DQAsomes as a Coenzyme Q10 Delivery Vehicle: A Step Forward Therapy in Leigh Disease
Leigh syndrome (LS), a severe neurometabolic disorder caused by mitochondrial dysfunction, is often linked to coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) deficiency. This study investigated using dequalinium chloride to create CoQ10-loaded DQAsomes (liposome-like vesicles) to improve CoQ10 solubility and delivery to mitochondria. DQAsomes were characterized for size, charge, encapsulation efficiency, and yield. Further, drug release, dissolution, and effects on cell viability were studied in human pluripotent stem cells (HPP) and NDUFV gene-mutant cells (MDCi007-A). Techniques like RT-PCR, ELISA, immunostaining, and Western blotting were used to assess pluripotency markers, gene expression, and apoptosis. Results showed DQAsomes with sizes between 165.8 and 311.2 nm and a negative charge. Encapsulation efficiencies ranged from 34.03 to 82.48%. CoQ10-loaded DQAsomes significantly improved cell viability compared to CoQ10 in solution. Additionally, CoQ10-DQAsomes decreased pluripotency markers, suggesting potential effects on stem cell properties. In summary, the development of CoQ10-loaded DQAsomes offers a promising approach to enhance CoQ10 delivery, potentially improving cellular health in LS. Assessment of breastfeeding self-efficacy in nursing mothers following earthquakes: A case study of the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes in Turkey
Background: Natural disasters disproportionately impact vulnerable populations, particularly mothers and infants. Research indicates that during such events, mothers often favor formula and supplementary feeding over breastfeeding. Self-efficacy is a critical determinant influencing breastfeeding practices in disaster contexts. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the breastfeeding characteristics and self-efficacy of nursing mothers following the Kahramanmara & scedil; earthquakes. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted at the Children's Polyclinic of Iskenderun State Hospital in Turkey from August 1 to August 31, 2023. A total of 54 mothers with infants aged 0-1 year at the time of the earthquake, who continued to breastfeed (providing breast milk for at least one feeding), were selected using a non-probability purposive sampling method. During the study period, all eligible mothers visiting the polyclinic who met the inclusion criteria were evaluated. Data were collected using a Descriptive Data Form and the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Short Form Scale. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 23, employing Independent Samples t-tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, and One-Way ANOVA for group comparisons. A P-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean breastfeeding self-efficacy score among mothers was 58 +/- 5.87 (minimum 40; maximum 70). Mothers who exclusively breastfed their infants had significantly higher self-efficacy scores compared to those who introduced formula (P = 0.021) Among the mothers surveyed, 81.5% reported that their breastfeeding was affected by the earthquake; 41% cited issues related to privacy, while 27% faced challenges regarding shelter. Prior to the earthquake, 72% of infants were exclusively breastfed; however, this figure decreased as 81.5% of infants began receiving complementary foods alongside breast milk post-earthquake. Conclusion: The findings indicate that mothers breastfeeding self-efficacy is at a moderate level. Additionally, mothers reported alterations in their breastfeeding practices compared to the pre-earthquake period. These results underscore the importance of promoting breastfeeding in disaster-affected areas and highlight the critical role of midwives in supporting these efforts
Translating the 'untranslatable': is it the way to become a translator celebrity?
This article aims to explore how Turkish translators of James Joyce have gained recognition in T & uuml;rkiye as 'translators of the untranslatable' and seeks to understand how translating works known for their untranslatability contributes to the translator's celebrity status. The study focuses on the four Turkish translators of Joyce's works, particularly Ulysses and Finnegans Wake, and employs Akashi's (2018b) categorisation of fame in its theoretical framework to investigate the level of recognition achieved by the translators in T & uuml;rkiye. Data was collected from various online platforms, including newspapers, magazines, forums, blogs, and social media accounts to understand how the translators are perceived. The study concludes that translating the untranslatable has not created the celebrity translator as a distinct phenomenon, but has nonetheless significantly contributed to the translators' prominence. While some of the translators are regarded as 'media active' due to their increased visibility through media engagements, others have remained 'recognised' translators. Thus, the study reveals that while all translators have managed to highlight their role through the act of translating the untranslatable, what distinguishes their prominence is their ability to leverage media visibility
Identifying The Role of Green Spaces in Air Quality Regulation: The Case of Trakya University Balkan Campus
This research aims to investigate the ecological benefits and economic value of the vegetation cover on the Balkan Campus of Trakya University. The distribution of land cover classes, carbon storage capacity and air pollution mitigation effects of the campus area were assessed using the i-Tree Canopy tool. The results showed that the vegetation canopy, covering 23.93% of the area, removes 2375 kg of gases and particulate matter from the air. The economic benefit of improving the air quality of the campus area was estimated to be $1144. In addition, the amount of carbon sequestered by the canopy was 107.61 tons, while the amount of carbon stored was 2702.45 tons. The results indicate that the canopy cover of trees/shrubs on campus contributes significantly to the ecosystem by improving air quality. This study also highlights that increasing green space and promoting planting efforts can provide significant environmental and economic benefits in creating sustainable and climate-friendly campuses
