Get PDFThis paper analyses and discusses the basic demographic problems of Poland in the recent years. The decreasing number of Poles is the result of a rapid decline in the total fertility rate of Polish women and the emigration of mostly young people to West European and other countries in search of work and better conditions for living Those highly negative phenomena accelerate the process of ageing of Poland’s popula-tion which has the grave consequences to further socio-economic develop-ment of this country. Some solutions of those problems were discussed and assessed in the second part of this paper with special emphasis on the recent demographic policy carried out in Poland.Artykuł zawiera analizę i ocenę podstawowych problemów demografi cznych Polski w okresie ostatnich kilku lat. Zmniejszająca się liczba ludności Polski jest efektem gwałtownego spadku dzietności polskich kobiet w wieku rozrodczym oraz emigracji głównie ludzi młodych do krajów zachodnich w poszukiwaniu pracy i lepszych warunków życia. Get PDFThe research problem brought up by the author of the pre-sent article is the activity vs passivity of citizens of mass culture in the widely understood context. The technological progress, globalizational processes, the unifi cation and creation of needs, the appearance of new media, a bias in favour of success and prestige, the broadely defi neded consumerism are only a few of the factors which contribute to break off the relationships with space and time. They cause, inter alia, the standardization of transmissions and distorting reality. These pheno-mena are an inherent part of the mass culture, its positive and negative implications in the public sphere.
Problemem badawczym poruszanym przez autorkę niniejszego artykułu jest aktywność vs bierność obywateli w kontekście szeroko rozumianej kultury masowej. Postęp technologiczny, procesy globalizacyjne, ujednolicenie i kreowanie potrzeb, pojawienie się nowych mediów, nastawienie na sukces i prestiż, szeroko pojęty konsumpcjonizm to tylko nieliczne z czynników, które przyczyniają się do zerwania związków z przestrzenią i czasem. Get PDFThe report contains the original article (and its translation to Polish), which was featured in the French medical publication “Journal General de Medicine, de Chirurgie et de Pharmacie” in 1809. It was written by the Napoleonie Army doctor Joseph Bourges (bomin 1776 or 1777-diedin 1851), who in 1806-1808 was responsible for organization of medical service in Bydgoszcz. His interests were going beyond the problems related to military hospitals. He leamed about the history of the city and preferences of its residents. He left descriptions of daily life in the wartime city, described diseases affecting not only soldiers, but also local residents. An interesting article written by this French physician describes the history of Bydgoszcz during the times of the Duchy of Warsaw.W tekście zawarty został oryginalny tekst artykułu (i jego tłumaczenie na język polski), który ukazał się we francuskim czasopiśmie medycznym „Journal General de Medicine, de Chirurgie et de Pharmacie” w 1809 r. Get PDFIn the 41st Bydgoszcz Chronicie released in 2020, readers had an opportunity to get acąuainted with an interesting article by Krzysztof Błażejewski “Two worlds. Clash of cultures, Pomeranian society and the Polish Army in 1920.” The author, based on operational reports of govemors, county heads and police commissioners, described the unexceptionable, morally reprehensible and freąuently criminal behavior of Polish officers and soldiers who were taking over the land given based on the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. This article analyzes commentaries published in Pomeranian and Wielkopolska newspapers in the first months of 1920. A quite different picture emerges out of them. As a result of threats directed by military men to newspaper offices, activities of censors and interventions of officials, information on the conduct of demoralized army men was not depicted in local newspapers. They printed only panegyrics and articles praising Polish soldiers and the joy of the Poles who regained freedom after 148 years of annexation. W Kronice Bydgoskiej XLI w roku 2020 czytelnik miał okazję zapoznać się z interesującym artykułem Krzysztofa Błażejewskiego „Dwa światy. Zderzenie kulturowe. Społeczeństwo pomorskie wobec wojska polskiego w 1920 roku”. Autor, na podstawie meldunków operacyjnych wojewodów, starostów i komendantów policji, zobrazował naganne, niemoralne, często przestępcze, postępowanie polskich oficerów i żołnierzy przejmujących ziemie przyznane Polsce na mocy traktatu wersalskiego w roku 1919. W niniejszym artykule dokonano analizy treści publikowanych w prasie pomorskiej i wielkopolskiej w pierwszych miesiącach 1920 roku. Wyłania się z nich obraz całkowicie odmienny od rzeczywistego. W efekcie gróźb kierowanych przez wojskowych do redakcji gazet, działań cenzorów i ingerencji urzędników, informacje o postępkach zdemoralizowanego wojska na łamy gazet nie trafiały. Znalazły się w nich jedynie panegiryki i teksty sławiące polski oręż oraz opisujące radość Polaków z odzyskania wolności po 148 latach zaborów
