional methods. Other studies have shown the importance of the use of 3D printing as a complementary tool to traditional methods of teaching anatomy. It was found that the use of 3D printing as a teaching tool may reduce the demand for bodies and overcome some of the governmental legal and ethical problems in the cadaver study, further studies should be carried out to assess the long-term impact of using 3D printing

Leadership in education and the phenomenon of the glass ceiling

    No full text
In recent years there has been an increase in the presence of women in management positions. However, many studies have shown that women are treated stereotypically in the workplace. In particular, both the biological and the social sex as it is formed through stereotypes and prejudices, create obstacles, inhibiting the promotion of women to leadership positions. These obstacles are usually invisible and are the so-called Glass Ceiling phenomenon. As a result, women are under-represented in high-ranking positions as they are evaluated by different criteria than men. In the field of education, although the majority of teachers are women, the leadership of the educational units is presented to belong to men in a way that exudes "hegemonic masculinity" (Daraki, 2007), since it is governed by masculine values. Nevertheless, women have entered the field of work education dynamically, with the result that the 20th century is characterized as a century of women. Of course, the "weak sex" has given and gives many struggles in its effort to break the Glass Roof and strengthen its position in the labor and social sector

    No full text
Introduction: This work has as theme the passenger shelters in Belém, Pará, in the year 2022. Objective: to analyze the conditions of the shelters for bus passengers, based on the assumption of the need to wait for the arrival of the vehicle in a place with accessibility and adequate physical conditions. Methodological procedures: descriptive research, qualitative approach, using the bibliographic and field research, mediated by observation, from images of bus stops, located in Belém, capital of Pará, in 2022, chosen randomly, aiming for greater representativeness of the object under study. Results: It can be inferred that there are not enough shelters to meet the demand since, of the total of 1,513 bus stops, only 570 (38%) have passenger shelters; the conservation conditions are extremely poor, with a lack of coverage and side protection, seats and spatial orientation information. Conclusion: Observing the substantial absence of shelters for bus passengers in Belém, it is suggested that the government, together with the private sector, seek alternatives for implementing such urban equipment, considering the demand for buses in Belém, as well as the climatic characteristics of the city.
