The Role of the Family and Social Networks as Agents of Social Control in Correctional Institution Class I (A case Study in Sukamiskin, Bandung)
Get PDFFamily and social networks have a role in providing support to those in need. With the support from family and social networks, motivation in the training phase in Correctional Institution should be encouraged. However, people do not realize the importance of providing support for inventions, even though this can prevent a number of violations of use while undergoing training in Correctional Institution, such as escaping or other violations. In addition, Class I Correctional Institution at Sukamiskin is an Institution for corruptors in Indonesia, where stress level tends to be high. The former luxurious lives they used to have and enjoy are now the lives full of tension, worries and restlessness. The purpose of this research is to analyze the roles of family and social networks as social control to help them create a better situations. The method used in this study is the mixed method, a combination of both qualitative and quantitative. In this study, the sample was taken randomly, comprising 30 inmates in Class I Correctional Institution in Sukamiskin. The theory used is Hirchie's theory of social control and the stress-coping mechanism. The results of this study indicate that 66.6% of inmates believe that the presence of family and social networks are crucial. With reference to Hirchie's theory of social control, it is concluded that discouraging situations in which convicts may commit irregularities or crimes in Correctional Institution can be prevented
The Impact of the European Union’s Palm Oil Resolution Policy on the Indonesian Economy Sector
Get PDFIndonesia as the world's largest producer and consumer of palm oil is experiencing considerable challenges due to the enactment of the The European Union (EU) Parliament Resolution on the use of palm oil and on overcoming the issue of deforestation. The Union issued a RED policy aiming at directing the European community to use energy-efficient and emission-free fuels. The regulation comprises a rejection of palm oil and its derivative products. The ban on importing such products imposed by the European Union has caused a decrease in Indonesia's GDP by 1155.28 million Euros. In addition, this impacted the employment sector, particularly the oil palm farmers who experience a decrease in income. Despite the issuance of the European Union policy that prohibit or restrict palm oil import, the EU has dependence on Indonesia’s palm oil since they can not produce the oils on a large scale in order to meet their needs. This is a qualitative study and the data collection technique is the heritage study methods obtained from journal, scientific journals on similar topics. As for the theoretical analyses, the mercantilism approach with the aim to use economic policies to maximize the state’s wealth as a means of political power is implemented
Unveiling the Pathways to Sustainable Lobster Industry Development: A Comprehensive Case Study of Sawarna Village, Banten Province
Get PDFThis research aims to analyze the challenges in implementing sustainable business practices at Lobstamasta, a lobster industry company in Sawarna village, Banten. This research uses a qualitative method approach by interview to analyze the challenges in implementing sustainable business practices at Lobstamasta. The interview method is used to obtain an in-depth understanding of stakeholders, while questionnaires are used to collect large amounts of data. The findings of this research show that there are various main obstacles, including lack of commitment, limited resources, and limited understanding. The implication of this research is the need for corrective measures, such as increasing employee awareness through education, better allocation of financial resources, and strengthening sustainability policies. Close collaboration between government, entrepreneurs and communities is also needed to create an environment that supports and accelerates the process of sustainable lobster cultivation, with a positive impact on the local economy and environment. Implications of this research include: 1) Improved Awareness and Education: Increasing employee awareness and understanding through education and training programs can increase commitment to sustainable practices; 2) Optimizing Financial Resource Allocation: Implementing wiser financial resource allocation strategies to support investments in sustainable technology and equipment; and 3) Government-Entrepreneur-Community Collaboration: Close collaboration between government, entrepreneurs and society is important to create support and implementation of sustainable practices
Integrated Model of Drugs Addictive Client Spirituality Development
Get PDFThis research is motivated by the rise of drug trafficking from the elite to the grassroots, so that many people are trapped and fall into drug addicts. They need recovery and support to rise to normal human beings. So, how is the design of coaching that can touch the physical and mental recovery and spiritual recovery of addicts in recovery. To answer this question, researchers conducted a comparative study at the National Narcotics Rehabilitation Center, Lido with the Suryalaya Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya, West Java. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach, namely the Interactive Analysis and Comparative Analysis models. Extracting the data of this research seeks to reveal and see the development of addicts through the two sides of the Institute by way of interviews, observation and documentation, which are then analyzed, as well as reducing the data to be interpreted and described. The results of the research and writing of this dissertation are expected to give birth to a design model in handling drug addict client development that can touch physical, psychological, mental and spiritual recovery. A design model that integrates medical treatment of medicine and religious therapy which are integrated into a coaching system
The Important Role of Environmental Justice in Supporting Green Schools
Get PDFThe world's awareness of the importance of protecting the earth's environment is proof that nature is seen as an inseparable part of humankind. For this reason, the application of green schools is increasingly being carried out as evidence of the achievement of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). This research is related to the success of Al-Fajar Bekasi Islamic High School in implementing environmental justice in supporting green schools. This research method uses a qualitative phenomenological approach. The research findings show that the environmental justice approach plays a full role in supporting the creation of green schools for the long term. Student behavior that is in accordance with environmental justice, namely equality between humans will support that nature is an important component. Thus, the urgency of a pro-environmental attitude combined with adaptation to environmental justice for sustainable development must be instilled from an early age in public and private schools, so that later the younger generation will become the group that determines the success of environmental development in Indonesia with optimal and credible knowledge, attitudes and skills
