The article unravels the issue of the supposed occurrence of a narrow-range species Alopecurus laguriformis Schur ex Griseb. & Schenk in Ukraine. The study shows that this information originated from Zapałowicz’s (1889, 1906) publications based on wrongly determined specimens of A. pratensis. Revision of literature and herbarium data as well as field surveys indicate that in fact A. laguriformis does not occur in the Ukrainian part of the Carpathians and its range is limited to Romania. Confusion in the circumscription of the species is clarified and its historical background is described. The name Alopecurus laguriformis is lectotypified here from the specimen stored at GOET. Because the species’ name was first mentioned by Shur (1850) as a nomen nudum, while its protologue was provided by Grisebach & Schenk (1852), the correct citation for the taxon is Alopecurus laguriformis Schur ex Griseb. & Schenk or Alopecurus pratensis L. subsp. laguriformis (Schur ex Griseb. & Schenk) Tzvelev depending on the taxonomic treatment. Recognition of the species’ rank for that alpine taxon appears more reasonable because of its morphological distinctiveness.</p

Two fancy spines and a collar: a taxonomic review of the myrmecomorphic spider genus Mazax O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1898 (Araneae: Corinnidae: Castianeirinae) in South America
The South American species of the myrmecomorphic spider genus Mazax O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1898 (Castianeirinae, Corinnidae) are revised for the first time, increasing the number of known species from South America from two to six and the number of species in the genus from seven to 11. Here, we reevaluate the identity of Apochinomma acanthaspis Simon, 1896, propose its transfer to Mazax, and consider M. akephaloi Perger & Pett, 2022 as a junior synonym of M. acanthaspis comb. nov. Additional documentation of M. ramirezi Rubio & Danişman, 2014 is provided. The species M. pax Reiskind, 1969 and M. spinosa (Simon, 1898) are recorded from South America for the first time. Three new species are proposed, all based on both sexes: Mazax mokana sp. nov. and M. leonidas sp. nov. from Colombia, and M. tembe sp. nov. from Brazil. Emended diagnoses of the genus and of all six known South American species, as well as a key to males and females for all 11 species in the genus, are provided.</p
A new genus and species of Cicadellini (Insecta: Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Cicadellinae) from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest
The remarkable sharpshooter Prodigiella silvanoi gen. et sp. nov. is described and illustrated (including the external form, color, male and female terminalia) from the Atlantic Forest of southern and southeastern Brazil (states of Paraná and Rio de Janeiro). The new genus can be distinguished from other Neotropical genera of the Cicadellini by a combination of various morphological features, including an asymmetrical aedeagus with a bifid shaft and peculiar basal and apical processes and ovipositor valvula II distinctly expanded beyond basal curvature, its dorsal margin with 35–40 teeth, and ventral margin without preapical prominence. A discussion comparing Prodigiella with superficially similar taxa of the genera Macugonalia Young, 1977, Ruppeliana Young, 1977, and Versigonalia Young, 1977 is provided. The discovery of this peculiar new genus indicates that much collecting work in the remaining parts of the Atlantic Forest is clearly and urgently needed. The remarkable sharpshooter Prodigiella silvanoi gen. et sp. nov. is described and illustrated (including the external form, color, male and female terminalia) from the Atlantic Forest of southern and southeastern Brazil (states of Paraná and Rio de Janeiro).