Comparison of Sensory Processing and Kinesiophobia in Older Adults with and without Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Examination of the Relationship Between These Parameters: A Case-Control and Correlation Study
Objective: To examine the relationship between sensory pro- cessing and kinesiophobia in older adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Material and Methods: A total of 120 older adults aged 65-75, 60 with Type 2 DM and 60 without Type 2 DM, participated in the study. The older adults in both groups were evaluated with the Adolescent/Adult Sen- sory Profile (AASP) and Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TKS) and the results were compared. Additionally, the relationship between AASP and TKS was examined in older adults with Type 2 DM. Results: It was found that older adults with Type 2 DM had worse kinesiophobia and AASP subparameters vestibular, visual, tactile processing and activity level (p0.05). In older adults with Type 2 DM, a moderate statistically sig- nificant relationship was found between vestibular processing (p=0.000, r=0.459) and activity level (p=0.000, r=0.519) with kinesiophobia. A weak statistically significant relationship was found between visual (p=0.032, r=0.277) and tactile processing (p=0.043, r=0.267) with kinesiophobia. No statistically significant relationship was found between taste/smell (p=0.213, r=0.163) and auditory (p=0.397, r=0.111) with kinesiophobia.Conclusion: It was observed that Type 2 DM causes deficiencies in vestibular, visual, tac- tile processing and activity levels in older adults and that these areas in- crease the level of kinesiophobia. Occupational therapists and other health professionals should evaluate all sensory areas for older adults with Type 2 DM and plan interventions by considering the relationship of these areas with physical and psychological parameters, especially kinesiophobia

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Periferik Venöz Kateter İlişkili Enfeksiyonların Önlenmesinde Kanıta Dayalı Uygulamaya Yönelik Tutum ve Farkındalıkları
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes and awareness of nursing students regarding evidence-based practices for the prevention of peripheral catheter-associated infections. Method: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 2nd, 3rd and 4th year nursing students (n=327) who were studying in the nursing department of a state university's health college and practicing clinical practice. Data were collected using student introduction form, evidence-based practices in the prevention of peripheral catheter-associated infections information form, and attitude scale toward the importance and use of evidence-based nursing for students. Results: The mean total score of the attitude scale toward the importance and use of evidence-based nursing for students. was 69.94 +/- 16.26, and the mean knowledge score of evidence-based practices in the prevention of peripheral catheter-related infections was 12.37 +/- 2.64. Nursing students had the highest knowledge (97.2%) about the practice of Aseptic technique should be followed during insertion and care of peripheral intravenous catheters, and the lowest knowledge (74.9%) about the practice of Infusion sets used continuously in patients who are not given blood, blood products or lipid emulsions do not need to be changed more frequently than 96 hours, but should be changed at least every seven days. Conclusion: Nursing students' attitudes toward the importance and use of evidence-based nursing are above the medium level, and their awareness of evidence-based practices in the prevention of peripheral catheter-related infections is high. To increase the attitudes and awareness of nursing students toward evidence-based practice, evidence-based nursing courses should be added to the nursing education curriculum and students should be encouraged to conduct scientific research and participate in scientific activities
ON UNIFORMLY CONTINUOUS SURJECTIONS between FUNCTION SPACES
We consider uniformly continuous surjections between Cp(X) and Cp(Y ) (resp, Cp? (X) and Cp? (Y )) and show that if X has some dimensional-like properties, then so does Y. In particular, we prove that if T : Cp(X) ? Cp(Y ) is a continuous linear surjection and dimX = 0, then dim Y = 0. Retrocaval ureter and the diagnostic utility of dynamic scintigraphy: A case report
Retrocaval ureter is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by the persistence of posterior cardinal veins in front of the ureter due to their failure to regress in early embryonic development. Its main symptoms are discomfort, right flank pain, hematuria, recurrent infections, fever, and stone formation. A seven-year-old male patient presented with hematuria. Urinary ultrasound revealed Grade 2 hydronephrosis in the right kidney and dilation in the right proximal ureter. Considering the possibility of ureteropelvic junction obstruction, dynamic renal scintigraphy was performed which showed radiopharmaceutical accumulated in the mid-segment of the right ureter, likely due to compression that did not pass distally. To confirm the diagnosis, retrograde pyelography was performed perioperatively, and it was consistent with the retrocaval ureter. Laparotomy showed that the ureter ran behind the inferior vena cava from its mid-segment. A ureteroureterostomy was performed, the ureter was positioned anterior to the inferior vena cava, and a ureteral stent was inserted. In conclusion, renal scintigraphy traditionally provides information about the degree of obstruction and renal function. However, as in the presented case, the examination of dynamic renal scintigraphy images showing the accumulation of radiopharmaceutical substance in the mid-segment of the ureter and the absence of the distal ureter may indicate a retrocaval ureter. It is, therefore, of utmost importance for clinicians to review the images obtained from dynamic scintigraphy in cases of obstructive uropathy and recognize the possibility of retrocaval ureter. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

In the present paper, the concept of the related orbital completeness of two metric spaces for multivalued mappings is introduced. A new related fixed point theorem for multivalued mappings is proven, and some important results are obtained as corollaries of the main theorem. A single-valued version of the main theorem is also derived as a simple corollary, and two illustrative examples are provided
