Religious Challenges and Guidance for Dayak Muslim Converts in the Indonesia–Malaysia Border Region
Religious conversion in border areas often triggers complex identity negotiations and social tension, particularly for indigenous communities like the Dayak people. In Jagoi Village, located at the Indonesia–Malaysia border, many Dayak individuals who convert to Islam face cultural, social, and spiritual challenges due to their minority status and the persistence of traditional customs. This study aims to identify the religious issues encountered by Dayak Muslim converts and evaluate the strategies of religious guidance based on religious moderation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations involving religious counselors and local converts. The findings reveal four major problems: limited Islamic knowledge, minimal religious mentoring, poor access to digital Islamic resources, and a lack of understanding of religious moderation. This research contributes to the discourse on minority religious identity and offers policy recommendations for inclusive, culturally sensitive religious mentoring. It also supports the design of empowerment models for Muslim converts in border areas, which can serve as a reference for interreligious engagement and social integration efforts in Southeast Asia's plural societies
Leveraging social media as avenues for da'wah among Muslim youths in Nigeria
This paper reviews the usage and impact of social media in the society and how they can be leveraged for da'wah by youths in Nigeria. It explores the various meanings, uses and impacts of social media; and identified some of the advantages and disadvantages of social media on people and societies. The paper further examined literature and empirical data from scholars on da’wah, social media, and the usage of social media for da'wah and other Islamic propagation. Data revealed that social media have been used effectively for da'wah but can also be used to disseminate messages of dissent. However, this paper argues that since a significant portion of Nigeria’s population are Muslims and youths constitute the major users of social media; leveraging social media platforms for da'wah can be an effective way for Muslims youths to fulfil their religious duty by sharing Islamic teachings and values with others; reach wide audience and help in correcting misconception about Islam and Muslims. Hence, this paper clarified concepts, identified best practices, and contributed to a deeper understanding of Islamic communication in the age of digital media, particularly by providing insights and strategies on developing da’wah initiatives using different social media platforms.

EVALUATION OF PHOSPHOMOLYBDENUM AND FERRIC REDUCING ANTIOXIDANT POWER ASSAYS IN EXTRACT COMBINATIONS OF MANGIFERA INDICA AND EUPHORBIA HIRTA
Combining plant extracts at lower doses may enhance antioxidant effects through synergy. This study investigated the antioxidant capacity of combined Mangifera indica and Euphorbia hirta leaf extracts using metal ion-reducing power assays. The extracts were prepared via maceration with 70% ethanol. Phytochemical profiling was conducted through preliminary screening tests. Antioxidant capacity was assessed spectrophotometrically using the phosphomolybdenum and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. The phosphomolybdenum assay involved incubation of the extracts with reagent at 95°C for 90 minutes, while the FRAP assay was conducted at 37°C for 15 minutes. Extract combinations were prepared in the ratios of 1:3, 1:1, and 3:1. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids, steroids, and terpenoids in both extracts. In the phosphomolybdenum assay, the Mo(VI) reducing power of M. indica extract (29.154±0.664 mg AAE/g extract) was higher than that of E. hirta (27.948±0.667 mg AAE/g extract). Similarly, in the FRAP assay, the ferric reducing power of M. indica extract (55.304±1.284 mg AAE/g extract) exceeded that of E. hirta (48.009±1.873 mg AAE/g extract). The highest reducing powers were observed in Comb. 3, yielding 30.745±0.715 mg AAE/g extract (phosphomolybdenum) and 57.190±1.431 mg AAE/g extract (FRAP). Among the three combinations tested, only the 3:1 ratio demonstrated a synergistic antioxidant effect in both assays
Project-Based Learning in Creating Edible Straws from Red Dragon Fruit Peel to Develop Science Process Skills
This study aimed to analyze the implementation of project-based worksheets utilizing red dragon fruit peel waste (Hylocereus polyrhizus) to develop students’ science process skills (SPS). The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study design, conducted at a vocational high school in Cimahi City, involving 31 senior high school students from Class XI Industrial Chemistry-C. The research instruments consisted of student activity observation sheets, project-based worksheets, and SPS performance sheets. The results showed an average student activity score of 95%, a cognitive SPS score of 90%, and a psychomotor SPS score of 96%, all categorized as “excellent.” Hence, the project-based worksheet on producing edible straws from red dragon fruit peel waste was proven to be highly feasible and effective in developing students’ SPS
