Student-centered learning in the digital age: in-class adaptive instruction and best practices

    Get PDF
Adaptive instruction is a promising solution to the limitations of traditional classroom instruction, which assumes that all students learn in the same way and at the same pace. Adaptive instruction tailors the learning experience to each student’s needs and abilities. Several adaptive instruction tools and platforms exist, including intelligent tutoring systems, learning management systems, mobile apps, AI chatbots, and adaptive machine-learning programs. The Adaptive Instruction of Student Control Theoretical Framework suggests that allowing students to control their use of learning resources leads to better learning outcomes. Implementing adaptive instruction in higher education can be difficult due to faculty buy-in, technical infrastructure, and student motivation. Effective instructional design is crucial for adaptive instruction to support student control and maximize benefits. Overall, instructors must pay attention to student motivation and work to create learning environments that foster motivation, autonomy, and engagement to implement adaptive instruction successfully

    Get PDF
Teaching is a demanding profession that necessitates complex social and emotional skills. It has frequently been linked to negative outcomes such as tension, turnover, and job discontent. Every day, preschool educators interact with children and adults and must always maintain emotional control. This study aimed to examine the relationship between emotional labor and job satisfaction among preschool teachers. The study utilized a self-questionnaire; 280 first-line preschool teachers in Henan Province, Mainland, China, were selected to disseminate questionnaires. The overall mean score for emotional labor among preschool teachers was 3.90, indicating that these teachers are required to perform a great deal of emotional labor at work. Deep acting received the highest score, surface acting the second highest, and natural acting the lowest. There were considerable differences in emotional labor based on gender, kindergarten type, marital status, age, and job position. The correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between preschool teachers’ emotional labor and job satisfaction. A regression analysis revealed that deep acting positively predicted job satisfaction by a mean of 28.4%

Based on the regression analysis, the father’s income explains about 2.76% of the variance in financial literacy, while the mother’s income explains 10.8% of the variance in financial literacy. The results of this study show that parental income has a relationship with student’s financial literacy level. This finding of this study will help to understand more about the factor that can affect financial literacy

In-service English teachers’ motivations in the Indonesian teacher profession education program

    Get PDF
To be certified as professional English teachers, Indonesian teachers must complete the teacher profession education program (TPEP) offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Due to a lack of discussion and research on the motivation of inservice English teachers participating in the TPEP, this study explored the TPEP-related motivation of in-service English teachers. There were 80 inservice English teachers who joined the TPEP at a reputable private university in Indonesia participated in this mixed-method study. A survey questionnaire was distributed to the in-service teachers to know their motivation regarding the TPEP. The findings indicated that the majority of the in-service English teachers were highly motivated to participate in the TPEP. They also thought that TPEP was beneficial for teachers as it enhanced their knowledge and skills in teaching. Through the TPEP they learned to use innovative strategies to teach English such as project-based learning and problem-based learning. This implies that more in-service English teachers should be encouraged to join TPEP to develop their competencies

Adaptation and validation the integration scale for Indonesian university students: academic and social

    Get PDF
Student integration is a student’s ability to integrate into the social and academic systems of the university. Integration of students has been shown to affect how well they do on campus, which helps them finish higher education. The integration scale (IS) measures integration ability that meets the principle of simplicity. The integration scale is formed of 16 items divided into five aspects and two factors. This study aimed to adapt and validate IS instruments for the Indonesian university student population. The research methods complied with the six-step procedures the International Test Commission set out. A total of 309 participants were undergraduate students. They were between 17 and 23 years old (mean=19.42, SD=1.11 years), with 247 females (79.94%) and 62 males (20.06%). The results of the confirmatory factor analysis revealed that a total of 16 items were valid and reliable. Three models that have acceptable fits were confirmed. The results demonstrate that the Indonesian integration scale measures undergraduate student integration with comparable precision to the original scale. This scale can identify students who require academic and social integration assistance and evaluate the institution’s role in academic development
