Comparative study of artificial Neural Network and Kalman Filter models for blood demand forecasting at PMI Surabaya

    Get PDF
Blood plays a vital role in human health, making the need for donors and transfusions crucial. Currently, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Surabaya faces a balance issue between blood supply and demand. To address this, a blood demand forecasting model has been created at the PMI using ANN with a 4% error rate. The Kalman Filter algorithm is known to significantly reduce prediction errors from the prediction and correction process, while an ANN is considered capable of handling data complexity and nonlinearity. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the performance of the ANN and Kalman Filter models and compare the model performance results to determine the model with the best performance level. The modelling uses the CRISP-DM method, which starts from data understanding, data preparation, data modelling, model evaluation, and forecasting. The results of this study indicate that the Kalman Filter model successfully minimizes errors compared to the ANN prediction results, achieving a model accuracy level reaching 93.1%. These results demonstrate that the Kalman Filter model can significantly reduce prediction errors in the prediction and correction process, making it more optimal than the ANN model in forecasting blood demand at the PMI in Surabaya

Meteorite falls in Indonesia are rarely examined through systematic scientific analysis, resulting in limited documentation of fall events and incomplete classification of recovered specimens. The Punggur meteorite fall of 28 January 2021 reportedly produced at least five fragments. This study addresses that gap by analyzing two fragments (PM-01 and PM-02) to confirm their extraterrestrial origin and to characterize their physical, chemical, and mineralogical properties. Physical characterization involved measurements of density, magnetic susceptibility, and surface morphology. The chemical composition was determined using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), while microscopic imaging was employed to compare fusion-crust features with interior textures. A web-based meteoroid-impact modeling tool was further employed to estimate the atmospheric entry behavior and environmental effects of the fall. The result is that PM-01 has dimensions of 13 × 6.5 × 8 cm, a volume of 419 mL, a mass of 2200 g, and a density of 5.25 ± 0.26 g/cm³. PM-02 measures 25 × 23 × 16 cm, with a volume of 443 mL, a mass of 1820 g, and a density of 4.06 ± 0.06 g cm⁻³. Modeling results indicate that post-airburst fragments retained a residual velocity of approximately 16.2 km s⁻¹, while the airburst released an estimated 2.12 × 10¹⁰ J of energy (0.51 × 10⁻⁵ megatons). The shock wave reached observers 1.78 minutes after the event, accompanied by a maximum wind velocity of 0.0422 m s⁻¹ and sound levels near 25 dB—consistent with witness reports and the observed impact crater. Microscopic and XRF analyses reveal coarse-grained textures with high concentrations of Fe, Si, and Mg. PM-01 contains 23.55% Fe, 20.18% Si, and 12.48% Mg, whereas PM-02 contains 48.09% Fe, 25.06% Si, and 10.21% Mg. Thus, this finding indicates that the specimen’s mineralogy is dominated by olivine ((Mg, Fe)₂SiO₄), confirming that it aligns with the classification of an H7 melt breccia

    Get PDF
Male ulama have significantly influenced the feminist movement in Indonesia by providing religious interpretations that are attuned to women's experiences and actively addressing injustices faced by women. This research delves into the transformative journeys of four male ulama as they adopted pro-feminist stances and engaged with the feminist movement. Utilizing a phenomenological approach and in-depth interviews for data collection, the study focuses on how these ulama promote gender justice and embrace feminist principles. The findings reveal that the journey to pro-feminism for these ulama involves multiple phases: recognizing sensitizing events, cultivating feminist consciousness, reinforcing feminist values, and taking tangible actions against women's injustices. In their advocacy for gender justice, these ulama have crafted a methodology for interpreting religious texts that centers women's experiences as crucial to understanding faith. This interpretative approach not only supports a gender-just mindset but also seeks to integrate gender justice principles into daily practices. Ultimately, the study illustrates the essential roles male ulama play in fostering a pro-feminist environment and encouraging societal change regarding gender issues in Indonesia

    Get PDF
Obesity is an overnutrition problem that has not yet received special attention from the government or society. Adolescents are easily influenced by their peers. Providing balanced nutrition education to adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Singosari using the peer education method is expected to improve nutritional knowledge, enhance dietary patterns, and reduce the overweight adolescents' body mass index (BMI). A screening was conducted among tenth-grade students, identifying 60 students with a BMI ≥25.1 kg/m². The instruments included a nutritional knowledge questionnaire, Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) to assess dietary patterns, weight and height measurements to determine BMI. The results showed an increase in knowledge scores; however, it was not statistically significant (p-value = 0.106). There was a significant effect on the reduction of adolescents' BMI (p-value = 0.023). Dietary patterns showed improvement in average daily intake, frequency of consumption, and food preparation methods, although the intake of plant-based proteins, vegetables, and fruits remained below the Balanced Nutrition Guidelines. The results of this study imply that balanced nutrition education using the peer tutor method can be an effective approach to reduce BMI and encourage healthier eating patterns in obesity adolescents

One of the most prevalent health problems in Indonesia is anemia, particularly among adolescent girls, where concerns about excessive weight gain may reduce adherence to iron supplementation. Spirulina is a potential alternative supplement rich in iron and nutrients that support hematopoiesis and may address these concerns. This study aimed to analyze the effect of spirulina supplementation on body weight in anemic adolescent female Wistar rats. This experimental study used 25 female Wistar rats divided into five groups: normal control (NC) received a standard BR diet, positive control (PC) received a low-iron diet to induce anemia, and three treatment groups received spirulina at doses of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg body weight (T1–T3) for 21 days. Body weight was measured before anemia induction, after anemia induction, and following supplementation. The results showed a significant overall difference in body weight gain among the groups (p < 0.001), which was mainly driven by differences between the normal control and positive control groups. However, post hoc analysis indicated no significant differences in body weight gain between the positive control group and treatment groups 1, 2, and 3 (p > 0.05). Body weight in the treatment groups increased by 22.8–27 g, indicating recovery toward baseline values. Although these differences were not statistically significant, spirulina supplementation may contribute to anemia recovery, as reflected by improvements in body weight. In conclusion, spirulina shows potential as a nutritional supplementation strategy that does not induce excessive weight gain while supporting iron-related nutritional needs

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of interference and intervention in Arabic writing learning within an Islamic boarding school context. Conducted longitudinally over three years with 24 students at Al-Izzah Integrated Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) in Batu City, this research employed a descriptive qualitative approach under the frameworks of Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) and Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). Data were collected through classroom observations, students’ writing analysis, and in-depth interviews with Arabic teachers. The findings reveal that linguistic interference is not merely a structural error but rather a manifestation of the developmental nature of learners’ interlanguage systems. Pedagogical interventions such as authentic writing tasks, cultural scaffolding, and reflective mentoring were proven effective in reducing syntactic, semantic, and orthographic interference. The study highlights that language learning is a dialectical interaction among linguistic, psychological, and cultural factors. Theoretically, this research reinforces the Dynamic Theory of Interference–Intervention (DTII) as a comprehensive framework for foreign language education, while practically emphasizing the importance of developmental and metalinguistic awareness-based instructional strategies
