    Customer Satisfaction in Online Shopping in Growing Markets: An Empirical Study

    The aim of this study is to examine the factors affecting customer satisfaction in online shopping. The conceptual model for this study was developed based on the previous research in the online shopping context. In this research, ten hypotheses on factors affecting customer satisfaction in online shopping are outlined with empirical data from 337 respondents. Data was collected through a Google form. The regression results show that customer service, information quality, response time, transaction capability, delivery, merchandise attributes, security/privacy, convenient payment method, and price have significant positive influence on customer satisfaction in online shopping. From a managerial viewpoint, this study results provide support for investment decisions for customer satisfaction from online retailers in Malaysia

    Agent Banking and Financial Inclusion: The Case of Bangladesh

    Access to financial services has always been limited in Bangladesh. The need for financial inclusion has thus largely surfaced in the country. As a result, agent banking services were implemented via an inclusive digital financial program across rural and unbanked areas of Bangladesh. Despite having a significant impact upon financial inclusion across developing countries, literature in this realm lacks in-depth investigations on agent banking and its impact on financial inclusion. This study thus aims to represent the overall aspect of agent banking and its association with financial inclusion in the setting of the developing country of Bangladesh. For this research, a case study approach has been employed. The study highlights that agent banking is an effective and credible way of entrenching financial deepening across the unbanked areas of Bangladesh. Moreover, the study emphasizes that agent banking can secure access to financial services for the rural poor and generate wholesome development for Bangladesh

    A Novel Hybrid Approach for Chronic Disease Classification

    A two-phase diagnostic framework based on hybrid classification for the diagnosis of chronic disease is proposed. In the first phase, feature selection via ReliefF method and feature extraction via PCA method are incorporated. In the second phase, efficient optimization of SVM parameters via grid search method is performed. The proposed hybrid classification approach is then tested with seven popular chronic disease datasets using a cross-validation method. Experiments are then conducted to evaluate the presented classification method vis-à-vis four other existing classifiers that are applied on the same chronic disease datasets. Results show that the presented approach reduces approximately 40% of the extraneous and surplus features with substantial reduction in the execution time for mining all datasets, achieving the highest classification accuracy of 98.5%. It is concluded that with the presented approach, excellent classification accuracy is achieved for each chronic disease dataset while irrelevant and redundant features may be eliminated, thereby substantially reducing the diagnostic complexity and resulting computational time

    A Hierarchical Stratagem for Classification of String Instrument

    Automatic recognition of instrument types from an audio signal is a challenging and a promising research topic. It is challenging as there has been work performed in this domain and because of its applications in the music industry. Different broad categories of instruments like strings, woodwinds, etc., have already been identified. Very few works have been done for the sub-categorization of different categories of instruments. Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) is a frequently used acoustic feature. In this work, a hierarchical scheme is proposed to classify string instruments without using MFCC-based features. Chroma reflects the strength of notes in a Western 12-note scale. Chroma-based features are able to differentiate from the different broad categories of string instruments in the first level. The identity of an instrument can be traced through the sound envelope produced by a note which bears a certain pitch. Pitch-based features have been considered to further sub-classify string instruments in the second level. To classify, a neural network, k-NN, Naïve Bayes' and Support Vector Machine have been used

    Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) have gained increased popularity as their innovative uses continue to expand across various fields. Despite their numerous beneficial uses, drones have unfortunately been misused, through many reported cases, to launch illegal and sometimes criminal activities that pose direct threats to individuals, organizations, public safety and national security. These threats have recently led law enforcement agencies and digital forensic investigators to pay special attention to the forensic aspects of drones. This important research topic, however, remains underexplored. This study aims to further explore drone forensics in terms of challenges, forensic investigation procedures and experimental results through a forensic investigation study performed on a Parrot AR drone 2.0. In this study, the authors present new insights on drone forensics in terms of forensic approaches, access to drone's digital containers and the retrieval of key information that can assist digital forensic investigators establish ownership, recuperate flight data and gain access to media files

