    Foll owing  Hali ' s  era,   among  t he  contemporaries  of  iqbal  t hepoet,s  who  have  brought  revolutionary  changes  in  Urdu  poetry,Mir  Ghulam  Bheek  Nairang  is  a  prominent  name.  Mir  Nairangwas  one  of  the  few  people  of  our  literary  and  national  historywho  devoted  his  whole  life  for  academic,  literary,  political  andnational  cause  and  activit ies.  Owing  t o  t he  very  fact,  he  le ftgreat impression on our national and literary history. Among thepeers  of  Iqbal,  Nairang  was  an  ambitious  and  optimistic  poet.Interaction  with  Iqbal  and  an  exposure  of  Iqbal's  poetic  geniusbestowed  Nairan,s  poetry  with  a  novel  spirit  and  poetic  sense.Nai r a n g' s   Ur d u   Gh a za l   is   p a r t i c ula r l y  r e c o gn i z e d   f o r   i tssimplicity,  extempore  expression  and  aesthetic  pleasure.  Iqbal'spoetic   influence  is   prominently  felt  in   the  underlying  poeticsense and quite visible in the expression of Nairang's poetry

    Sha n u l   Ha q   Ha q q e e   wa s   a   r ema r kab l e   Ur d u   l e x i c o gr a p h er,translator  and  linguist.  He  won  accolades  for  his  seminal  work  onUrdu  linguistics.  He  has  more  than  35  books  to  his  credit,  out  ofwhich  about   a   d o zen   a re   o n   lexi c o g raph y,   translatio n   andtheoretical   issues  of  Urdu  linguist ics.  Published  by  t he  OxfordUniversity  Press,  his  English-Urdu  dictionary  has  been  regarded  asa  reliable  reference  for  over  one  and  a  half  decades.  Likewise,  hisUrdu  di ct ionary  Farhang  e  Talaf fuz ,  published  by  the  NationalLanguage  Promotion  Department  (formerly  known  as  the  NationalLanguage  Authority),  is  counted  among  the  finest  works  in  Urdulexicography.     Annemarie Schimmel was a renowned Orientalist of current century.  She  wrote  extensively  on  topics  related  to Islam, especially  Sufism.  Iqbal  Studies  remained  her  passion throughout her life. She translated most of Iqbal’sworks into German language. She produced a number of articles besides eleven  books  on  Iqbal.  Her  most  celebrated  book  on  Iqbal was Gabriel’s Wingwhich won her fame in the Iqbal loving circles.  Being  one  of  the  best  books  to  understand  Iqbal’s thoughts, it has been translated into Urdu as well.  Gabriel’s Wing  has  also  attracted  criticism  from  some  Iqbal  scholars who pointed out some weaknesses in the book. Anyhow, on the whole the book is a comprehensive work and a veritable addition  to  the  Iqbal  Studies.This  article  is  a  study  of Annemarie  Schimmel’s  literary  services  with  specialreference to Allama Iqbal

    Ajmal Kamal has been publishing a renowned quarterly literaryjournal 'Aaj' from Karachi since 1989. The journal is celebrated forits translations of fiction from English, Arabic, French, Hindi,Persian  and  German.  'Aaj'  has  also  given  a  vital  movement  to  aconsiderably  new  genre  of  Urdu  poetry  named  as  "Nasri  Nazm"and introduced the great literary works of poets like Afzal HussainSyed, Zeeshan Sahil and Azra Abbas in this regard.  Besides, verynotable, well written and significant literary criticism has also beenpublished in 'Aaj'.