The Effect of Sense of Place Towards Social Capital on Millennials in A Semi-Urban City (A Case Study in Padang, West Sumatera - Indonesia)
Get PDFThe millennials, as other generations, has their own characteristics that can be seen from their traits, habits, lifestyle, and nature which due to those attributes can lead to different expectations from others. This research aims to understand and analyse the effect of sense of place towards social capital on millenials in a semi-urban city. The population of this study is the Millennial generation in Padang aged 19 to 38 years with a total population of 425,053 people. The number of samples was determined using the formulation proposed by Slovin (1960), namely 400 respondents from various backgrounds, ages, education, domicile, profession, and income were involved. Based on the result of hypothesis testing, it was found that sense of place has a positive and significant influence towards social capital. This research is expected to carry a positive contribution to the dynamics, issues, and problems of millennials related to sense of place and social capital, especially in a semi-urban city in developing countries

Get PDFThe Indonesian civilization exhibits a profound historical association with and a high level of familiarity with wood as a material, which shaped Indonesia's sociocultural values. However, with the advancement of civilization and the pervasive impact of Western culture, wood has undergone a transformation, becoming a commodity that is predominantly esteemed for its practical usefulness. The significance of wood as a symbol of diplomatic or social rank has diminished throughout time, particularly in the context of palatial environments. Hence, the primary objective of this research is to investigate the influence of sociocultural factors on the inclination of the Indonesian market to adopt the Japandi (Japanese-Scandinavian) style in household goods such as furniture and home accessory design, which is distinguished by its emphasis on minimalistic aesthetics and practicality. In order to reveal these insights, the researchers used the buying intentions theory combined with quantitative explanatory analysis to clarify the observed phenomena and derive conclusions. Data will be gathered via questionnaires employing random sampling, with a focus on the Indonesian market as the target population. The results of the study indicate that social and cultural elements play a significant role in shaping the intention to buy Japandi (Japanese-Scandinavian) home furnishings in Indonesia
Improving Service Quality Through Customer Satisfaction of Type D Hospital : A Phenomenological Approach
Get PDFHealth is very important for all humans because without good health, every human being will find it difficult to carry out their daily activities. Hospitals as one of the health care facilities in general have a very important role in efforts to improve the health status of the Indonesian people. However, until now, there are still many complaints from the public regarding the services obtained from the hospital. This study aims to answer the question of how the quality of service in a type D hospital is, and how is patient satisfaction in this type of hospital. This study uses a phenomenological approach to explore customer’s experience after being a patient in a type D hospital for 2 years. Data collection was carried out by means of in-depth unstructured interviews, in a very fluid atmosphere where the informants could tell their experiences freely. The results showed that the five aspects of service quality, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy, played a very important role in determining patient satisfaction in type D hospitals
Synergity and Community Empowerment in Organic Waste Management in Wringinanom, Gresik
Get PDFThis research aims to examine the processing of organic waste into useful products for the community. Departing from the high volume of organic waste produced (61.97 kg per RT per day) along with bad impacts, the strategy used is the processing of waste followed by the dissemination of processing results by the composter method. This research used is descriptive analytic and participatory rural appraisal (PRA) approach which aims to encourage community participation in program implementation. This research was carried out in Pasinan Lemah Putih Village, Wringinom Subdistrict, Gresik Regency by collaborating with several stakeholders, namely the local village government, community, and implementor/expert/academic team. Data source in the form of narratives resulting from discussions and observations, secondary data, and documentation. The results show that the processing of organic waste can reducing waste volume per day and adverse effects. From an economic perspective (livelihood), processed organic waste is capable of producing 15-20 liters of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) valued at IDR 975,000 to IDR 6,000,000 in one RT per day. From a social and environmental perspective, organic waste processing, which is continued with dissemination, has provided environmental insights and new experiences for all levels of society in Pasinan Lemah Putih Village in the form of improving the quality of life of the community, the spirit of preserving environmental beauty, the spirit of preventing littering, and reducing the adverse effects of waste such as bad smell and disease
Literature Study of Cross-Cultural Size Comparisons Against Personality Traits
Get PDFAfter more than a century of research at the university, personality traits have been fully studied and measured, thanks to the work of many researchers. The Big Five is one of the most popular personality tests. It was created using an ethical approach, which says that personality traits should be measured in the same way in all cultures. But as the effects of different cultures grow and researchers learn more, ethical approaches to measuring personality are increasingly questioned. In anthropological research, emic approaches emphasizing the importance of specific cultural methods have been studied. This method is used to create the Big Six and Big Seven scales below. These measurements have been tested and found to be more accurate and valid for measuring personality traits in the right group of people. So, this study is intended to provide a literature review that summarizes how personality traits are defined, the specific content and development of such measurements using ethical and emic approaches, measurement problems based on relevant research, and several other things to think about.