Macrosystemic and individual sources shaping culture. Reflections on the problem and their pedagogical implications
Get PDFW prezentowanym tekście dokonano analizy i pedagogicznej interpretacji dwóch wymiarów ujęcia źródeł kulturotwórczych: makrosystemowego i indywidualnego. W pierwszym wymiarze mieszczą się procesy i zjawiska destabilizujące życie społeczno-kulturowe. To ujęcie źródeł kulturotwórczych można odnaleźć w niektórych wątkach refleksji Andrzeja Wiercińskiego, Rogera Caillois, Mieczysława Porębskiego, Victora Turnera oraz Józefa Kozieleckiego. Ucieleśnieniem źródeł kulturotwórczych w wymiarze indywidualnym jest jednostka i jej potencjał do realizowania się w roli twórcy kultury. Do tego ujęcia źródeł kulturotwórczych nawiązywali, wskazując niektóre cechy potencjalnych twórców kultury, przedstawiciele polskiej pedagogiki kultury: Zygmunt Mysłakowski, Bogdan Suchodolski, Florian Znaniecki oraz dwaj autorzy: Tadeusz Paleczny i Piotr Koprowski, którzy w swoich tekstach przedstawili bardziej szczegółowy opis cech jednostki predysponowanej do tego, by być twórcą kultury. W próbie pedagogicznej interpretacji obydwu ujęć źródeł kulturotwórczych uzasadniono sens jej powiązania z pewnymi aspektami egzystencjalnego ukierunkowania edukacji wzmacniającej rolę samowychowania w pokonywaniu drogi do twórczego uczestnictwa w kulturze. In the presented text, an analysis and pedagogical interpretation of two dimensions of the approach to culture-forming sources was made: the macrosystemic and the individual. The first dimension includes processes and phenomena destabilizing the socio-cultural life. This approach to culture-forming sources can be found in some threads of the reflections of Andrzej Wierciński, Roger Caillois, Mieczysław Porebski, Victor Turner and Józef Kozielecki. The embodiment of culture-creating sources in the individual dimension is the individual and his potential to fulfill himself as the creator of culture. Representatives of the Polish pedagogy of culture: Zygmunt Mysłakowski, Bogdan Suchodolski, Florian Znaniecki and two authors: Tadeusz Paleczny and Piotr Koprowski, in their texts presented a more detailed description of the features of an individual predisposed to this to be the creator of culture. In the pedagogical interpretation of both approaches to culture-creating sources, reference was made to the existential orientation of education that strengthens the role of self-education in overcoming the path to creative participation in culture

Zawarte rozważania traktować można jako głos o odzyskanie potencjału humanistycznego w nurcie badań nad kulturą popularną. Autor poprzez nawiązanie do nurtu badań krytycznych nad dyskursem (KAD) zmierza do uchwycenia aktualnego wciąż w pedagogice dialogu nad znaczeniem tekstów popkultury jako naturalnego milieau młodego pokolenia oraz sporu o wartość tego typu tekstów jako głównego nośnika tożsamościowego we współczesnej kulturze płynności. Tekst stanowi pretekst do podjęcia tematu w bardziej wyczerpujący sposób.Presented text inspiring with the reapprasial of value of popculture texts, espacially its dominant medium as film. Considerations should be treated as a voice to reapraise humanistic potential in the stream of research upon pop culture. The author in connection to critical discourse analysis tends towards grasping actuality of dialog in pedagogical disocurse upon the value of pop cultural texts as natural milieau of young generations and also the discussion upon the value of these texts as the identity construction platform in the liquide culture. Using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery in the analysis of forest cover changes following the storm of 2017 – case study of the Przymuszewo Forest Inspectorate in Poland

In 2017, from the 11th to 12th of August, a storm passed causing catastrophic damage in general and to forest resources in particular. The study aims to determine the feasibility of using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and other GIS tools and techniques for estimating forest damage caused by the storm in the Przymuszewo Forest Inspectorate. The analysis of forest cover changes was performed using the NDVI and BI2 index as well as unsupervised classification predicated on satellite imagery obtained before and after the storm. It was calculated that a total of 2,048.1 hectares of forest was damaged based on the NDVI index and 1,661.7 hectares based on the unattended classification, whereas the area of agricultural and and non-forest land based on the BI2 index was 1,739.1 hectares. These figures are comparable to the records of post-storm losses from the Przymuszewo Forest Inspectorate. This indicates a considerable feasibility of Sentinel-2 satellite imagery in assessing damage caused by extreme phenomena (strong winds) in forest areas, which is true both on a regional and global scale owing to the wide range of imaging (up to 290 km).
