Teacher’s management skills, well-being, religiosity, and academic motivation in Islamic education
Research on student academic motivation in Islamic educational institutions is currently in need of attention, as there are many schools based on Islam that have been overlooked by researchers. This research aims to investigate the role of perceived teacher management skills, psychological well-being, and religiosity towards students’ academic motivation using data from Muslim participants. A cross-sectional design was used to achieve the research objectives. A total of 318 participants (Female=200, Male=118, age M=16.7, age SD=1.9) were voluntarily involved in this research. Participants were asked for their willingness to fill out five scales. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression after the required conditions were met. The results of the research indicate that academic motivation is well predicted by perceived teacher management skills and psychological well-being. These findings highlight the importance of teachers showing mastery of management skills, including skills in maintaining interpersonal relationships with students and parents, and designing programs that can foster the psychological well-being of students
Efficiency in academic evaluation: data envelopment analysis systematic review
Education 5.0@UiTM is transforming Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This new approach emphasizes flexible learning paths that teach life and cross-disciplinary skills. To make higher education future-ready, universities must adapt fast to the significant global and technical changes caused by the 4th Industrial Revolution and transition from content-based to individualized learning. To ensure students meet Education 5.0@UiTM standards and corporate needs, the evaluation process must be reviewed. Competency-based academic achievement evaluation outperforms grades. This assessment is rarely systematically analyzed. This study was conducted to thoroughly explore the selection of input and output factors in determining student achievement efficiency using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach. The study reviewed publications from Scopus, Google Scholar, and Science Direct and found six themes for input variables: human resources, facilities condition and equipment, finance, curriculum, students characteristics, and community resources. output variables included student achievement, satisfaction, graduation rate, employment, research, and community resources. In DEA analysis, input and output selection affects scope, aim, production frontier, efficiency scores, accuracy and completeness. So, characterizing student achievement requires choosing relevant input and output variables. This study can enhance student evaluation processes to prepare college graduates for the next industrial revolution
Analysis of program outcomes attainment for diploma in civil engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang
Analysis of program outcomes involves the assessment of the learning objectives based on cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains and their attainment is measured using both direct and indirect approaches. This study aims to assess the program outcomes attainment for the civil engineering diploma program at Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang. The program outcomes attainment in this study was obtained from two categories of students based on cohort 20174 using the Plan ID 6541, namely i) 257 graduated on-time students and ii) 365 overall students including extended students. The attainments were analyzed quantitatively using key performance indicators for each program outcome and program performance indicators for the overall attainment of program outcomes. Based on the key performance indicator, the results reveal that nine program outcomes are indicated as excellent while three program outcomes are indicated as good. Meanwhile, based on the program performance indicator, this cohort is indicated as well performed where 9 out of 12 program outcomes recorded above 70% average attainment. Various effective continuous quality improvement (CQI) program can be identified by the school’s committee based on these findings to further enhance the program outcomes attainment
Factors antecedents of student learning satisfaction: evidence of online learning in Indonesia
COVID-19 has had a broad impact on learning in schools. There is a change in the learning model in online mode, this change also affects changes in student learning behavior including how to increase student learning satisfaction through online learning. Many studies have discussed online learning, but it is still limited to how student learning satisfaction is formed during online learning. This study examines the effect of perceived service quality, social media utilization, teacher techno-pedagogical competencies, and students’ motivation to learn online on student learning satisfaction. A total of 345 state vocational school students in Gianyar Regency, Bali, Indonesia were involved in this study. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis was used to test the hypothesis of this study. The results of the study show that students’ online learning satisfaction is significantly influenced by the quality of educational services and students’ online learning motivation. Meanwhile, other antecedent factors such as the use of social media and teacher competence proved to not affect student learning satisfaction. This study also found that students’ learning motivation was influenced by the quality of educational services. Meanwhile, the factors of using social media and teacher competency did not significantly influence student learning motivation. Lastly, this study also revealed that students’ online learning motivation proved to have no role as a mediator on the effects of quality of education services, use of social media, and teacher competency on the learning satisfaction of vocational school students
Enhancing teacher competence through collaborative worksheet development: an empirical investigation
This study examined the efficacy of collaborative teaching using a projectbased learning (PjBL) worksheet on plastic waste and climate change. The research design followed a type-II development approach, with two distinct phases: exploration and development, and collaborative teaching. The study involved five science teachers, two lecturers, and 45 seventh-grade students in three limited field trials. The study found that collaborative teaching through worksheet development could increase science teachers’ professionalism, particularly in the collegial phase. Furthermore, the study developed a valid PjBL-based worksheet on plastic waste and climate change, aligning with the 2013 curriculum for science instruction in junior high school, involving three core competencies. The research design employed a lesson study framework, which allowed for a thorough exploration of the research topic, leading to the development of effective instructional material. The findings of this study have significant implications for science education in junior high school, particularly in promoting active learning and fostering a deeper understanding of complex environmental issues. Overall, the study highlights the importance of collaborative teaching and the potential of PjBL-based worksheets in enhancing teacher competence and developing relevant instructional materials that align with the curriculum
