Get PDF本論文では、アドルフ・フィッシャーによって1909年に設立し、1913年に開館したケルン東洋美術館の仏教コレクションのコレクションと展示内容について取り扱う2。在海外日本美術研究者らの間では、ケルン東洋美術館は、ヨーロッパでは珍しい豊富な日本彫刻のコレクションを所蔵していることで知られている。他の美術館とは異なり、美術史的な観点から収集されたという指摘もあるが、そのコレクションの全容と当時の展示に関する美術史・博物館史の観点からの研究は行われていない。本論文は、一つの美術館の仏教美術コレクションに関する事例研究であり、当時の博物館の案内書や、美術書、美術雑誌の論文等を使用した文献研究である。20世紀初頭のケルン東洋美術館の仏教美術コレクションと展示の背景にあるアドルフ・フィッシャーの意図や展示内容を明らかにすることによって、ジャポニスムの価値観とは異なる美術史的な収集方針に基づいた仏教美術コレクションであることを示した。This paper is a case study on the Buddhist art collection of the Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne which was established by Adolf Fischer in 1909 and opened in 1913. Among overseas Japanese art researchers the Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne is known for its rare and extensive collection of Japanese sculptures in Europe. While it has been noted that the collection was acquired from an art historical perspective there has been no research conducted on the complete content of the collection and its exhibition at that time from the perspective of art history and museum studies. This paper is a study of a single museum’s Buddhist art collection and is based on documentary research using museum guidebooks art books and articles in art magazines. It aims to reveal Adolf Fischer’s intentions and the exhibition contents underlying the Buddhist art collection and its exhibition in the early 20th century as well as to highlight the differences from the general Japanese Buddhist art collections of that time.departmental bulletin pape
