Maria Vodă Căpușan exégète de Mircea Eliade et du mythe théâtral
Get PDFThe paper presents the contributions of Maria Vodă Căpușan in establishing the relationship between theatre and the other works of Mircea Eliade. The author underlines the importance of theatre which is seen not only as a minor preoccupation of an author famous for his contributions in the philosophy of religions, but also as an important part of her work being recognized in other domains. The author reaches the conclusion that without theatre we cannot understand the profound structure of the whole vision of Mircea Eliade.The paper presents the contributions of Maria Vodă Căpușan in establishing the relationship between theatre and the other works of Mircea Eliade. La déconstruction théâtrale chez Ionesco
Get PDFEugène Ionesco makes his appearance in the second half of the 20th century’s dramaturgy with a series of infractions that upset the idea of literature and theatre. Whilst working on the stereotypes of those two domains, he violates theatrical conventions in his first plays, making impossible any kind of contract with the reader/spectator and upsetting their expectations. Therefore, first he shocks his audience and then he conquers it, when the reader/spectator’s perplexity is superseded by the lesson of the absurd. Ionesco and his fellow playwrights – Samuel Beckett, Arthur Adamov, Jean Genet – give deep meanings to the absurd (or in other terms, the lack of sense) and give a literary aspect to the philosophical concept in order to convert it into a theatrical movement. I will study three plays in particular – The Bald Soprano, The Lesson and The Chairs – given the fact that they embody the type of deconstruction made by Ionesco in his art’s construction. Get PDFColonial and postcolonial African dramaturgy was influenced by the politics of the society in which they were created. They reflected the political upheavals, corruption, socio‐political decadence and laxity portrayed by political leaders. In fact, these dramas such as the works of the radical Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Wole Soyinka, Femi Osofisan, Bode Sowande, Sam Ukala, and Benedict Binebai amongst others were/are political constructs. However, one postmodern dramaturge who has fully explored the social and the political in his works in theory and praxis, is AbdulRasheed Adeoye. The authenticity of his theatre does not only stem from the political consciousness of his creative works, but also, his crystallization of a dramatic theory, he termed Neoalienation theory. How unique is this theory, and how relevant are the themes and content of his works to the political situation of present‐day Nigeria? To this end, this study critically investigates the poetics of politics in the dramaturgy of AbdulRasheed Adeoye. It further examines Adeoye’s neoalienation theory, in consonance with Bertolt Brecht’s Epic Theatre, and the political configurations of Adeoye’s dramaturgy

Get PDFThis paper aims to present part of an archive research that is being made in Brazil and France that has the purpose of understanding and analyzing the musical popular theater genre called operetta, in order to establish a critical revaluation of the genre. This genre was considered, by theater theoretical studies, during a long time, inferior when compared to dramas and comedies. However, nowadays exists a critical revision in Brazil that seeks to change that point of view. The historical research is a crucial part of this revaluation. For this paper, we place emphasis in the operetta La petite mariée (1875) (“The little married girl”) written by Eugéne Leterrier and Albert Vanloo. The material collected about the French operetta demonstrates how complex and refined the production of these shows was. Besides reviews, we found drawings of the scenes, posters and the manuscript of the director’s notebook. These materials are precious to the new critical appointments that this research aims to achieve, because they suggest that the quality of those pieces where as challenging as other better evaluated theater genres
