A Service Architecture Using Machine Learning to Contextualize Anomaly Detection
This article introduces a service that helps provide context and an explanation for the outlier score given to any network flow record selected by the analyst. The authors propose a service architecture for the delivery of contextual information related to network flow records. The service constructs a set of contexts for the record using features including the host addresses, the application in use and the time of the event. For each context the service will find the nearest neighbors of the record, analyze the feature distributions and run the set through an ensemble of unsupervised outlier detection algorithms. By viewing the records in shifting perspectives one can get a better understanding as to which ways the record can be considered an anomaly. To take advantage of the power of visualizations the authors demonstrate an example implementation of the proposed service architecture using a linked visualization dashboard that can be used to compare the outputs
A Contingent Approach to Facilitating Conflict Resolution in Software Development Outsourcing Projects
With the wide spread of IT outsourcing, internal IT personnel have been required to change their roles from system development to organizational change agents such as securing software development outsourcing (SDO) success. Conflict resolution is critical to secure the SDO success, but the understanding of how IT personnel facilitate conflict resolution as change agents is limited. The purpose of this study is to understand the negative impact of conflicts on SDO outcomes and to investigate the moderating effect of IT personnel's conflict resolution facilitation (process facilitation, content facilitation) between conflicts and two SDO outcome dimensions (project efficiency and system effectiveness). In order to test the model, data was collected through a cross-sectional field survey using questionnaires, and a total of 144 SDO projects were used in the final analysis. Research results show that conflicts have a negative impact on both of the SDO outcome dimensions, and the effect of conflict resolution facilitation by IT personnel is contingent on the dimensions of SDO outcomes
Generalized Ordered Weighted Simplified Neutrosophic Cosine Similarity Measure for Multiple Attribute Group Decision Making
The paper proposes a generalized ordered weighted simplified neutrosophic cosine similarity (GOWSNCS) measure by combining the cosine similarity measure of simplified neutrosophic sets (SNSs) with the generalized ordered weighted averaging (GOWA) operator and investigates its properties and special cases. Then, the author develops a simplified neutrosophic group decision-making method based on the GOWSNCS measure to handle multiple attribute group decision-making problems with simplified neutrosophic information. The prominent characteristics of the GOWSNCS measure are that it not only is a generalization of the cosine similarity measure but also considers the associated weights for attributes and decision makers in the aggregation of the cosine similarity measures of SNSs to alleviate the influence of unduly large or small similarities in the process of information aggregation. Finally, an illustrative example of investment alternatives is provided to demonstrate the application and effectiveness of the developed approach
Factors Affecting the Use of ICT Services in Ethiopia: The Case of Illubabor Zone - Oromia Regional State
ICT is used to enhance the overall activities of individuals, administrative processes of businesses and various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Despite its advantage in all aspects of development, it has drawn low attention in expanding the services in general and utilizing the technology in particular. Therefore, this study was aimed to explore the main factors that affected the usage of ICT in Illubabor zone, Ethiopia. A descriptive cross-sectional study design with quantitative and qualitative data collection method was carried out. The data was collected from 195 samples by using structured questionnaires and observations by employing simple random and purposive sampling techniques. SPSS version 16 was used for data analysis. The study confirmed that lack of computer skill training for staff and lack of sufficient budget for the provision of ICT are the major bottlenecks in expanding ICT service in the zone. Major emphasis should be given in enhancing the awareness of government employees to make use of ICT services in their daily official work
Vocal Acoustic Analysis: ANN Versos SVM in Classification of Dysphonic Voices and Vocal Cords Paralysis
Vocal acoustic analysis is becoming a useful tool for the classification and recognition of laryngological pathologies. This technique enables a non-invasive and low-cost assessment of voice disorders, allowing a more efficient, fast, and objective diagnosis. In this work, ANN and SVM were experimented on to classify between dysphonic/control and vocal cord paralysis/control. A vector was made up of 4 jitter parameters, 4 shimmer parameters, and a harmonic to noise ratio (HNR), determined from 3 different vowels at 3 different tones, with a total of 81 features. Variable selection and dimension reduction techniques such as hierarchical clustering, multilinear regression analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) was applied. The classification between dysphonic and control was made with an accuracy of 100% for female and male groups with ANN and SVM. For the classification between vocal cords paralysis and control an accuracy of 78,9% was achieved for female group with SVM, and 81,8% for the male group with ANN
