DiFA - Digital Formative Assessment (Evaluation Study)

    No full text
As part of the Digital Formative Assessment (DiFA) project, an online course was developed for student teachers that offers individualised, trace-based feedback on learning behaviour. The course, which ran over five learning units, focussed on the use of digital media in the classroom and included multimedia materials such as texts and videos as well as interactive activities such as concept maps, forum discussions and self-assessment tests. The project comprised two empirical phases: In the pilot phase, participants provided self-reports on self-regulated learning and learning engagement and completed a multiple document processing test. Detailed log data of the learners´ interactions were recorded in order to develop behavioural indicators and feedback models. In the evaluation phase, the feedback system was tested in an experimental design that included personalised and non-personalised feedback. At the end of each learning unit, participants received feedback on their learning behaviour and suggestions for behavioural adaptation. Pre- and post-measurements made it possible to analyse the change in the outcome variables. The results of the DiFA project contribute to a better understanding of learning behaviour in digital learning environments. In version 1.0.0, only the research data of the DiFA evaluation study (survey data and scores) without log data are available for re-use.

Aineisto liittyy Kiinan humanitaarisen avun kampanjaan (Chinese Covid-19 Aid Campaign), jonka Kiinan kansantasavalta käynnisti pian Covid-19-pandemian puhkeamisen jälkeen joulukuussa 2019. Aineisto keskittyy Kiinan Covid-19-tukikampanjan ensimmäisen vuoden aikana tekemiin lahjoituksiin. The dataset tracks the humanitarian aid campaign that the People's Republic of China launched soon after the eruption of the Covid-19 pandemic in December 2019. The dataset focuses explicitly to Chinese humanitarian aid during the first year of the CCA campaign. The dataset tracks donations made by Chinese state and non-state actors for the purpose of treating, containing, and alleviating the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. It includes donations of both protective and medical equipment, along with cash donations and some non-medical items. In total, the dataset covers donations delivered to approximately 180 countries, non-state entities and international/regional organisations, mainly in 2020. General foreign and development aid are not included in the dataset. The background variables in the dataset are the date of the donation, the recipient country, the region of the recipient country, the name of the recipient, the type of recipient, the name of the donor, and the type of donor

Swiss Aging Survey (SAS), wave 1

    No full text
The Old Age Monitoring has the main aim of periodically documenting living and health conditions of the retired population in Switzerland. In order to do so, it consolidates relevant publications for Switzerland, analyzes existing data from the government and cantons, and - if necessary - runs an own survey in order to provide an empirical basis for its analyses. The data collections are run under the title "Swiss Aging Survey (SAS)". The first wave of data collection was carried out in 2022, with plans to repeat it every 2-3 years

StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement), 2023

    No full text
The central aim of StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement) is to develop a valuable source of information about students’ experiences of higher education in Ireland. The results of the survey are intended primarily to add value at institutional level, and to inform national policy. A detailed online survey was offered to first year undergraduates, final year undergraduates and postgraduate students on taught programmes. Data are presented as responses to individual items and as calculated scores for nine indicators that relate to broad aspects of student engagement, such as Collaborative Learning and Higher Order Learning. StudentSurvey.ie has formative links with the US National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and the Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE). Thus, Irish data can be evaluated in the context of other jurisdictions in addition to the national or sector contexts. Note that there was a substantial revision of questions deployed in 2016 results in the fact that 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 data may be compared directly, but do not fully compare to data from previous years. Another review was carried out in 2021, and some changes were made to the questions used in 2022. The term ‘student engagement’ is used in educational contexts to refer to a range of related, but distinct, understandings of the interaction between students and the higher education institutions they attend. Most, if not all, interpretations of student engagement are based on the extent to which students actively avail of opportunities to involve themselves in ‘educationally beneficial’ activities and the extent to which institutions enable, facilitate and encourage such involvement. StudentSurvey.ie focuses on students’ engagement with their learning and their learning environments. It does not directly explore, for example, students’ involvement in quality assurance or in institutional decision-making. Measuring engagement can provide a means to develop a fuller understanding of the student experience above and beyond that ascertained through surveys of student satisfaction alone. A total of 39,403 students from 21 institutions responded to the survey which was undertaken in February – March 2023
