EFFECTS OF USING KNOWLEDGE OF CHEMICAL CONCEPTS ON COSMETOLOGY PRODUCTION AS PATHWAYS FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS, AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA
Fermentation process is one of chemical concept that can be demonstrated inform of practical teaching and a necessities for average chemistry students to partake in it. This could have directed their minds towards entrepreneurship development after school that is capable of reducing unemployment, poverty and other social crimes within the society. This study was therefore set out to determine the effect of cosmetology on chemistry students regarding the use of knowledge of chemical concepts as pathway to entrepreneurial skills development. The study is empirical and adopted descriptive survey and quasi experimental research design using multi-stage sampling procedure. The populations were all science student in the public secondary school in Kwara state and the sample consist of 110 SSII science students. Three instruments were used they are Chemistry student Achievement Test (CAT) and Students Awareness and Interest of the use of Knowledge of Chemical Concept in cosmetology as pathways for Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition using Questionnaire with Linkert scale. A pilot test was conduct among 20 non participants and the reliability coefficient of 0.82, 0.83 and 0.72 using Cronbach Alpha formula. Research questions were answered using means standard deviation while research hypotheses were tested at p = 0.05 using t-test. The results showed that there is significant difference in the performance and the achievement of student at p = 0.05). The study concluded that the use of knowledge of chemistry concepts had effect on entrepreneurial skills and achievement on secondary school students as pathways for entrepreneurship skill development in Kwara State. The study therefore recommended that there is an urgent need for the government and education stakeholders to develop a comprehensive framework to see how entrepreneurship skills acquisition could be part of core course in the chemistry school curriculum; teacher should see chemistry teaching beyond the classroom situation and the government should ready be to give adequate financial support in the realization of the objective
AN UNCHARTED NEXUS: TRANSFORMING POTENTIAL OF CRYPTOCURRENCY ON NIGERIA'S ECONOMIC LANDSCAPE
This research study explores the transformative potential of cryptocurrency on the economy of Nigeria. Cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin and ethereum, offer several advantages over traditional financial systems, including faster and more secure transactions, increased transparency, and the potential for financial inclusivity. Nigeria, with its large unbanked population and reliance on remittances, presents a suitable environment for cryptocurrency adoption. However, there are challenges to overcome, such as regulatory uncertainties and technological infrastructure limitations. The study aims to investigate the opportunities, challenges, risks, and benefits associated with cryptocurrency adoption in Nigeria. It evaluates the potential impact on financial inclusion, remittances, monetary policy, economic growth, and decentralized finance. By conducting a comprehensive review of existing literature and examining global case studies, the research provides valuable insights into the current state of cryptocurrency adoption in Nigeria. Findings of the study highlight the need for clear regulatory frameworks, enhanced cyber security measures, and collaboration between government agencies, regulators, and industry stakeholders. It emphasizes the importance of addressing challenges and risks while maximizing the benefits of cryptocurrency adoption. The research contributes to informed discussions and provides policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders with recommendations to guide their decision[1]making processes, ultimately fostering sustainable economic growth in Nigeria
THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURIAL RISK-TAKING AND PROFIT MAKING AMONG MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN NIGER STATE
Entrepreneurial risk-taking is an important factor in business success, and there is a growing body of research on the relationship between risk-taking and profit-making in micro, small, and medium enterprises. The relationship between risk-taking ability and profit-making among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Niger State was explored in this study. A survey research design was adopted, and data was collected from the population sample size of 400 MSMEs in Niger State using a standardized questionnaire. The findings revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between risk-taking and profitability (R = 0.998a, p < 0.05). That is, risk-taking explained approximately 99.6% of the variations in the level of profitability. This study concluded that moderate risk-taking and profit-making are key factors in achieving higher operational performance among micro, small, and medium enterprises. It was recommended that micro, small, and medium enterprise owners in Niger State prioritize risk-taking within a moderate range, as doing so can help them achieve higher profits and remain competitive in the long term
IMPLICATIONS OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PRACTICES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES: CASE STUDY OF KADUNA MUNICIPAL
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has explored from the standpoint of large corporations and developed economies, smaller businesses and developing economies have received attention. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) continue to be the backbone of economy, significantly accounting for a major share in economic value creation. This implies that, the contribution of SMEs in achieving sustainable development is therefore critical. However, because it is voluntary and there are no binding laws, it is easy for companies, particularly SMEs, to ignore CSR. The study seeks to add to the limited literature by investigating the implication of socially responsible behavior on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria. A well-structured questionnaire was administered to 63 Nigerian SMEs in Kaduna. The study adopted a structural equation model using PLS-SEM to analyze data. Findings show a significant relationship between corporate social responsibility and the three determinants of firm performance (management efficiency, profit maximization and corporate reputation)
IGBO APPRENTICESHIP SYSTEM AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
Apprenticeship and skill acquisition have been proven to be a useful and reliable tool for business development and entrepreneurial performance.Apprenticeship in this study focused on Igbo context of skill acquisition and business development. Thus, apprenticeship in term of Igbo context is a system or process through which an apprentice, usually a young person, is admitted by a master craftsman for the sole purpose of acquiring and mastering a craft or trade for a stipulated period of time, after which the apprentice is provided with adequate support to establish his own business. This study examines the Igbo apprenticeship system and its effects on skill acquisition, business growth and entrepreneurial performance. The study adopted a cross-sectional case study of business owners in Ariaria, Aba business cluster. The sample size of the study is 306 small scale business owners in Ariaria, Aba. Data was analyzed using SPSS 21 version. Pearson moment correlation coefficient was adopted in testing hypotheses. The result indicates that apprenticeship programme was effective in helping the apprentices to acquire more skills and knowledge. The findings also suggest that skill acquisition through apprenticeship can guarantee efficiency and effectiveness, which leads to business growth and increase in performance among the entrepreneurs