Effect of User Involvement in Supply Chain Cloud Innovation: A Game Theoretical Model and Analysis
Cloud innovation has become increasingly important to supply chain innovation and performance. User involvement is a crucial part of cloud innovation. However, the effect of user involvement in supply chain cloud innovation has not been thoroughly studied, particularly its effect on product cost and optimal price. In this paper, the authors attempted to bridge this major gap in the literature. The authors reviewed the relevant literature to define cloud innovation and user involvement in supply chain cloud innovation. Then the authors developed a game model based on the Bertrand model. Analysis of the model showed that user involvement affects product cost and optimal pricing in an interesting way. The authors also presented a real-life example of how user innovation takes place at Tailg electric vehicle company
Top Management's Role in Promoting Decision Support Systems Efficiency: An Exploratory Study in Government Sector in Saudi Arabia
Despite overwhelmingly positive reviews for decision support systems, the IS literature has produced inconsistent results regarding the role of top management and the effectiveness of these systems. IS researchers are concerned with there being a widening gap between research and practice, leading to the current study, focusing on the relevance of these two constituencies. This study employs the Delphi methodology in relation to Saudi Arabia to investigate the reality of the decision support systems in governmental organizations and the diverse issues related to making effective use of them by increasing the role of top management. The findings revealed that there is an absence of a role for IT in the decision-making process, and that there is a lack of robust data warehouse systems capable of supporting organizations' top management with high-quality information. The study revealed various required reforms of various governmental and institutional arrangements and obligational aspects of the efficiency of decision support systems
Influence of Information and Service Quality on Users' Continuous Use of Mobile Libraries in China
This research mainly aims to explore the factors that influence users' continuous use of mobile libraries. The findings of this study will provide empirical evidence to help improve the service and information quality of mobile libraries. Moreover, suggestions for optimization are provided with the objective of meeting user demands at its maximum. A theoretical model is constructed to reveal the impact of 11 influencing factors on users' continuous use of mobile libraries. Structural equation modeling is adopted to verify the theoretical model and research hypothesis based on the valid data obtained from a questionnaire survey. The study found that personalized services and information availability have positive impacts on the service quality of mobile libraries. Moreover, perceived mobility and information quality have positive impacts on the perceived usability of mobile libraries. Finally, perceived usability, service quality, and platform stability have significantly positive impacts on the willingness of users to continue usage of mobile libraries
Trust, Organizational Decision-Making, and Data Analytics: An Exploratory Study
The use of data analytics of all kinds is making inroads into almost all industries. There are many studies that explore the usefulness and organizational benefits of these tools. However, there has been relatively little attention paid to the other issues that accompany the implementation of these tools, namely the level of trust felt by the consumers of the information products of these tools and the changes in decision-making caused by the introduction of data analytics. It is important that the level of trust these decision-makers have in their analytics tools be understood as that will have great impact on how these tools will be used and how the firm will use them to build value. This study examines the level of trust organizations have in their analytics tools and how these tools have changed their decision-making processes. This study will add to the broad understanding of how and where data analytics tools fit into the data-driven organization
The Role of Strategy Implementation in the Relationship Between Strategic Planning Systems and Performance
While substantial research has been done on strategic planning and performance, there is little research on the moderating role of strategy implementation. This study attempts to bridge this gap. The study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional survey with the firm as the unit of analysis. The findings indicate that strategy implementation moderates the relationship between strategic planning systems and market performance as well as internal business process performance but not on return on investment performance. In conclusion, the configuration of planning systems with its theoretical underpinning as resource bundles explain performance variations among firms. The study's implication for practice is that strategic planning systems should be emphasized by business firms as a configuration and not by its domains
