Isolation Forest Meets Link Prediction: A Novel Framework for Backbone Extraction
International audienceComplex networks appear across various disciplines, including social sciences, biology, finance, and transportation. Their complexity often obscures critical structural and functional relationships, making analysis difficult. Backbone extraction simplifies networks by preserving key connections while reducing complexity. Traditional backbone extraction methods apply fixed thresholds on computed scores, making them highly sensitive to parameter choices. In a previous work we introduced similarity-based and embedding-based link prediction techniques for backbone extraction. However, these methods depend on predefined thresholds. They preserve either the top or bottom fraction of scores and discard the remaining fraction, which may contain structurally significant interactions. To overcome these limitations, this study presents a novel backbone extraction framework integrating link prediction with anomaly detection
Patient-reported outcomes in patients with hematologic malignancies treated with CAR T-cell therapy in Europe
International audiencePatient-reported outcomes (PROs) give direct insights into the treatment's impact on patient's life and are an essential addition to clinical outcomes. However, since the advent of CAR T-cell therapy (CAR-T), PROs have been underreported. Particularly little is known about long-term health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and dimensions as mental- and social wellbeing, working-life and financial burden. Therefore, we evaluated multidimensional PROs in a cross-sectional study among European patients who received CAR-T for hematologic malignancies. Patients completed validated questionnaires (EQ-5D-5L/EORTC-QLQ-C30/PCL-5/modified-iPCQ) and ad hoc items on treatment experiences, unmet care needs and HRQoL. The survey was available online (January-October 2023) in 7 languages. Outcomes were compared with the European general population, a matched CAR-T naive cohort with hematologic malignancies and across subgroups, using established thresholds for clinically important differences/problems and regression models. Patients from 10 European countries participated (N=389; CAR-T>1 year ago:56%). Mean EQ-VAS and EQ-index were 73.1(SD:18.5) and 0.842(SD:0.177). HRQoL was similar/better than reference cohorts, except for role-, social-, and cognitive-functioning. Physical-functioning problems were most frequently reported(41%), particularly by women, elderly, and those who experienced neurotoxicity. The latter subgroup also reported more cognitive- and social-functioning problems. Anxiety regarding disease recurrence(76%), infections(66%) and long-term side-effects(59%) was common and 4% met provisional PTSD-diagnosis criteria. Among working-age patients, 72% could continue paid work after CAR-T. Younger patients(32%) reported more financial difficulties than older patients(9%). This study shows favorable general HRQoL after CAR-T compared to reference cohorts. However, a notable proportion of patients experienced problems in physical-, mental- and social wellbeing. We identified high-risk subgroups and care needs that should be addressed during CAR-T follow-up

Early Bronze Age subsistence in Armenia: an archaeozoological approach
International audienceThis study explores the strategies used by Kura-Araxes (KA) communities (c. 3500-2500 BC, Early Bronze Age) in Armenia to secure supplies based on animal products. The research is based on the archaeozoological analysis of faunal assemblages from three regions -Ayrum-Teghut, Shresh-Mokhrablur and Karnut-Shengavit of the Armenian plateau-, defined by distinct ceramic traditions. It seeks to identify variations in dietary strategies and animal exploitation across KA cultural subgroups. By integrating traditional zooarchaeological techniques with morphological and metric analyses, the research also examines livestock size and shape variations, offering insights into husbandry practices and regional adaptations. This project addresses a substantial gap in KA studies by aiming to provide a comprehensive zooarchaeological perspective on the Armenian plateau, regarding subsistence practices and livestock management strategies within the Caucasian heartland of the Kura-Araxes culture during the Early Bronze Age

Termination of Injective DPO Graph Rewriting Systems using Subgraph Counting
International audienceWe present a machine-checkable sufficient condition for relative termination of double-pushout graph rewriting systems with injective rules on edge-labeled multigraphs. Our method defines a graph's weight as the sum of weights of occurrences of a set of graphs within it. By ensuring (1) every rewriting step using rules in a set A of rules strictly decreases the host graph's weight, and (2) every rewriting step using rules in a set B of rules never increases it, we guarantee that rules in the set A can be applied only finitely many times in any rewriting sequence with rules in the union of A and B. Our method resolves termination cases that prior interpretation-based methods cannot. We also propose an implementation of our technique
