THE IMPACT OF ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES ON DEAF STUDENTS' LEARNING

This study explores the role of assistive technologies in the implementation of physically active breaks as an innovative educational tool to support bimodal bilingualism in schools. The proposed approach not only promotes the learning and involvement of deaf students, but also proves to be beneficial for hearing students, promoting a more inclusive and collaborative school environment. The combined use of technology and active breaks allows for the development of broader communication skills, raising awareness of sign language among hearing students and improving their ability to learn in multimodal contexts. This method encourages cooperation between students with different abilities, fostering a more equitable and enriching interaction for everyone. The results show that the combined use of technology and active breaks contributes to more effective and inclusive learning. The implementation of these strategies requires specific training for teachers and investments in accessible digital infrastructure, in order to promote a fair and innovative educational environment

OUTDOOR LEARNING AS A PATHWAY TO INCLUSIVE AND INNOVATIVE PRACTICES IN MIDDLE SCHOOLS

The paper presents a research project aimed at describing how outdoor learning is configured in the Italian context of lower secondary schools, with attention to the promotion of inclusive processes, educational well-being and student motivation. The research, launched in 2023 and co-conducted by Indire, the University of Bologna and the Rete delle Scuole all'Aperto, involved 240 schools belonging to three national networks of schools characterized by a common pedagogical vision centered on outdoor learning and school innovation. The mixed-sequence explanatory research design included a first quantitative phase, followed by a second qualitative phase aimed at deepening the phenomenon initially detected on a large scale

BALANCE AND PLYOMETRIC TRAINING IN VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS: RCT IN A ROMANIAN SCHOOL

Balance without visual stimuli impairs vestibular and proprioceptive integration, leading to instability. Comparative studies show deficits on unstable surfaces, though compensatory mechanisms appear with proprioceptive stimulation or plyometric exercises. This study assessed 36 students with visual impairment after 15 weeks of plyometric training, showing improved stability and reduced postural oscillations

PERCEPTION OF TEACHING ACTION: CHROMATISMS OF SIMPLEXITY

Didactic action is a complex and adaptive process, in which the teacher should consider the students' individual characteristics through diversified methods and non-linear logics. The paper proposes a research design focused on the interconnection between De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats theory and Berthoz’s paradigm of simplexity. It aims to make participants more aware of their way of thinking and acting, thus promoting an inclusive and adaptable education for everyone

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY AND EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES: PATHWAYS OF AWARENESS THROUGH ECOLOGICAL EDUCATION IN NATURE

This paper investigates the pedagogical value of nature-based education as a formative tool capable of promoting ecological awareness, environmental responsibility, and active citizenship. Through an in-depth analysis of outdoor educational contexts and their methodological applications (experiential workshops, school gardens, immersive activities), the study highlights how such practices represent not mere alternatives to traditional teaching, but authentic educational paradigms founded on meaningful relationships between the individual, the environment, and the community.Furthermore, the urgency of integrating environmental education transversally into school curricula is emphasized, through interdisciplinary, participatory approaches rooted in everyday lif

OUTDOOR EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TO STIMULATE CREATIVE THINKING AND INCLUSION IN SCHOOL

A study of 130 middle school students showed that an outdoor physical education program significantly improves creativity, particularly in students with ADHD. The intervention also increased motivation and sense of belonging, confirming this approach's effectiveness in promoting creativity and well-being at school

PROMOTING METACOGNITION IN CLASS. USE OF MODEL ELICITING ACTIVITIES AND REVERSE ENGINEERING IN INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING

The contribution reflects on the need for teacher training to promote metacognitive skills in the classroom. The sample is composed of 110 teachers from the teacher training courses outlined in the DPCM 4/08/2023. We gave them Model-Eliciting Activities whose structural elements had to be identified through reverse engineering. The hypothesis we aim to test is whether collaborative and metacognitive reflection on MEAs could improve teachers' self-regulation and sense of self-efficac

CONTRIBUTION OF TEACHERS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY THROUGH THE E-PORTFOLIO AS A TRANSFORMATIVE TOOL

This paper reflects on the educational potential of the e-portfolio introduced by the Italian Ministry of Education as a tool to support the orientation processes of upper secondary school students. Based on the theoretical premises of the Ef.Ate project, the paper analyzes how the e-portfolio, when integrated into intentional and well-structured educational contexts, can foster individualized, metacognitive, and transformative learning activities (Mezirow, 2003). Particular attention is given to the development of strategic competences, understood as cognitive, emotional, and metacognitive resources for self-determination and self-regulation in learning (Pellerey, 2006). In this perspective, the e-portfolio is conceived as a narrative space where students can recognize and enhance their resources, strategically orient their educational investments, and build a conscious and project-oriented vision of their learning path (Varisco, 2004; Di Stasio et al., 2021; La Rocca, 2020). The contribution also discusses the opportunities offered by the 30 hours assigned to the tutor teacher as a privileged educational space to foster critical reflection and transformative orientation processes

THRESHOLD PEDAGOGY: SENSES AND LIMINAL SPACES FOR TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING

The article outlines a pedagogy of thresholds that frames liminality as an embodied and spatial condition central to transformative learning. By engaging senses, spaces, and slowed temporalities, education fosters generative uncertainty, reflexivity, and care. Principles of design, implications for teacher education, assessment, and policy are discussed, with attention to justice and inclusion, to create environments where transition becomes livable and transformation sustainable

MIND UP - MINDFULNESS AND INTERVALS FOR NURTURING DIRECTED ATTENTION IN UNIVERSITY PERFORMANCE: THE RESULTS OF A PILOT STUDY

The study explores the effect of mindful active breaks—short pauses involving complex movements and body awareness—on the attention levels of university students. Following the intervention, a significant reduction in cognitive interference was observed (p = 0.04), particularly among female students, indicating benefits for inhibitory control. The gap between perceived and actual physical activity highlights the need for greater motor awareness
