    No full text
Technological advances are present in different segments of society and, in education, social transformations are consolidated as an important element for technical, human and political development, for that, it is necessary to dialogue with technologies that converge to the same look, in this sense. , Free Software represents an advance in this perception of collaborative movement, acting as a link to a scenario that represents the sum of all knowledge in the teaching versus learning relationship. This model used in Free Software, which prioritizes the subject in the construction of knowledge, constitutes an important ally for the consolidation of the elements present in the spaces of education, whether due to the cultural diversity resulting from the existing relations between the production communities, whether by the amount of existing technological resources in the different areas of knowledge and for the different levels of education. The graphic representation, supported by the theory of networks, about the existing relationships between the different areas of knowledge and the various levels of education on the quantity of software cataloged in the database of the Blog Software Livre na Educação (BSLE) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), although not exhausted by the present study, presents itself as an important analysis tool for discussions that dialogue with this theme, and which aims, in addition to bringing the reader closer to the theme, a computational model on the elements present in these relationships, contributing to the analysis of potentialities and specific needs in each area, especially in the educational context

    No full text
Waste from mining is the responsibility of companies and tailings and derived waste becomes one of the biggest problems, making it necessary to implement public risk management policies. The objective of this study is to identify impacts of environmental catastrophes on Brazilian technological production. Scientific publications deposited in the SCOPUS Database and patents deposited in the patent office of the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI) were considered the universe of this study. The analyzed sample consisted of scientific publications resulting from research with the keywords \u27iron ore\u27, \u27tailings\u27 and \u27dams\u27. A search was also carried out in the INPI database using the keywords \u27RESIDUO* AND MINERA*. The nonlinear regression of the number of deposits shows two curves. The first is ascending and the second descending. Curves in the years 1998 and 2015 are identified. The first identifies a trend towards an increase in the number of deposits and the second represents the stabilization of this growth in the number of deposits. The search in the SCOPUS database resulted in 223 publications. The year 2007 was identified as the moment of deflection of the curve with an increase in the number of publications. It is possible to affirm that Brazil is a center that generates science in the area of Dams and Iron Ore Tailings. On the other hand, it is not possible to identify any reflex of technological production from environmental catastrophes events. This suggests that Brazil is a country that does/finances science and does not produce technology in this area

    No full text
The discipline "Contemporary Theories of Education", in the Ph.D. course in the education of the University of Uberaba – UNIUBE, aims to foster reflections on the main educational epistemological trends. This work presents the construction of modern science highlighting Galileo Galilei, and Descartes in his trajectory on scientific rationalism. In addition, a reflection on postmodern science and education was built based on the texts of Baudelaire, Habermas, Jameson, and Lyotard, and the professor Newton Duarte’s lecture "Education, Modernity, and Postmodernity". The process of conceptualization of modernity and postmodernity takes into account the moment selected for the study. Based on this study, it can be noticed that simplifying thought is not able to understand diversity to know unity. To take in the knowledge, it is necessary to critically analyze society in parallel. The change of social mentality is only possible through the analytical knowledge that is taught many times by the school. However, the school needs to be reformulated to socialize knowledge and make this knowledge put into practice in the social environment

    Get PDF
Botulinum toxin (BT) considered a potent substance with high potential in several treatments, has also been gaining space in dental clinics for the treatment of various pathologies, is safe when used in appropriate doses and contraindications are respected. Before starting BT therapy, it is necessary to communicate the patient about all the potentialities and limitations of treatment. The toxin has become an efficient option for the treatment of facial paralysis (FP), a pathology that causes contraction in the facial muscles, causing temporomandibular dysfunction, damage to the process of eating food and liquids, as well as aesthetic constraints, compromising the patient\u27s quality of life. The objective was to present the application of BT as a therapeutic option in FP. This is a review with qualitative data researched in PubMed, VHL, SciELO and LILACS. Seventy-two studies were found, excluding 27 that were outside the inclusion criteria, and 45 studies were selected. It was found that the first step to its use is to analyze the patient, evaluating the facial resuscitation procedure, defining the possibility of reversal or considerable improvement. Subsequently, it is essential to determine the cause of paralysis, its duration and the functional deficits that the patient presents, after establishing the cause, its indication is evaluated. It is essential that an individualized evaluation is always performed, proposing a realistic therapy, and making the patient aware that it is a temporary treatment. The medical literature also shows a positive effect for the use of BT in the treatment of FP, improving the quality of life, especially the patient\u27s self-esteem

