    How social media marketing activities affect consumer equity: A study in culinary brand with brand equity as a mediating factor

    This study aims to find out how social media marketing activities influence consumer equity through brand equity in a culinary brand. The study sample is men and women, 200 respondents, within the age range of 18 to 30 years old This study uses quantitative methods and questionnaires as data collections tools. The data was then analyzed using SmartPLS with the Structural Equation Modelling approach. It is found that social media marketing activities positively influence consumer equity through brand equity in culinary brands. Customer equity is also indirectly affected by brand equity. Therefore, this research can be a basis for future research in social media marketing activities within the scope of culinary brands especially in the context of small-medium enterprises

    Business diversification of coal mining companies as a strategy facing coal price volatility: The effect on company performance and share prices

    This study aims to determine the effect of business diversification on stock prices by mediating company performance, represented by the variable ROE and EPS in a fluctuating coal price situation. The data used are 16 companies engaged in coal mining in Indonesia and listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2012 to 2019. Using two analysis methods: path analysis to examine direct and indirect relationships between variables and different tests to see differences in the performance of companies that diversify and do not diversify. The results showed that coal commodity prices had a significant positive effect on stock prices and indirectly, through ROE and EPS, had a significant positive impact on stock prices. Business diversification directly has a significant negative impact on stock prices and indirectly through EPS positively affects stock prices. Business diversification provides a substantial difference to EPS and does not provide a significant difference to ROE

    Assessing financial risk management in local governments : Case of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)

    The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the financial risks local governments are exposed to within the scope of financial risk management practices. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) was selected for this study because it is the largest local government with the highest budget. In the study, the development of financial risk performance of IMM between the years 2008-2018 was examined in the light of the risks IMM is exposed to. The main results regarding the risks faced by IMM during the period are as follows: Financial data obtained from the financial statements of IMM were used to examine the performance of listed risks& effects they have on the budget of IMM. The results indicate that (i) risk of dependence on shares from the central budget revenue; (ii) IMM was directly dependent on the central budget in terms of revenues, so in this period, the risk of dependency was high in terms of counterparty risk

    This paper through a systematic literature review portrays the academic work that has been done in disaster management by applying multi-criteria decision making. This study reviews 36 academic articles that applied multi-criteria decision-making planning and management of natural disasters i.e. tsunami, floods, heavy rains, earthquake, land sliding, epidemic, pandemic, etc. This study finds out that lack of effective planning and management pre and post disasters is causing loss of human life, temporary migration of locals to safer places, loss of properties, and economic losses. Once the crisis is over, it requires efforts and additional finances to bring life to normal. There are regions where disasters are periodic such as floods in rivers or due to monsoon season. But with effective planning and pre-determined priorities, loss to human life can be mitigated. Disaster management departments need effective planning tools to forecast imminent disasters and prepare accordingly. This study is very relevant to the recent global pandemic COVID-19 that has caused human and economic losses and will leave footprints for the coming years and generation

    The evaluation of common contemporary occupational accident models using two accident investigations

    The purpose of this paper is to compare three contemporary accident causation models, namely the Swiss Cheese, HFACS, and Fu (2018) Model-based on two accidents existing in the literature. The accidents reviewed are a mine explosion accident and an electrical plant accident. In this way, the validity of the models can be evaluated and weaknesses and strengths revealed. This study discussed the advantages and possible limitations of these models, and according to this discussion, all these models include human and organizational factors and have been found scientific and systematic. According to the results, Fu (2018) and HFACS are more modern, since they were developed based on Swiss Cheese.     The cost performance analysis in public hospitals union: DEA by the comparison of training research hospitals and oral centers

    The escalating competitiveness within the healthcare industry and the growing financial burden necessitate public hospitals, which serve as crucial entities in this sector, to enhance the efficiency of their resource utilization. Public hospitals are mandated to determine their levels of activity, utilize cases of inactivity as benchmarks, and formulate strategies to ensure their active engagement. This study focuses on doing a performance and cost analysis of health institutions affiliated with the Turkish Republic Ministry of Health, namely the public hospitals in the Bakirköy area of Istanbul. The evaluation of activity and productivity is practiced to assess the performance and cost-effectiveness of these institutions. According to the data enveloping analysis method, it is evident that approximately 80% of health institutions affiliated with the Istanbul Bakirköy district public hospitals Union general secretary are fully operational and efficient. However, 20% of these institutions face challenges in effectively utilizing their resources. It is well acknowledged that teaching and research hospitals exhibit high levels of productivity and activity since they effectively utilize their resources in a sensible manner
