    Get PDF
The Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) sector has a significant impact on the expansion of the Indian economy. On April 2, 1990, the Indian government formed the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to fulfil the financial, development, and promotion requirements of the MSMEs sector. The SIDBI acts as a nodal organisation, facilitator, and accelerator for the expansion of MSMEs. Secondary sources were used in the research. The majority of the information was taken from the SIDBI Annual Reports. According to the report, the majority of performance ratios and indicators have an upward trend and a positive growth rate, which shows how effectively SIDBI has performed. The bank will undoubtedly achieve new heights in the MSMEs sector over the ensuing years

Removal of COD and Ammoniacal-Nitrogen from Industrial Wastewater using Adsorption with Plantain Husk Adsorbent

    Get PDF
The rate of depletion of ground/surface water has increased due to the weakness in the existing laws, contamination of the ground water and excess usage of water that produce increased quantity of wastewater. In this study, wastewater from Dangote Fertilizer Limited (DFL) was treated using adsorption method of treatment with consideration of the factors (pH, temperature and contact time) that impedes the efficiency of the method. Plantain husk, which is an agricultural waste, was used as adsorbent in the adsorption process. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used to determine the experimental number of runs after which it gives the optimum conditions of those parameters considered. The plantain husk was characterized using Gas chromatograph with Flame Ionization detector (GC-FID). The results obtained in the study revealed that utilization of the plantain husk as adsorbent in adsorption process for the removal of COD and Ammoniacal nitrogen from industrial wastewater will yield a high percentage removal (values). Ammoniacal nitrogen removal with plantain husk adsorbent was about 93% maximum and as pH increased to 7.5 (alkaline), a slight decrease in the Ammoniacal nitrogen removal percentage to about 92% could be attained. Furthermore, percentage removal of COD from the wastewater of about 83% maximum could be obtained. Effect of temperature on COD removal is a direct correlation as increase in temperature could lead to the decrease in COD removal. It can be concluded that the interaction between contact time and pH as compared to other interactions has an overall positive effect in the adsorption process of Ammoniacal nitrogen removal from wastewater. Being an agricultural waste and environmentally friendly materials, adsorbent from plantain husk should be considered for treatment of industrial waste water for removal of COD and ammoniacal nitrogen

Food is a vital need for all human beings. But in the current society, many people cannot afford or fulfill their daily food requirements. Many people want to help people who are in hunger, but the problem is there isn’t a good and trustworthy platform to get information and connect the donator and the receiver that is available for Sri Lanka. The application\u27s main purpose is to bring together individuals who have excess assets and liabilities and are eager to give back to the community to help those who are in need and willing to accept help and also provides a platform to post about those in need of food and other related things. Another advantage of this system is that it allows organizations to create funds within the system and raise funds for their charitable projects related to food insecurity and improving agriculture. The system always tries to avoid fake and fraudulent donations and requests by asking the approval of the admins. It also helps in improving the reliability and the trustworthiness of the users of the system. For an example organizations need to be verified by the admin to use the system. Also, each fundraiser program created by the registered organization will be reviewed by the admin before publish it in the system

A Computerized System to Solve Difficulties in Finding Medicines under the Medicine Shortages in Sri Lanka

    Get PDF
Due to ongoing financial crisis in Sri Lanka, patients are starting to suffer from medicine shortages at an increasing rate. Patients are having to go to multiple pharmacies to find certain medicines which could result in health complications. Although e-pharmacy platforms provide the functionality to order medicines by uploading the prescription sheet, they do not provide alternatives on where to find the medicines that are not available in the pharmacy. This research introduces a new functionality to provide patients suggestion on where exactly to find missing medicines. This is found through checking the stock availability of the medicine in other pharmacies in sorted order with respect to the delivery location of the patient taken via Google map API to make the process much more efficient and practical. This is achieved by implementing a global identifier for each medicine where all pharmacies keep the records of the medicines in reference to the defined global identifier of that medicine. In addition to that, the system allows patients to view all the pharmacies nearest to their delivery location and give the freedom to place orders to whichever pharmacy they prefer. If a medicine is not available in the pharmacy which the order was placed for, the system will give suggestions to the patient on where exactly to buy the medicine

The economic crisis has made huge impacts on people’s lives to the extent that certain daily tasks no longer feel normal, like pumping fuel from a fuel station. Mental and health conditions of people are deteriorating due to these types of issues which must immediately be addressed. This paper discusses about a proposed fuel management system to eliminate or at least reduce this unnecessary hassle for the public and fuel stations also illustrating and discussing the available systems for the same. New innovative features have been proposed to this system respective to the system already in use which is believed that it will vastly help in managing fuel more efficiently for both distribution and pumping. We also believe that the data collected through the system will also be very useful in making prediction models for the government as well, to make certain decisions. Another aim of this system is eliminating the black market for fuel which has been created putting more pressure on people and the government by a complaint management feature and tracking fraudulent fuel stations using a formula which has been proposed. Thus, we hope this system will aid both for the government and the public for an efficient fuel management
