The aim of the article is to present issues related to negative phenomena on the Internet experienced by its users. The first part of the study attempts to characterize cyberbullying and phishing. The study covers a discussion of the indicated phenomena and a presentation of the results based on empirical research conducted in this field. The two following aspects were paid specialattention to: the experience of cyberbullying in a group of students and the level of knowledge pertaining to the issue of phishing of people participating in the research. The results of the conducted research confirm that cyberbullying is a common phenomenon and examples of its occurrence are known in the group of students participating in the research. Phishing is also familiar tothe group of respondents in the study. However, the knowledge on the subject of how to prevent phishing and where to report it if it occurs varies considerably among the participants.
Well-ordered and non-well-ordered lower and upper solutions for periodic 2N-dimensional systems
In this paper we consider a class of periodic problems associated with -dimensional systems of differential equations. Our aim is to generalize the theory of lower and upper solutions following the way paved in previous works.
After a careful analysis of the dynamics in the phase space, the proofs take advantage of topological degree arguments
The Role of Gut Microbiota in Hypertension Management - A Review
Introduction and purpose: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a condition characterized by persistently elevatedarterial pressure, leading to severe complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidneyfailure. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hypertension affectsapproximately 1.13 billion people worldwide, contributing significantly to global morbidityand mortality. Emerging research has revealed a significant connection between gutmicrobiota—the diverse community of microorganisms residing in the gastrointestinaltract—and the regulation of blood pressure. This comprehensive review explores the intricaterelationship between gut microbiota and hypertension, delving into the underlyingmechanisms, evidence from animal and human studies, and potential therapeuticinterventions. The state of knowledge: Key mechanisms involved into regulation of blood pressure include the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), modulation of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), immune system regulation, and metabolite production such as trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO). Animal studies using fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) have provided strong evidencefor a causal role of gut microbiota in blood pressure regulation. Human studies have shownassociations between gut microbiota composition and hypertension, highlighting the potentialfor dietary interventions, probiotics, prebiotics, physical activity and FMT as therapeuticstrategies.Summary: This review underscores the promise of microbiota-targeted therapies in managinghypertension and calls for further research to elucidate precise mechanisms and developpersonalized medicine approaches. Understanding the complex interactions between gutmicrobiota and hypertension could pave the way for innovative treatments and improvedcardiovascular health outcomes
The Role of Lifestyle in the Prevention and Treatment of Insulin Resistance: A Review of Clinical and Intervention Studies
Introduction
Insulin resistance (IR) is a metabolic disorder characterized by reduced tissue sensitivity to insulin, resulting in impaired glucose homeostasis. IR plays a pivotal role in the development of type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and associated cardiovascular complications. Effective strategies for the prevention and treatment of IR focus on lifestyle modification, including physical activity and stress management.
Aim of the Study
The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of lifestyle factors in the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance (IR) based on the analysis of clinical and interventional studies, with a particular focus on dietary interventions, physical activity programs, stress reduction techniques, and sleep quality improvement recommendations.
Materials and Methods
A review of clinical and interventional studies was conducted using databases such as PubMed. The analysis included studies evaluating the impact of specific lifestyle interventions on markers of insulin resistance (IR), such as fasting insulin levels, HOMA-IR indices and glucose tolerance. Particular attention was paid to randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and meta-analyses published between 2020 and 2024.
Summary
Studies have shown that diets such as the Mediterranean and DASH, combined with regular aerobic and resistance exercises, significantly improve insulin sensitivity. Additionally, stress-reduction techniques like mindfulness and yoga, along with adequate sleep quality, enhance positive metabolic effects. These findings highlight the need for a multifaceted approach to treating insulin resistance, incorporating dietary and behavioral changes. The review also points out research gaps and emphasizes the necessity of long-term studies to refine lifestyle recommendations for diverse population
Cough as the first symptom of chronic heart failure: A case report of a 72-year-old woman
Heart failure (HF) is defined as a clinical syndrome characterized by several key symptoms, which may be accompanied by physical signs. The prevalence of HF among adults in developed countries is approximately 1%–2%, and its frequency increases with age. HF is classified into three types: heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF), and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
The aim of this paper is to present the subtle clinical manifestation and diagnostic process based on the case of a 72-year-old female patient. This is a case-based report. The research method involved the analysis of a clinical case, utilizing the patient's medical records and test results as the primary tools. The diagnostic techniques included a review of the patient's documentation and relevant literature.