    Get PDF
The dawn of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, better known as Industry 4.0, is set to enable global networks of machines and equipment in an environment of smart factories, capable of instantly exchanging information in an independent manner and having the Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems as backbone for an autonomous operation. Great gains in productivity and flexibility are expected, which tend to intensify global competitiveness, promote social changes and economic development, besides stimulating new academic works, such as the proposal of models capable of identifying the maturity level of an organization in this context. Therefore, the present work proposes a maturity model to measure the maturity level of civil construction companies regarding the adoption of technologies and practices of Industry 4.0. Based on a systematic literature review, the proposed model was built from existing maturity models and their characteristics and relevant components. The model is supported by a elaborated questionnaire of twenty-three questions considering four dimensions (Technology, Organization, People and Sustainability) which was submitted to seven different companies in the city of Manaus/Brazil. The results after the practical application of the model showed that most companies had a low level of adoption of Industry 4.0 principles and there is plenty of room for improvement

The study aims to describe osteoarticular and musculoskeletal disorders, chronic pain, quality of life (QOL) and physical activity level (PAL) distributed by age group and gender in the elderly. The design was quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional. The non-probabilistic sample, for convenience, comprised 101 elderly people, over 60 years old, who regularly participate in water aerobics activities in the municipality of Dois Irmãos, RS. The instruments used were: Multidimensional Pain Assessment Scale, Survey of Pain Attitudes, IPAQ and EUROHIS-QOL. Descriptive frequency analyzes were performed, which showed the predominance of women in water aerobics activities, most frequently in the age group of 70 years. Similarly, the presence of osteoarticular and musculoskeletal disorders and chronic pain intensity (moderate and severe) were more expressive in females and in the age group of 70 years. The distribution of QOL and pain intensity in relation to age, gender and PAL shows in the age group of 60 years, the male, irregularly active with higher average, with higher occurrence of pain (moderate) in the active elderly. Active females, on the other hand, show better QOL scores and higher pain intensity in irregularly active aspect. In conclusion, the actions promoted by the municipality have a positive impact on QOL. However, there is a need for greater involvement of participants to achieve more adequate levels of regular physical activity, taking into account the significant presence of pain complaints in females and in the age group of 70 years

    Get PDF
This study aims to apply the SPECO method in a firetube steam generating unit located in a food industry to measure the cost and to suggest actions that will increase its efficiency. In the current global scenario, researches for alternatives of the cost reduction and increased sustainability are more and more on the agenda in companies. Therefore, the present work develops a study to make possible the energy losses minimization in biomass boilers located in Saudali food industry, Ponte Nova (Minas Gerais, Brazil). The used methodology was developed from the exergoeconomic analysis using the Specific Exergy Costing (SPECO) method. To possibilitate this procedure it was necessary to map all the exergetic flows and to find its thermodynamic values. Regarding the fuel calorific potential, it was necessary the measurement of its average humidity, measured in (25 ± 1%), approximately, in order to obtain a Lower Calorific Power of 15960 kJ.kg-1. The massic and exergy flow rates values were defined using measurement equipments, thermodynamic tables and company’s information. The obtained results for exergetic efficiency, steam cost and fuel cost were, respectively, 51.74%, 0.0446 R.(kWh)1and0.01490R.(kWh)-1 and 0.01490 R.(kWh)-1. These results evidenced a cost ratio between product and fuel of 1.99, which represents a product cost two times superior to the fuel cost, approximately. It is concluded that SPECO method application in Saudali industry evidenced important and often disregarded points, as the moisture interference in biomass available exergy and great variance between steam and fuel costs
