THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS IN THE PROMOTION OF CORPORATE BRAND IMAGE AND REPUTATION IN NIGERIA
There is a notion that getting to adopt a new idea no matter the obvious advantages is often difficult and this has played out sometimes in the Nigerian corporate landscape, apparently owing to the dominant orientation of public institutions and the lack of basic and relevant infrastructure. This has contributed to the slow pace of development in the country. With the pervasive influence of social media globally, it became necessary to interrogate the relevance, role and effectiveness of social media platforms in the promotion of corporate communication, identity and status in Nigeria. This was contemplated because of the critical role communication plays in the life of organizations and society. The work was anchored on two related theories: the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Media Dependency Theory (MDT). An in-depth interview approach was adopted for data gathering. The targets were key experts with hands-on experience in the corporate communications arena, including public affairs managers, journalism practitioners, ICT experts and business development consultants. The tool employed was an open-ended questionnaire with follow-up telephone interviews. Findings point to the absolute necessity of social media and its various platforms in promoting corporate communication and building the identity and image of organizations in Nigeria, using the right strategies. Despite its shortcomings, which include believability challenges, there was a consensus on the need for organizations to embrace the social media regime if they have to remain relevant and meet their objectives.

Life expectancy is a major yardstick for measuring the level of development of countries in modern times. Soldiers and their families were also among those who wanted to attain maximum life expectancy. Health insurance is a gateway to achieving better life expectancy in this modern world. The objective of this study is to assess the health insurance policy challenges for families of soldiers who died in active service. The expectancy theory of motivation was adopted as the theoretical frame. The study targeted widows and orphans of soldiers in Niger state. The respondents were served a questionnaire. The staff of the accredited hospital with a facility by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) were interviewed to provide health care services insurance information. The sample size for the questionnaire was 135 calculated from 60,047 widows and orphans of soldiers. 120 questionnaires were returned and analyzed. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 23. Frequency tables and simple percentages were generated and analyzed. The time boundary is from 2017 to 2022. Proper implementation of health insurance policy would serve as motivation for soldiers to give their best to the service of their fatherland
CLIMATE CHANGE AND CONFLICT IN NORTHEAST NIGERIA
This paper examines the influence of climate change on the conflict in Northeast Nigeria, exploring the complex interplay between environmental stressors, socio-economic impacts, and political instability. It highlights the importance of addressing the climate-conflict nexus by presenting a comprehensive approach to sustainable peace and development. Employing a literature review methodology, the research analyses climate change in the region, focusing on temperature increase, changing precipitation patterns, and desertification and how these environmental challenges exacerbate socio-economic problems such as agriculture and food security, livelihoods, and public health. The paper then identifies climate change as a catalyst for conflict, underlining factors such as resource competition, displacement, and migration. Strategies to address the climate-conflict nexus are explored, including climate change adaptation and mitigation, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and integrated policy and planning. Ultimately, the paper stresses the need for a comprehensive approach to foster resilience, promote social cohesion, and enhance stability in Northeast Nigeria

CREATING A PATHWAY FOR JOBS IN NIGERIA: THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES
This study investigates how women's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria can create jobs and boost the economy. It explores the factors that motivate women to start and run their businesses and the challenges they encounter in the process. The study uses a qualitative research design and secondary sources of data, such as books, journals, reports, and websites. The study also applies Kirzner’s (1999) theory of competition to analyse the data. The study reveals that women entrepreneurs are influenced by their talents, reasons, and values, but they also face difficulties, such as poor infrastructure, lack of security, and low incentives. The study concludes that the government should improve the infrastructural facilities, protect the women's development centres, and provide incentives and motivation for women entrepreneurs. The study contributes to the literature on women's entrepreneurship and job creation in Nigeri
CAMPAIGN RHETORIC AND THE QUEST FOR POWER IN 2015, 2019 AND 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN NIGERIA
Persuading voters is the essence of a political campaign. In an attempt to achieve their political objectives while undercutting the influence of opponents, Nigerian politicians strategically deploy manipulative rhetoric in political discourse and communication. This paper engages the presidential campaign rhetoric in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, particularly the 2015, 2019 and 2023 general elections. It undertakes an analysis of the leading presidential candidates during these elections, based on three indicators: the identity of the leading candidates, their health status and national security considerations. The paper contends that, while it is uncertain the exact impact of campaign rhetoric on the outcome of elections given the enduring role of factors such as ethnicity, religion, region and money in Nigerian politics, the negative and vile campaign rhetoric most often set the tone for violence witnessed before, during and after elections
DE-RADICALIZATION AND RE-INTEGRATION OF BOKO HARAM COMBATANTS: QUESTIONS OF NATIONAL SECURITY
The Nigerian government has made coordinated military efforts to eradicate insurgency and terrorism in the country, but despite the support of various foreign counterparts, it has had little progress. The government has recently made further efforts through Operation Safe Corridor to try a non-military approach to complement the military campaigns by de-radicalizing the Boko Haram combatants and re-integrate them into society. Therefore, this study examined the achievement of this method and the risks that come with it. The study is premised on the structural violence theory. The research adopted a survey research design and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for analyzing the data. The study populations include 100 purposely selected male and female repentants of the Boko Haram sect who are undergoing de-radicalization programs. The entire population constituted the sample size study and a well-structured questionnaire was adopted as the research instrument. The findings show that de-radicalization assists these Boko Haram members who were forcefully conscripted into the group. However, there is neither an agreement nor disagreement as to whether the de-radicalization program can bring an end to the insurgency. The findings also showed that government does not provide adequate social and economic enablement for the repentants to be responsible members of society. Similarly, there is no adequate follow-up by the government on the progress of repentants on social reintegration. The study recommended the need for the government to follow up on the progress of de-radicalized repentant Boko Haram as they re-integrated back into society. The study is of the conclusion that, even though Nigeria has adopted de-radicalization as a strategy in combination with military action, issues are impeding the implementation
IMPACT OF OIL REVENUE ON THE WELL-BEING IN NIGERIA: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM NONLINEAR-AUTO REGRESSIVE DISTRIBUTED LAG (NARDL)
The study aims to interrogate the dynamic effect of oil revenue on the well-being of Nigerians using data from 1980 to 2020 in conjunction with linear and non–linear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) approach. This study will add empirically to the discourse by exploring other indicators of economic well-being such as per capita consumption, which previous studies have not used extensively. The objective is to check the long and short-run relationships and the asymmetrical effects between the decomposed variables. Simple linear ARDL is applied for the symmetrical effect and non-linear Autoregressive distributed lag NARDL is applied to check the asymmetrical effect. The findings indicated the existence of asymmetrical linkages between oil revenue and well-being in Nigeria. As a result, the study suggested that the government ought to diversify the economy to form alternative sources of revenue as well as to embark on aggressive infrastructural development which would improve the well-being of Nigerians and the policy that will encourage equitable distribution of income
