Education for Transformation:Humanistic Perspectives on Flourishing in the Anthropocene

    No full text
In a time of planetary crisis, Education for Transformation reimagines humanistic education as a vital response to the ethical, pedagogical, and ecological challenges of the Anthropocene. The authors depart from a relational, ecologically aware and epistemically plural interpretation of humanism. They offer fresh perspectives like ecological mindfulness, planetary interdependence, and critical takes on EdTech that can be used to reflect on ways in which educators can foster responsibility, resilience, and hope. With both moral insight and practical relevance, this book invites the reader to rethink what it means to teach and learn on a fragile, interconnected planet

Emotional responses to potentially traumatic events:An interpretative qualitative analysis of high-risk professionals in relation to their social structures

    No full text
Professionals in emergency-focused environments are taught to prioritize emergencies over their own emotions and trained to suppress their own emotional reactions. High-risk professionals in a vertical social structure, such as police officers, military personnel, career firefighters, and perioperative nurses, also tend to develop an us-versus-them mentality with emotional distance from patients or civilians