PERSONALITY TRAITS AND GROUP PERFORMANCE IN A NIGERIAN MANUFACTURING FIRM: A STUDY OF WAHUM GROUP OF COMPANIES, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA
The study aimed to examine the effect of employee personality traits on group performance among employees of West Africa Household Utilities Manufacturing Company (WAHUM) Nigeria Ltd. Lagos State. The target population comprises of workforce of the firm. Data was obtained from 290 employees chosen at random from WAHUM Group of companies. Questionnaire was adopted to collect data from respondents. Descriptive statistics was used to provide the demographic characteristics of respondents, and hypotheses were tested using regression analysis. Employee conscientiousness (β = 0.421; t = 5.611; P<.05) and employee extroversion (β = 0.585; t = 6.702; P><.05), The study hereby concluded that employee conscientiousness and extroversion as personalities traits significantly affect the level of group performance in the organization studied. Therefore, the paper recommends that the management of WAHUM group of companies should see conscientiousness and extrovertist individuals as an avenue to attain improved group performance and holistic organizational goals
THE ROLE AND CHALLENGES OF VESTIBULAR SCHOLARS ON THE USE OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ICT
Teaching and Learning are no more depend on the bookish authority of the teacher as the two activities go beyond class room instruction. ICT has turn the whole world into a small community where by one can sit in any corner of his/her personal room and deliver or receive lecture through various means like E-Learning, E-Teaching, group charting conference discussion, zooming and many others. The purpose of this paper is to assess the challenges of Vestibular Scholars in the era of ICT using survey method of analysis. Vestibular Schools in Zamfara state are purposively selected for the study. Through Researcher’s developed questionnaire the data collected are analyzed to answer the research questions generated and hypothesis posted using average weighted mean and chi square at 0.07 significant level. It is discovering that some Vestibular Scholars in Zamfara lack passion for using ICT tools, lack adequate skill to use ICT tools, faced inadequate supply of ICT tools, power failure among others. Based on the findings, the paper recommends motivation, workshop for Vestibular Scholars on ICT, adequate supply of ICT tools to mention but a few for the effectiveness in discharging their responsibility towards qualify education and the paper concluded that urgent step should be taking to improve effectiveness of Vestibular Scholars in this era of digitalization as it will improve their capacity in the application of entrepreneurial skills
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION: THE ROLE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION
Entrepreneurship education programme has been implemented in all Nigerian higher institutions due to graduates persistent problem of unemployment, yet the unemployment rate is at increase and the main cause factors are not evidently identified. Hence, the objective of this study is to examine the moderating roll of entrepreneurship education on personality traits and entrepreneurial intention of university students. Survey research design was employed in the study. The data were collected from a sample of 484 out of a population of 23,502 students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Bayero University Kano and Usman Danfodio University Sokoto respectively. The data collected were analysed using PLS-SEM version 3. The result of the study revealed that, perceived need for achievement, perceived locus of control and perceived risk propensity have positive and significant relationship on entrepreneurial intention. While perceived self[1]efficacy and perceived entrepreneurial creativity have insignificant direct relationship with entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurship education was found to moderate the relationship between perceived locus of control, perceived creativity, perceived self[1]efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. Meanwhile, entrepreneurship education failed to moderate the relationship between perceived risk propensity and entrepreneurial intention. However, the study concludes that, inorder to increase students’ intention, they need to be exposed into how they can identify their personal level of achievement and properly guided on how to apply it into real entrepreneurial action. Thus, the study recommends that universities should provide enabling environment where students can be assessed in order to fishout the direction of their individual thinking
PHYTOCOSMETIC PRODUCT (SKIN CREAM) DEVELOPMENT FROM TERMINALIA CATAPPA L. SEED OIL: VALUE ADDITION FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL SUSTAINABILITY
Seed oils have an important role in providing greener cosmetics that are skin and eco[1]friendly. Designed and developed strategy to explore and utilize full benefits of these cosmetic products from plant oils needs to be exploited. This research was aimed to carry out physicochemical analysis and formulate skin cream using seed oil extracted from Terminalia catappa L. Seed Oil. Extraction of oil was done by soxhlet using n-hexane. The physical and chemical characteristics revealed the following: Color of the oil was light yellow, liquid at room temperature, Oil yield was 40.70 (%), saponification value 284.50 (mgKOH/g), Iodine value , 102.30 (g I2/100g), acid value 3 .60 (mgKOH/g) and Free fatty acid 1. 48 (% w/w).. The physiochemical analysis result of the iodine value of seed oil showed that it is semi drying and could be used in production of skin cream
MEDIATING EFFECT OF EMPLOYEES’ COMMITMENT ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOCIAL AWARENESS AND EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE IN TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES IN KADUNA STATE
The study aimed at investigation the mediating effect of employees' commitment on the relationship between social-awareness and employees' performance in the telecommunication companies in Kaduna State. Proportionate stratified sampling was used to select the sample size of 416 employees for the study. The study was cross[1]sectional and data was obtained from primary source and used PLS SEM to analyse the data. The findings of the study revealed that social awareness has a positive effect om employee performance, social awareness has a positive effect on employee commitment. Also, employee commitment has a positive effect on employee performance. The results further revealed that employees’ commitment has a mediating effect on the relationship between social-awareness and employee performance. To enhance social-awareness, the study recommended that organizations should implement training programs, coaching, and include social-awareness in performance evaluations. Employee commitment is an important factor which can be improved through commitment-focused initiatives, performance management in order to promote social-awareness and improve employee performance