Enhancing student career readiness: a two-decade systematic literature review
This study intends to discover the elements that impact student career readiness growth, analyze the components that dominate that growth, and identify the factors that dominate student career readiness. The methods used to review selected articles are discussed including publication standards, databases, eligibility and exclusion criteria, stages of the review process (identification, screening, feasibility) as well as abstraction and analysis of data. By following the guidelines of item preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) to produce this review. Based on the commonalities and traits of the first identified components, these factors have been separated into two categories, internal and external. Self-efficacy factors for internal factors and job training factors for external factors are the two factors with the maximum frequency and dominance over the others. Pursuing formal and non-formal education relevant to the chosen career field, making short-term and long-term career plans, establishing a strong professional network, and seeking relevant work experience through internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer work are all components of a career readiness strategy. Develop the necessary skills for an industry or career field, improve your communication skills, think positively, and be willing to confront career challenges. Maintain a balance between personal and professional life
Domestication theory in action: Indonesian Twitter corpus analysis during distance learning
This research aims at analyzing how COVID-19 discourse in the world of education unfolds in the Indonesian Twittersphere by separating public discourse in transition periods, large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), and imposition of emergency restrictions toward community activities (PPKM) and PPKM level 1 to 4. This research used qualitative approach and employed the Domestication Theory to provide a deeper understanding of how individuals integrate technology into their everyday lives. The dataset consisting of 3,196,627 tweets from two keywords and two hashtags was collected and analyzed using corpus linguistics techniques. This study found the emergence of the five main theme groups suggests that users have tried to make sense of and adapt to this new digital learning environment, while also expressing their frustrations and concerns. This highlights the importance of understanding how users domesticate technology and incorporate it into their social and cultural practices. The practical implications of this research include the need to address not only the technical aspects of online learning but also the psychological and social well-being of students, as they navigate this new learning environment
Digital hygiene skills and cyberbullying reduction: a study among teenagers in Kazakhstan
Cyberbullying is a growing concern among teenagers, leading to adverse psychological and emotional consequences. To address this issue, this study aimed to identify the role of digital hygiene skills in reducing cyberbullying experiences among teenagers in Kazakhstan. A quantitative research approach was employed, and the data were collected using a questionnaire with items related to digital hygiene skills and cyberbullying experiences, which were measured on a 5-point Likert scale. A stratified random sample of 238 students from town and district middle schools in the Turkistan region participated in the study. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings revealed that privacy protection, critical thinking, phishing and scam awareness, and digital footprint awareness were significant factors associated with reduced cyberbullying experiences. However, safe reporting, positive online behavior, and online etiquette did not significantly impact cyberbullying reduction. This study underscores the importance of promoting specific digital hygiene skills to create a safer and more supportive digital environment for teenagers. Policy recommendations are provided to enhance cyberbullying prevention efforts and foster a positive online culture
Mapping the global landscape of STEM education: a bibliometric analysis using Scopus database
Global innovation, economic growth, and societal advancement require excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. This study performed a bibliometric examination of articles related to STEM in education. A bibliographic dataset indexed in the Scopus database from 1980 to 2023 was analyzed using Excel and VOSviewer software. A total of 2,595 publications were taken for analysis. Bibliometric analysis results indicate that there has been a consistent growth in publications related to STEM education, and the highest number of publications was in 2022. The top three contributors are authors from North America, Oceania, Europe, and Asia. The United States was the most active contributor to STEM publications and had connections with Australia and Turkey. The most prolific journal is the International Journal of STEM Education, which has garnered 2,588 citations. Keywords such as “STEM,” “STEM education,” “STEM,” and “Education computing” were frequently used in these articles. Consequently, by shedding light on specific gaps in the existing literature, a comprehensive analysis of STEM education could aid scholars and practitioners in advancing their current understanding of this field
Technology-based learning effect on the learning outcomes of Indonesian students: a meta-analysis
The utilization of information technology in education offers learners access to a variety of learning resources that are not restricted. It is expected that this use will enhance the success of the learning process and the attainment of educational goals. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of information technology-based learning on the academic performance of students in Indonesia. This research adopts a meta-analysis design and utilizes a selection process based on established criteria to gather studies from the Google Scholar and Scopus databases. The study adheres to the PRISMA protocol. There were 51 studies included, comprising 44 academic journals and seven proceedings. The analysis technique applied is a meta-analysis using the random effect size model. The results of this study indicate that the utilization of information technology in education has a significant impact on the learning achievement of Indonesian students. The analysis of 51 studies, including 44 scientific journals and seven proceedings, showed that the effect sizes of the studies varied from -0.80 to 5.85, indicating heterogeneity in the studies analyzed. The effect size model used in this meta-analysis was a random effect size model, with the summary effect value showing a large effect size with a value of 1.285, a p-value<0.001, and a confidence interval ranging from 1.012 to 1.559. Subgroup analysis also revealed a significant difference in the average effect size across different levels of education, including elementary, secondary, and tertiary education. The results of the study showed no evidence of publication bias