The first section outlines the pathophysiological basis, symptoms, classification, and treatment of heart failure. The diagnostic pathway of the patient is described, focusing on her initial presentation with mild cough without other clinical symptoms that could indicate the final diagnosis.
Echocardiography is one of the key diagnostic methods in chronic heart failure, but chest X-ray imaging can provide valuable clues when determining the etiology of symptoms presented by patients in primary care settings
Hypervitaminosis D in the pediatric population
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a huge role in the metabolism of bones and teeth, which is especially important among pediatric patients. Its deficiency in the developmental period is associated with a decrease in bone mass, bone mineralization disorders, as well as the development of rickets. In addition, vitamin D has an immunomodulatory effect, and its reduced level correlates with a higher incidence of certain autoimmune diseases and cancer. However, it is worth noting that nowadays, in the era of high availability of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and dietary supplements, not only hypovitaminosis D can be dangerous and pose a significant clinical problem. More and more parents decide to administer exogenous vitamin D preparations, often without prior consultation with a doctor to determine the optimal dose or duration of supplementation. Unfortunately, it happens that over-the-counter supplements contain a higher dose of vitamin D than the manufacturer suggests. This is very often due to inadequate control of supplement production. Restrictions similar to those in the case of drug production should be sought. It should be remembered that the human body, thanks to exposure to sunlight, under the influence of UV radiation, is able to synthesize endogenous vitamin D on its own. Another source of vitamin D is many foods such as fatty fish, eggs, mushrooms or dairy products, which should be in the diet of every person, especially a child. Therefore, it becomes necessary to define uniform recommendations for doctors and parents regarding vitamin D supplementation in children, as well as to educate the public about possible toxic effects resulting from excessive supply
Contamination of dietary supplements: the impact of the undeclared compounds on health, consequences of daily usage and prevention strategies
Throughout recent years, dietary supplement usage significantly increased. The reason behind it is a desire to enhance physical performance due to the healthy-body trend. As the primarily unregulated market grows, so does the possibility of consumer exploitation. By releasing products intentionally or unintentionally contaminated by undeclared active compounds, producers endanger the health of many people worldwide. Components found in ergonutritional products have a broad spectrum of properties but also many adverse effects, which may occur in long-term use, including cardiovascular, neurological complications, and hormonal imbalance, among others. It is pivotal for users to be aware of the possible risks of DS consumption and crucial for governments to tighten regulations regarding manufacturing, testing, and labeling food supplements to ensure the safety of consumers
Low back pain – a review
Low back pain (LBP) is a common condition affecting many individuals worldwide. Furthermore, it represents a significant economic challenge for healthcare systems due to its substantial associated costs. The etiology of LBP is complex but, in most cases, is not caused by serious underlying diseases. Physical examination remains the cornerstone of diagnosis, while additional tests, including imaging, are determined based on the clinical context. Treatment involves a combination of non-pharmacological, pharmacological, and invasive interventions. Despite numerous attempts to prevent LBP, only a few methods have been scientifically proven to be effective.
The aim of this review was to provide a comprehensive summary of evidence-based information and approaches regarding the pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of LBP. The literature reviewed was sourced from PubMed and Google Scholar Rusing the key words "low back pain" combined with terms such as "pathogenesis," "diagnostics," "imaging diagnostics," "treatment," and "prevention.
Infective Endocarditis - Diagnosis, Treatment and Specific Situations Management – Current Knowledge, Review of the Literature
Introduction
Infective endocarditis (IE) is a severe condition of endocardium, which can manifest through a wide spectrum of unspecific symptoms related to various organ systems. The diagnosis is made on the basis of the presence of bacteraemia and imaging findings confirming IE visualized in echocardiography, computer tomography and nuclear imaging. Anatomical changes or foci of altered metabolism can be located on the valves, in the perivalvular area or in the area of foreign material (e. g. valves prosthesis or implantable device). Not only the diagnostic process can be challenging, but also the treatment, which consists of antibiotic therapy and cardiac surgery. The indications for surgical treatment depend on patients’ clinical condition, which can change dynamically. Multidisciplinary approach is required to the proper care of the patients.
Aim of the study
The aim of the study is to review the current knowledge of infective endocarditis and the timing indications of cardiac surgery treatment.
Material and methods
This article presents the current knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment in infective endocarditis, especially on the basis of the guidelines of European Society of Cardiology. Literature analysis, especially papers, which contain recent report in infective endocarditis treatment were analysed using the PubMed platform. The search included the keywords: “infective endocarditis”, ,‚surgery treatment of infective endocarditis”, “endocarditis team”, “CIED- related infective endocarditis”
