Advances in Flotation of Copper, Lead and Zinc Minerals
This Special Issue, “Advances in Flotation of Copper, Lead and Zinc Minerals,” presents recent developments in the flotation of non-ferrous base metals, addressing the key challenges posed by increasingly complex and lower-grade ores. The ten research contributions compiled here span from the molecular-level design of novel flotation reagents—such as selective collectors and depressants—to the understanding of interfacial mechanisms through advanced analytical and computational tools. Advances in Textile Structural Composites II
This Reprint is a professional collection of research articles published in the Special Issue titled “Advances in Textile Structural Composites II“. It includes eight articles focused on fibre-reinforced composites and their allied applications. The mechanical analysis of such structures was an integral part of most of the articles. The recycling and reuse of textile waste into value-added composite products was significantly reported. A special focus was placed on the utilization of agro- and bio-based waste materials. Computational methods to anlayze and predict the performance of the products was explained. The use of nanoscale fibers, as well as fillers in polymer composite materials, was explored in nonconventional application areas
Methode zur Berücksichtigung von Schwankungen der tribologischen Halbzeugeigenschaften für die umformtechnische Herstellung von Karosseriebauteilen im Serienprozess
In den vergangenen Jahren haben umweltfreundliche Produkte sowie eine nachhaltige Produktion einen zunehmenden Stellenwert in unserer Gesellschaft eingenommen. Demzufolge gilt es, Ausschuss aufgrund von Qualitätsmängeln bei umformtechnisch hergestellten Karosseriebauteilen zu vermeiden. Ursächlich für das Auftreten von Qualitätsmängeln sind unter anderem Schwankungen der Halbzeugeigenschaften, welche den Umformprozess beeinflussen, jedoch bei der Auslegung der Bauteile nur unzureichend berücksichtigt werden. Ein Grund dafür ist, dass insbesondere Schwankungen der Halbzeugeigenschaften, welche die Reibung beeinflussen, bisher nicht ausreichend untersucht sind. Ziel der Arbeit ist es daher, ein durchgängiges Prozessverständnis zu erarbeiten, aus dem sich eine Methode zur Berücksichtigung von Schwankungen der für die Tribologie relevanten Halbzeugeigenschaften für die umformtechnische Herstellung von Karosseriebauteilen im Serienprozess ableitet. Dazu werden zunächst Inline-Messysteme qualifiziert, welche zur Erfassung der Halbzeugeigenschaften am laufenden Band dienen. Im Anschluss an eine Charakterisierung der Schwankungen werden die erarbeiteten Erkenntnisse für numerische Untersuchungen genutzt sowie eine Validierung anhand von Realbauteilen aus dem Serienprozess vorgenommen. Die Untersuchungen zeigen, dass das Reibverhalten im Wesentlichen durch eine inhomogene Schmierstoffverteilung auf der Halbzeugoberfläche beeinflusst wird. Die Berücksichtigung der realen im Serienprozess vorliegenden tribologischen Bedingungen führt demnach zu einer Verbesserung der Vorhersagegenauigkeit in der Umformsimulation
Theoretical Issues on Systems Science
In “Theoretical Issues on Systems Science”, we present theoretical issues including theoretical incompleteness, multiplicity, systems as networks and chaos, game theory, and meta-structures. Other less explored research topics include equivalence and tolerance in systems, pending systems, recurrence and self-reflexivity, remote synchronization, and the significance of using complex numbers in system models. The first group of papers addresses theoretical aspects, including 1) the role of noise in complex systems; 2) the potential of general systems theory to serve as a theory of everything; 3) the drawbacks of applying classical axiomatic deductive mathematical approaches to topics such as control evolution by rewriting DNA “instructions”; 4) the near non-existence of purely "theory-free" approaches and the balance between theoretical and empirical contributions; 5) the neglect in reductionism in that systems acquire properties and the assumption that multiple, variable interactions of complexity can be analytically “zipped”; and 6) tree-based methods for statistical learning, for which the author presents a systems theory-based framework to speed up discrete event system stochastic simulations. The second group of papers examines theoretical aspects within specific fields, including 1) human dynamics; 2) human cognition; 3) complex physiological processes; 4) medicine; 5) chemical organization theory; and 6) psychotherapy