    The Application of Systems Engineering to Project Management: A Review of Their Relationship

    This study investigated the application of systems engineering to project management. There is an increasing complexity to modern projects, and lifecycle-focused project management displays the inability to manage the risks associated with increased project complexity. A more adequate approach to these issues is presented in the systems engineering processes. It was proposed that the application of systems engineering concepts will allow improve the management of complex projects and the mitigation of risks. Additionally, qualitative research conducted via the collection and analysis of credible information yielded data that supported this proposition. Since systems engineering processes are adaptable, they are suited to manage complex problems. It was concluded that applying systems engineering to project management was beneficial, and the integration of methodologies was valuable to the successful completion of large scale, complex projects

    E-applications for Managing Trans-Logistics Activities in Sugar Supply Chain in North India

    This study identifies various issues in managing transportation logistics activities on the basis of literature review and expert panel discussions so that the facilitation of e-applications can be used for managing transportation logistics activities. A field survey was conducted for checking the relevance level on a five-point Likert scale. A total of 198 responses were obtained from taken from mill managers, distributors, IT companies and large-size sugar consuming companies (LSSCC) to check the scope of e-applications for the issues in both structured and unstructured ways. With these respondents, the suitability of e-applications was checked for the issues related to transportation management activities. The study results are statistically significant and correlated to each other which help in facilitating e-applications. The study also provides some suggestive e-solutions with respect to different transportation logistics management activities with certain implications

    Ethics of Retailers and Consumer Behavior in E-Commerce: Context of Developing Country With Roles of Trust and Commitment

    In the era of the information-communication technology with the development of electronic commerce, consumers can buy almost everything anywhere and at any time. One of the greatest benefits of e-commerce has been the convenience and the vast choices which consumers get online. However, some serious issues exist that impede consumers from transaction online. These issues have attracted the attention of many marketing researchers in recent years. In this research, the authors focus on the impact of consumers' ethics perception of e-retailer on their purchase intention and satisfaction. The authors also try to clarify the roles of trust and commitment in the relationship of ethics on consumers purchase decision and satisfaction because of their importance in e-commerce but also the privation in the research of previous studies. The data collected from a survey of 390 online consumers in Vietnam. Results reveal that there are significant relationships between online retailers' ethics and consumers' purchase intention and satisfaction via the mediation of trust and commitment

    A Simulated Annealing Based Centre of Mass (SAC) Approach for Mesh Routers Placement in Rural Areas

    The problem of node placement in a rural wireless mesh network (RWMN) consists of determining router placement which minimizes the number of routers while providing good coverage of the area of interest. This problem is NP-hard with a factorial complexity. This article introduces a new approach, called the simulated annealing-based centre of mass (SAC) for solving this placement problem. The intent of this approach is to improve the robustness and the quality of solution, and to minimize the convergence time of a simulated annealing (SA) approach in solving the same problem in small and large scale. SAC is compared to the centre of mass (CM) and simulated annealing (SA) approaches. The performances of these algorithms were evaluated on a set of 24 instances. The experimental results show that the SAC approach provides the best robustness and solution quality, while decreasing by half the convergence time of the SA algorithm

    Exploring Learner Perception, Experience and Motivation of Using a Mobile App in L2 Vocabulary Acquisition

    In recent years, the widespread growth of mobile-assisted language learning using apps has made English vocabulary learning increasingly accessible. This study investigated students' perceptions of a vocabulary learning app developed by the researcher as a tool to help them to improve their L2 receptive vocabulary. The app, containing 20 levels, works with both iOS and Android. The participants were 14 undergraduate students at an English-medium university in Hong Kong. A qualitative methodology of semi-structured interviews captured a holistic overview and revealed students' perceptions of the app. The results suggested that Hong Kong university students have a strong motivation for acquiring an L2 vocabulary. Participants also indicated a preference for mobile applications using gamified features. The study highlights directions for future research into apps for English language learning