Europa-Italia-Russia: relazioni estere e orizzonti geopolitici
The essays collected in this volume address the foreign relations between European countries and Russia with particular attention to the Italian case and in a broad historical perspective. The contributors have focused on such important themes in contemporary history as: Sergej Sazonov’s foreign policy with reference to the participation of the Tsarist Empire in the First World War (G. Bianchi); the recognition of the USSR by the Italian Fascist government in 1924 (M.T. Giusti); Italy and the USSR during the Cold War (A. Varsori); Italy's growing energy dependence on Russian gas during the 1970s and 1980s (S. Labbate); the bilateral relations between Italy and two countries of the Soviet Bloc - Poland and Czechoslovakia - in the decade 1978-87 (T. Forcellese); the relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation during the period of the third Delors Commission (B. Zaccaria); Germany and Russia from the German reunification to today (F. Scarano); the troubled trajectory of the Russian-Abkhaz relations from the incorporation of Abkhazia into the Tsarist Empire (1810) to the present day (G. Savino); the dynamics of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war and the possible prospects for peace (F. Bettanin). In the final contribution, G. Cigliano discusses the use of the category of "empire" as a tool for interpretating both Tsarist and Soviet history and the current politics of the Russian Federation.PublishedLo studio delle relazioni estere tra i paesi europei e la Russia è affrontato in questo volume con particolare attenzione al caso italiano e in una prospettiva storica di ampio respiro. Gene Mining and Germplasm Innovation for the Important Traits in Rice
Rice is one of the major crops and feeds half of the population worldwide. Diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, or viruses seriously affect rice yield and quality. Breeding new resistant rice varieties is the simplest and most effective management for diseases.In recent years, rice has been recognized as a genetic model for molecular biology research aimed toward understanding mechanisms of disease resistance. Up until now, great progress has been made in the molecular genetics of rice disease resistance. Over 150 QTLs associated with rice disease resistance have been identified and more than 50 resistance genes have been cloned. This Special Issue of IJMS aims to highlight the following areas: Screening and improvement of rice-disease-resistant germplasms; Breeding of disease-resistant rice cultivars; Methods of inoculation and rating investigation; Mapping and cloning of resistance genes; Molecular genetics analysis of resistance (such as GWASs); Molecular biology research on resistance; Mechanisms of rice–pathogen interaction

The study examines the state control over images of public cultural heritage, unique in Europe for its strictness, which creates a form of “pseudo-copyright” limiting creative use, even for public domain works. The protection of decorum, not foreseen by the Codice dei beni culturali e del paesaggio(Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code), has often justified forms of prior censorship. The possibility of using open licenses, including for commercial purposes, fully compatible with current regulations, is presented. The suggested model overcomes the concessional system, promoting free access, heritage enhancement, and the protection of freedom of expression

Valerius Herberger als Theologe des 17. Jahrhunderts und Pfarrer Fraustadts ist der Forschung zwar grundsätzlich gut bekannt, eine umfassende Bearbeitung hat er jedoch bisher nicht erfahren. Mit einem Fokus auf die Passionsfrömmigkeit, die sein Werk durchzieht, widmet sich Benedikt Bauer dem Kirchenlied „Valet will ich dir geben“, den Leichenpredigten und dem „Passionszeiger“ des Valerius Herberger. Auf der Grundlage von Überlegungen zu Affekten und Passionsfrömmigkeit in der Kommunikation des frühneuzeitlichen Luthertums sowie lokalgeschichtlichen Spezifizierungen geht der Autor dem Themenkomplex um Trauer, Tod und Passion nach. Dabei gestaltet sich die Passionsfrömmigkeit nicht nur als ein Verarbeitungsmuster epidemischer Situationen und der eigenen Mortalität sowie als Teil einer ars moriendi und ars (bene) vivendi, sondern kann als Zentrum von Valerius Herbergers Theologie bestimmt und als vitales und essentielles Element des frühneuzeitlichen Luthertums benannt werden
